An Unconventional Beginning

Growing up in San Jose, California, she graduated high school two years early and, by 21, was married and raising two young children. Despite the challenges of being a young mother, Olivia was determined to rise above financial hardships. Balancing family responsibilities and a year off to work at Verisign, she graduated college with national, state, and university honors—a remarkable accomplishment as the first in her family to earn a degree. “I’m particularly proud of that achievement, especially because it inspired my siblings to earn their degrees,” she shares.

After completing her political science degree, Olivia’s next breakthrough came at Kaiser Permanente, where she gained comprehensive experience across the healthcare supply chain. Her expertise spanned direct and indirect purchasing, operations, procurement strategy, category management, vendor relations, and logistics. Yet her focus wasn’t just on cutting costs—Olivia recognized the potential for efficient healthcare procurement to increase accessibility and affordability for underserved communities.

Olivia’s current role at Vicon is where her passion for improving patient lives takes shape. Chemistry Over Collaboration: While many leaders focus on collaboration, Olivia emphasizes the importance of chemistry. “I don’t like the word’ collaboration,'” she admits. “What I believe in is the chemistry between people. When you find the right spark, the real magic happens.” For Olivia, success starts with bringing the right people together and fostering a chemistry where shared purpose and authentic connections drive results. She values diverse perspectives but believes that when a team clicks, it creates the synergy that leads to the most innovative and impactful solutions.
