Mike was born in a Philadelphia cell after a police raid on his home. He was taken from his mother as a child and sent to an orphanage. The orphanage didn’t help him but only further burned his soul. He was physically and mentally abused for 11 days before getting rescued by his aunt.

At age 6, after the smoke in the family’s home killed his uncle, his cousin and nine members of his family, including five of the children- he had to build life for himself where he became the artistic soul he is today. At age 13, this charismatic young man developed a taste and passion for music to raise awareness about his experiences to gain justice for his family and others.

Mike Africa Jr. has also come to share many stages with activists and celebrities such as Marc Lamont Hill, Tarana Burke, Ramona Africa, Dead Prez, Danny Glover, Michael Franti, Public Enemy, Rage Against the Machine and countless others. In May 2019, he began on a new venture – The “Mike Africa Junior Information Company” (MAJIC) which is a multi-faceted entertainment brand created by Africa and his team. This venture hosts educational entertainment in music, podcasts, documentaries with the mission to share his struggles with the world and make it a stronger and happier place together.

About The MOVE

MOVE has always been an organization with no violence, and no confrontation. However, we often forget that the people working here ought to protect themselves against societal dangers too just like anybody else. Mike Africa Jr. said. “We are peaceful people, but we are defensive people, too. And I think people get those things confused because they equate fighting or defending yourself with violence … but it’s not the same thing.”

Mike Africa Jr. founded one of the 21st-century manifestations of MOVE shortly before his mother’s release – the nonprofit The Seed of Wisdom Foundation. This is a sister organization to MOVE which focuses more on the teachings of John Africa and the “natural

law,” that includes living a healthy and happy lifestyle where we face social justice issues and environmental protection issues head on. Mike shares about MOVE, “The organization is still actively involved and informing people of the dangers of a systematic oppression of life, but we try to focus on the softer side of the revolution”.

Mike Africa, Jr. is a public figure who uses his story experiences to inform people about the injustices in society. He believes that we as a society together can bring changes that need to bring about justice for black people in America. Never Give Up! Resist Injustice! Challenge Discrimination! Be Happy!
