Adriano De Ferrari: Innovating Sound, Mixing Genres

Coming all the way from Chile, Adriano De Ferrari moved to LA to innovate his own sound as a musician and to become a better audio engineer both in both studio and live sessions. His hard work, commitment and vision in sound got him to work in venues like Black Rabbit Rose, Amoeba Records, Say Yes, The Velvet Martini, Dirty Laundry, In the meantime, Madame Siam, La Boheme and more. All these venues gave Adriano the opportunity to get out of his comfort zone and mix in different consoles, different styles of music and different rooms and vibes.

Adriano at age 22, started his career as an audio engineer by mixing artists songs and working two internships, one at the recording studio “sound factory” and another one at the venue “Black Rabbit Rose.”

After being done with both internships, Adriano De Ferrari made up his mind and decided to say yes to every opportunity it is presented in his way to become a great Audio Engineer. That has led him to be part of many projects working for big artists such as Carrie Underwood, The Chainsmokers, Magdalena Bay, Elliot Smith Tribute and many more artists/bands on their way to success. 

“It is crazy the amount of life-changing opportunities that can be found in this city; I’ve seen people taking huge steps in their careers just by cautiously talking to the right people in the right circles. You just need to know how to look for them, and when presented, be prepared to eat the world.”

All his experience mixing bands live got him to master his own sound and the way he sees music, the way he feels the dynamics on songs, the way he gives every instrument its own space in the mix so that he can deliver quality for people to enjoy live music. 

Adriano, coming from being a guitar player, sees music from different angles. There is the angle of the musician, the angle of the sound engineer and the angle of the people who came to listen to live music.

 “The angle of the musician is very important because if the musician doesn’t hear himself properly, it’s hard for him to concentrate and be in tune with the rest of the band. The angle of the sound engineer is to make every instrument a part of the mix and let the instruments coexist in harmony without having them fight for space in the mix. And the angle of the crowd is expecting almost perfection.”  

“What I love the most about mixing bands is that whenever I understand the feeling that the artist/band is trying to deliver to the audience, I can put my knowledge into action and work towards amplifying that feeling and make it as crystal clear as I can. It is something magical to work with other people’s sounds; you can go so many different directions.”

Adriano also has his own music as an artist, all by the name of “Adriano Dfe.” 

His newest release “Todo al 100” is up to come on September 20th this year, it’s a song in Spanish about making it in the music industry, being able to go over any obstacle presented and having the confidence that the path to success gets clearer and brighter on every step.

Produced and mixed 50-50 with the producer Volkan can, known for working with big artists such as Sofia Isella. With a big background in playing and studying guitar Adriano says, “This song mixes genres like crazy; you can hear some gypsy jazz, hip hop, EDM, rap, its weirdly amazing how they manage to fit together.”
