Naegeli Deposition and Trial Highlights Advantages of Remote Depositions

The pandemic has definitely taken a toll on the legal community. Still, we at NAEGELI Deposition and Trial strive to adapt to the ever-changing world to serve our clients better. After all, if we wish to survive, we must adapt to change. In-person depositions have become problematic because of the impending health risks. Thus, instead of wishing for things to go back as they were before COVID-19, we chose to move forward by providing clients with free remote deposition steaming, assisted by a live technician to help you every step of the way.

NAEGELI Deposition and Trial has consistently provided unparalleled litigation support services, and we are not letting even a pandemic prevent us from giving our clients the best. On a mission to always exceed expectations, we embraced the concept of remote depositions, a process that has only been done as seldom as possible before the pandemic. One may be inclined to think that remote depositions hinder a litigation process from being effective, we say that remote depositions have their own advantages, and after months of using them, we have proven that it is just as effective as in-person depositions.

First: remote depositions help you conserve money, time, and effort. While in-person depositions require you to drive or sometimes fly to different areas, remote depositions allow you to use that time and resources instead to concentrate more on your case. Staying home also lowers the risk of getting infected by COVID-19 and significantly reduces your carbon footprint, which is a win for the environment.

Second: remote depositions happen in more relaxed settings. It is proven that you can yield better results from depositions when deponents are comfortable. Hence, getting rid of the stress of traveling, social anxiety, and the possible health risks will ultimately lead to more open and truthful reactions.

Third: remote depositions increase flexibility. Remote depositions allow you to use your computers during sessions. It also prevents you from printing physical copies, which then costs money and contributes waste to the environment.

Fourth: remote depositions provide you with better search capabilities, which means you can effortlessly search keywords and exhibits during a deposition using a plethora of tools, such as using Adobe Acrobat for scanning and editing documents.

Fifth: remote depositions allow you to be more prepared as it encourages you to get ready earlier than you might usually do during in-person depositions. This is because you have to get all your exhibits ready, especially if you are sharing them with court reporters or the opposing counsel before the deposition starts.

Sixth: You can use your privacy in remote depositions to your advantage. Remote depositions will give you the benefit of looking at documents that might help you win your case, as the opposing counsel cannot really see what you have in front of you. Whatever it is that you think might help you and your client, you can have it ready nearby in case you need it during the process.

At NAEGELI Deposition and Trial, we strive to go above and beyond to provide clients with unmatched support. Regardless of the challenges we are facing in these trying times, we will always find ways to help you succeed.

How Technology Can Save Us From a Doctor Shortage

The impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on doctors is profound. Reports of anxiety, burnout, and depression, which began to surface within the first few months of the pandemic, have only grown more frequent as the pandemic has lingered. In mid-2020, a survey conducted by The Physicians Foundation found that 8 percent, or approximately 16,000 physicians, already had closed their practices as a result of COVID-19.

For the doctors who remain in practice, one result of the increased stress placed upon the medical profession by the pandemic has been an acceleration in the rate in which doctors are shifting from being independent physicians in private practices to employed physicians at hospitals or employed physician practices.

While the trend toward the employed physician model is not surprising, some results of the arrangement, and what “being employed” entails, seem to be catching both physicians and their employers off guard. The result has been a host of problems causing a loss of engagement and regret of the employment status, all of which could be avoided with the proper application of available technology.

The challenges of private practice

The top benefit of having a private practice is the high degree of autonomy that it offers to the doctor. Policies are set by the doctor and, provided regulations are abided by, can be as flexible as the doctor decides that they need to be. When decisions need to be made, whether they involve medical or managerial issues, the doctor can feel free to make them as he or she sees fit.

The top challenge cited by physicians in the private practice model involves the business side of operating a practice. A 2020 survey found the top factor contributing to burn out to be “too many bureaucratic tasks.” In the employed physician model, the top benefit is having bureaucratic and administrative responsibilities managed by staff members, leaving the physician available to focus fully on patient care.

The challenges related to managing a private practice have already resulted in the employment model being the preferred choice for younger doctors. However, the increased pressures brought on by the COVID pandemic has pushed even mid-practice and older physicians to reconsider private practice. According to a recent report, nearly seven in 10 physicians are now employed.

Where the employment model falls short

As doctors transition from private practice to being employed, their level of job satisfaction has a lot to do with the extent to which their managers support and mentor them. However, the manager–physician relationship has grown increasingly complex, demanding that new tools be employed to stay engaged and provide proactive and productive feedback.

The ability to manage the employee relationship requires the physician supervisor to collect data from multiple sources like human resources, the medical staff office, payers, legal, and revenue cycle. Historically each of these sources of data was either on paper, in an electronic file cabinet, or potentially in a siloed electronic solution.

Because each department maintained its own solution and data, leaders who managed the employment relationship with the physician rarely, if ever, understood the complete performance picture. Problems were frequently identified through internal audits or external agencies that levied fines and penalties. While the documents were at least retrievable, ongoing human intervention was required to generate a performance scorecard. Despite data being housed in all of the departments and functions described above, when inconsistencies occurred, physicians were asked to correct, update, or validate the data.

For many physicians, it is not unusual to keep professional documents in a box under the bed or in the trunk of a car, on a flash drive, or in a drop box or file cabinet. Graduation diplomas, Drug Enforcement Agency licenses, state licenses, previous training, previous case logs, and more typically reside in these various storage areas and the physician is responsible for keeping the information current and consistent. The problem with this model is easy to see. And it is easy to fix. Today, the technology exists to house all provider lifecycle data in one place.

How better management can save us from a healthcare crisis

That lack of attention and technology being applied to this issue may be contributing to a crisis: The aging population in the US will require more physicians at a time when one-third of all active doctors are preparing to retire or exit the profession and the rate of new medical graduates is stagnating. In fact, it is anticipated that by 2033, the US will face a deficit of approximately 133,000 physicians.

It is significant that many physicians who have enjoyed being, and have thrived as, independents are reconsidering their futures now and seeking employed positions. In the short term, they will join thousands of others who have landed in the employed model due to widespread consolidations and mergers, some COVID-19 related. What the healthcare industry cannot afford now is to lose any single physician to burnout or other factors, at the precise time when we need them the most.

As a result, we need to proactively provide physician managers the ability to give consistent, routine, and unbiased feedback on all aspects of performance. The time has come to integrate the data silos. The technology exists to do so, and the time to make the change is growing short.

You Don’t Have To Be Friends with Coding to Break into Tech | Agile Coach, Aina Alive

The booming tech industry has uncovered some incredible and innovative ideas. Amidst this ever-accelerating rate, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and confused to break into this industry. And, even if one ever wanted to break into tech, they always have to worry about being savvy at coding or some other tech skill set. But, Aina Alive has been busting all those myths.

Founder of Bee Agile Tutoring, Youth Career Consultant, Mentor, and Creator, Aina has been helping professionals break into the tech industry by going code-free. Her company, Bee Agile Tutoring, has one simple purpose; to help individuals get into the tech industry and hand them the tools and techniques to become better leaders there.

Aina has pivoted 5 times in her career, and she soon realised how professionals lacked common resources and guidance to thrive in tech. She says, “I was never intrigued by IT. I always thought I needed coding skills or a special degree to do so. Well, I was wrong.”

After creating various successful leaders in the roles like Scrum Master, Product Owner and Project Manager, Aina aims to navigate her mentees to their esteemed skills that can help them bag their dream role.

Her approaches aim at transforming careers by leveraging her experiences and elucidating professionals to deal with the tech industry, things that she learnt the hard way! Today, she shares her top 3 learnings with us.

Be Rational

Aina explains how professionalism can be challenging. One of the most difficult aspects of breaking into IT is to compete with highly skilled professionals already thriving in the industry. While it’s common to get all panicky and scared when you experience such huge competition, she suggests writing down the personal definition of “being a professional”, adding the skills needed to achieve that professional goal and then prioritising learning them with the available avenues.

She used Pareto Law (20% effort which will give you 80% of results) if you have too many items on your list.

Skills Are Your Best Friend

One of the imperative yet unnoticed aspects is upgrading skills. Aina says, “I have struggled to see the reality of progress and importance of skill set in my early career. I discovered that a skillset is more than a degree or a certificate and, an ideally honed skill can land you to your dream job in no time.” Her coaching revolves around improving skills that prepare the coaches for the future.

Aina suggests, instead of relying on degrees and certificates, we must lean on skills like negotiating small things, practising empathy and compassion and trying to understand situations rather than misinterpreting or judging them.

Leaders Are Self-Aware

We are currently in the middle of the competition and recovering industries. Aina believes, holding on to the power of self-awareness and honesty with yourself are the propellers to push you ahead as a leader.

She says, “To be great leaders, we need to learn to manage ourselves first and then only we’ll be able to manage our teams and organizations.” Her coaching shows you ways to prepare for the leadership roles in tech while leaving no aspect on the table.

Perhaps, the most interesting part of Bee Agile Coaching is the interactive and engaging learning. There is never a dull moment in the coaching sessions with Aina.

Aina’s most striking learnings would be seen in her upcoming book. The book has pieces of advice from the older self to a young 20-year-old and to many more newbies of the industry. The lessons are tied up in pieces of mistakes and examples, tables and samples of resumes, samples of professional letter writing, nuggets and fun pictures. In other words, the book’s a treasure for young professionals who often believe job processes and career stress is real.

While she continues to help professionals bag leadership roles in tech, Aina has successfully made her spot in the Top 30 Female Entrepreneurs of The NYC Journal 2021, she has helped hundreds of professionals to find their dream job and is soon expanding her coaching footprints internationally.

VizAeras on the Importance of Quality Air and Its Indoor Pollution Monitoring Technology

The United States EPA ranks indoor pollution as one of the top five environmental risks to public health in official reports. This has brought about the need to monitor and track indoor pollution to save lives and billions of dollars in productivity loss and annual health costs. This gave rise to the new company VizAeras and the technology it brings with it, which aims to monitor levels of indoor pollution to ensure the quality of air people breathe inside any given home or building.

VizAeras, which translates “Visual Air”, operates on the premise that indoor air quality affects up to 50% of commercial buildings in the United States and causes over 10 million lost workdays per year. Furthermore, on a global scale, about 3.8 million people die yearly due to indoor air pollution. This spurred VizAeras’ CEO, Carl Tautenhahn, to establish the company, champion different technologies and apply for their patents so he could contribute to the betterment of the modern world.

VizAeras’ technology aims to reduce indoor pollution levels by giving intending occupants of a particular space the chance to measure the level of pollution in a building before entering. The company’s proprietary indoor environmental quality (IEQ) product has been listed for a funding campaign on StartEngine. This product is designed to bring more transparency, awareness, and access to healthy building conditions while creating safer, healthier, and more productive spaces for occupants.

VizAeras has also been recognized at the annual IMPACT 21 Digital Marketing Conference, where the company received the award for “Best IoT Indoor Air Quality Monitor.” The company is committed to passing on knowledge to parents, employers, schools, owners of public buildings about how vital knowing indoor pollution levels is. In Carl’s words, “It truly affects our health, well-being, personal productivity, test scores, and even business profits.”

Carl Tautenhahn’s goal with VizAeras and its product is to make it a part of everyone’s lifestyle. He refers to how many people wear one form of smart device to monitor their health and body activities. He would like to see a world where people are heavily conscious about the air they breathe indoors or what sort of air is in the building they’re about to get into. VizAeras also adds greater transparency to the monitoring as it is currently the only indoor air quality or IEQ device on the market that allows simple remote monitoring and quick-scan QR code access for any commercial building. The product also has an easy-to-use share and compare feature that allows users to monitor and track indoor pollution at the most frequent locations they visit.

VizAeras gives everyone all they need to protect themselves and take necessary precautions whenever they spot dangerous pollution levels. “We should be monitoring exposure to harmful pollution and the quality of the air we breathe indoors. I see VizAeras mapping, tracking, and monitoring indoor environmental conditions and protecting the most valuable assets inside a building—the occupants,” Carl said. “There has never been a greater need for the ability to monitor, access easily, share, compare, and promote healthy indoor environments for our homes, classrooms, and commercial buildings from any device, in real-time.

The ultimate goal for VizAeras is a national takeover and global domination while making VizAeras a staple in every home and business building as a must-have product to ensure quality health. While Google mapped “The Great Outdoors”, VizAeras intends to map and track IEQ conditions for “The Great Indoors’ ‘ where we live, work, learn, heal, pray, and play.

More information about VizAeras can be found on its website here. You can also watch this YouTube video to learn more about the indôr product and support the brand’s crowdfunding efforts at StartEngine.

How can we use GIS mapping in our community?

A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a conceptualized framework that can record, store, modify, manage, analyze, and show a wide range of spatial and geographical data. This computer system is critical, particularly in planning, and is used to aid in planning and monitoring in various industries.

Data gathering for community assessment is an integral part of overall community programming, about which governing bodies are often unaware, underprepared, and may execute initiatives that are potentially ineffectual and irrelevant. To collect community data, various approaches are utilized, ranging from anthropological observations to key informant interviews and surveys. While these tools remain an essential element of the community’s toolkit, the information they produce is difficult for the individual to decipher. Furthermore, such statistics frequently fail to indicate the direct link between public and geographic location.

GIS FILE FORMATS.

GIS technology is an important part of data infrastructure. It is often regarded as the technology, policies, standards, human resources, and related activities necessary to acquire, process, distribute, use, maintain, and preserve spatial data. GIS file formats consist of two major file formats; raster and vector.

  • Raster formats are cell or pixel grids that store GIS data and change over time, such as elevation or satellite images.
  • Vector formats are polygons made up of nodes (points) and lines. GIS data having defined borders, such as school districts or streets, can be stored in vector formats.

Any information that involves a location can be used by GIS. However, the area can be specified in various ways, including latitude and longitude, address, and ZIP code.

GIS allows you to compare and contrast different sorts of data including, public data, such as population, income, and education level. It can provide information on the land, such as streams, various types of flora, and soil. It also includes information regarding factories, agricultural sites, storm drains, highways, and electric power lines.

GIS mapping is used to compare the locations of various objects to see how they connect. A single map may, for example, contain places that cause pollution, such as industries and areas that are vulnerable to corrosion, such as swamps and tributaries. GIS mapping aids in determining the areas where resources are most vulnerable.

This article will discuss what GIS is and how it can be used in our community.

A Comprehensive View and Understanding.

GIS brings it all together and gives you a clear picture of your community. In GIS, there is a spot for every feature and resource through which you can look at data from numerous sources, systems, or departments using that location. You can examine your community assets in connection to other assets of the community to acquire helpful context and a better understanding. In this approach, the location serves as the connecting thread that allows you to get a complete picture of what’s going on.

When you look at a map, you automatically begin converting it into information by identifying patterns and detecting trends that might otherwise go unnoticed. You can comprehend where resources are today and where they will be in the future through spatial analysis.

Community leaders use GIS maps to identify where historical changes have happened and how plans will affect the community. This results in a more focused, well-researched decision-making process that is more in line with community goals.

GIS Sensors are a valuable data source.

The growing usage of sensors for monitoring, tracking, and linking daily processes, helps communities access a new source of precise, real-time geographical data. When a city garbage bin fills up, a parking space is available, or an electricity turbine requires repair, sensors can send out a signal. Communities can see what is occurring and react to situations more quickly when sensor data is coupled with GIS.

GIS is also used to overlay storm paths with sensor data to narrow down which electric utility equipment can be damaged by severe weather, lowering outage time and speeding service restoration. As communities adopt more modern technology, GIS will become increasingly important due to the rising reliance on spatiotemporal data.

Tracking of Vehicles.

Many cities are tracking the real-time location of police cars, public buses, snowplows, garbage, and trucks using GIS and sensor data. School buses are tracked, and drivers and operators are warned if they deviate from their planned routes. GIS tracking allows parents to follow their children’s movement to and from school and receive notifications a few minutes before pick-up and drop-off time.

Management of Natural Resources.

GIS technology aids in the management of natural resources, including agricultural, water, and forest, that are better maintained and managed using GIS mapping. Agricultural land management includes crop yield management, crop rotation monitoring, and other tasks that can be analyzed through GIS mapping. The Spatial Information System (GIS) is used to examine the geographical distribution of water, ensuring that accurate data is provided so that relevant measures can be taken.

Land cover and land usage are determined.

The feature that covers the barren landscape is referred to as land cover. The term “land use” means the surface area that is used for a particular purpose. The role of GIS technology in land use and land cover applications allows us to determine changes in various places. It also helps us identify and estimate land cover patterns over time while detecting abrupt land use and cover changes caused by natural processes or other actions such as deforestation.

Given worldwide concerns about climate change and population growth, it is more necessary than ever to evaluate planning and design decisions that affect the built communities’ surroundings. During the planning phase, communities require access to ecology, topography, biology, geology, hydrology, meteorology, and other scientific data to take relevant measures and a sustainable approach. GIS aids in implementing a systematic method, considering all relevant geographic information and stakeholder involvement, offering a more sustainable approach to communities all around.

The GIS community encompasses all five qualities that characterize an information community and is utilized in Geodesigns to automate the estimates of risk, sensitivity, hazards, capacity, proximity, vulnerability, accessibility, and other aspects that may be used to guide design decisions. Members of this information community use technology to exchange and distribute information, cooperate, and network with one another. For example, GIS Stack Exchange and GeoNet provide a platform for users to access information and share knowledge freely. Geography and mapping technologies can assist in opening and maintaining the communication channels needed to serve communities both inside and outside of a community effectively. Using a few accessible GIS apps to get started may help people form solid, long-term partnerships with their communities and the people around them.

Amazon Continues to Lead the Delivery of Accessible Technological Innovations

Having to juggle one’s work, social, and personal life can be tough to handle. Too often, people run out of necessary “me time” to treat themselves with self-pampering because of their hectic schedules. Luckily, in this era of technology, everything is easily within reach through computers or smartphones. And Amazon has been leading these innovations since its foundation.

The American multinational technology company focuses on e-commerce, cloud computing, digital streaming, and artificial intelligence. It has been referred to as “one of the most influential economic and cultural forces in the world,” as well as the “world’s most valuable brand.” From providing a digital marketplace, music platform, subscription video-on-demand streaming and rental services to rolling out the latest research in cloud computing platforms, APIs, and virtual assistant AI technology; Amazon really has it all.

Initially founded by Jeff Bezos as an online marketplace for books, the company has reached and expanded from his garage to the whole world. It is now one of the big five companies in the United States information technology industry alongside Google, Apple, Microsoft, and Facebook.

Amazon continues to dominate the online shopping platform with its low price offers, free shipping, and commitment to customer convenience. One can find the cheapest alternative to their favorite outfits or looks that they found out on Pinterest just through scrolling in Amazon. It has developed this highly competitive industry by introducing superior search queries, recommendations based on past searches, one-click ordering at check-out, and, most recently, dash buttons for automatic re-ordering.

Amazon Alexa, simply referred to by most as Alexa, provides the interconnected world with another peek at the future of accessible technology. It is a virtual assistant AI technology developed by Amazon. It can perform voice interaction, play music, make to-do lists, set alarms, stream podcasts, play audiobooks, and provide weather, traffic, sports, and other real-time information. For users, it is like having a mini helper in the household that one can depend on.

These key differentiators keep Amazon at the top of its league. People today easily take these services for granted because it has become a deeply-ingrained part of the culture. However, most of these sources of public convenience were unheard of before Amazon. As it has always been, innovation lies at the heart of the company.

Very few companies, if any, consistently make headlines for groundbreaking efforts, such as experiments with drones for delivery. Even the public’s ready adoption of these innovations — things that would be deemed impossible by people in the past — is a testament to Amazon’s prowess. At the end of the day, the measure of the success of technological developments is its ability to trickle down into the hands of everyday people.

Amazon’s unique approach to delighting its customers has elevated the company to where it is right now. In its pursuit of practical innovations for every market segment, it has branched out to different services that cater to consumers’ various needs. Those who remain baffled at the success of Amazon only need to recognize how the company anticipated the needs of today’s fast-paced lifestyle.

The Birth and Evolution of Technology and Software Titan Apple Inc.

No company has made a more significant impact on electronics in the modern era than Apple Inc. Easily recognizable by the logo itself, the company surged in popularity and has remained on top for more than a decade as their computer software, servers, phones, and gadgets have become the go-to brand for several companies and people’s preferences.

Apple Inc. started from humble beginnings, originating in the ’70s with a trio consisting of Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne. Jobs and Wozniak shared an affinity for technology, establishing a partnership that would result in one of the most famous companies in the world today.

The foundations for the famous mobile phones today were built when Jobs started selling “blue boxes” that allowed users to make phone calls from long distances without spending a dime. Woz, in turn, shared his intrigue in computers by sharing his work with Jobs. He presented a computer with a typewriter-like keyboard connecting to a regular television acting as the screen. Jobs saw the potential it held as a commercial product.

The duo collaborated with Ronald Wayne, who played the instrumental role of settling their agreement, outlining their responsibilities and creating the original logo. Wayne joined their project to prove them with “adult supervision” and oversaw the mechanical engineering and documentation.

Steve Wozniak attempted to sell his idea to HP but was met with rejection five times. It was Jobs who convinced Wozniak that they go into business together. Faithful in Woz’s works, Jobs sold his Volkswagen minibus and HP calculator, which cost more back then, to help fund the production. Initially, Wozniak created the Apple I to make a statement and showcase his ability to create with little resources. The computer would later be dubbed as the Apple I, serving as the archetype to the modern-day computer.

Steve Jobs came up with the name for the brand after returning from a farm in Oregon. The name’s origin resonated with Jobs as he thought it carried an aura that emulated “fun, spirited, and not intimidating.”

The duo then arranged to showcase their final product to a chain store, impressing the owner who ordered fifty on the condition that they arrive fully assembled. Pleased with the arrangement, Jobs ordered the remainder of the parts he needed and worked tirelessly to complete their task. Once the orders arrived punctually, Apple was rewarded for the 200 units they sold, and Wozniak earned a reputation as a master designer.

Tasting success, Jobs sought new investors, with many of them showing interest but also reluctance. Eventually, Mike Markkula made a heavy investment in Apple, which rewarded him with 1/3rd of Apple’s shares.

Over the years, Apple Inc.’s computers underwent several innovations. The Apple I was followed by the II and III models before introducing the Macintosh, which generated sales on its release before declining as the software felt lacking. With more people on board, Jobs and Wozniak left the company following creative differences and frustrations with the company’s direction, respectively.

As the 21st century arrived, Apple started opening up retail stores and producing portable music players. It gradually expanded, innovating the computer and mobile phone industry. Steve Jobs’ return ushered in changes that rocked the world. Although he is gone today, Jobs’ legacy has been cemented as Apple Inc. continues to reign as one of the most sought-after brands.
