Spirituality and Happiness: An Interview with Life Coach and Spiritual Healer Cynthia Omekam

There are times that force us to rethink our ambitions and happiness. This was one of those times when I was seeking a big transformation and desired clear reflective paths towards growth. That’s when I stumbled upon a name—Cynthia Omekam. She is a thriving spiritual and holistic coach who has pioneered the art of spiritual healing and empowering the mind and soul. For Cynthia, working with her clients is a journey of self-growth and learning for herself too. She fondly calls her clients “hidden gems.” So, when you are with her, you will rebalance your thought process, attain peace and rekindle your hopes towards growth and satisfaction. With this interview series, I was deeply inspired by her outlook towards life that simply engendered a new hope and passion inside me!

1) How would you explain the concept of balancing life while aligning it with your coaching tools? 

In a society rooted in being successful in every area of our lives while not seeming to have enough hours in a day to do so; it can easily begin to feel like achieving life balance is only possible through a miracle. However, the practice of mindfulness has served as a major reminder for me that this is far from the truth. Mindfulness is about making the most of each moment and doing so with grace and fulfillment. Allowing for a more meaningful and intentional experience.

And by living a more mindful lifestyle, you allow yourself to break free from the weights of your past, as well as your anxieties about the future, which, in turn, lowers your stress levels, improving your focus and concentration while increasing your presence and impact in every area of your life. This naturally shifts the way that you operate at work as well as within your personal life, creating space for you to comfortably and confidently be fully wherever you are in each present moment. So for example, when you are at home with the family, you’re not preoccupied with anything else; your time, energy, and attention are all fully channeled toward the task at hand, which is family time, allowing you to enjoy the true benefits and fulfillment of the love, laughter, and high energy associated with connecting with loved ones. This also allows you to fully disconnect from work as well as that never ending mental to-do list and any other distractions, which releases those endorphins that lowers stress levels, increases happiness, and improves your overall well-being.

In terms of taking steps towards a more balanced lifestyle, there are many tools that prove beneficial, but my clients find practicing things like self-awareness, intentionally being more present in every moment, establishing healthy boundaries, holistic self-care, incorporating more destressing mindful activities (meditation, yoga, etc) and prioritizing work, rest, and play equally to be simple yet powerful ways to get started. One last thing that I would like to leave with our readers is to keep in mind that establishing life balance is very similar to the healing process because it’s a journey rather than a destination. Meaning, that there will be times when balance is lost, but as long as you remain committed to these mindful changes, this imbalance will only be temporary. So no matter what, remain encouraged through the process knowing that you possess all that you need to get back in alignment with your ideal flow.

2) What encouraged you to become a holistic and spiritual life coach? 

I was raised with many of the spiritual practices I use with my clients as a normal part of my household culture, and I’ve always had a passion for serving others through healing. So the foundation of my business began way before I even knew this would be my path. However, my career started out in the field of psychology, leading me to receiving my Bachelors in Psychology in 2012 and a Masters in Forensic Psychology in 2016. After graduating with my second degree, I had plans to continue my work as an intern counselor at a local correctional facility until my mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.

After finding out about my mom’s diagnoses, I dropped everything to become her full-time caregiver. And during that time, I was able to dive deep into my own transformational healing and began to realize my true healing potential. Not only was I able to be of service to my mom as a healer during her fight with cancer, but I was also able to heal myself through the process. I spent hours meditating and praying daily. So basically whenever I wasn’t serving my mom, I was connecting with the divine. Many times, I would receive directions in terms of providing her with what she needed or comfort to push me through. However, towards the end of my mom’s time, here I began receiving clear downloads in terms of my next steps and that a life coaching practice would be the way.

I wrote down everything I received in detail and shared it with my mom. We manifested together, we talked about the steps to make it happen, and rejoiced about what was to come. During her last few weeks here on earth, my mom was actually able to pull me to the side and tell me how proud she was. To this day, it’s a moment I’ll never forget and will cherish forever. Unfortunately, I lost her before my plans began to physically manifest, but her spirit lives on through me and Holistic Liberation LLC. Although the road here was painful and challenging, I am grateful to be able to fulfill my life passion of healing while continuing on her powerful legacy anchored in love and faith.

3) We admire how you empower others out there. What are some major reasons that your clients expect you to address? 

Thank you so much! It truly is an honor to hear those words. It brings me so much joy to be able to hold space and to show up for others in a way that is empowering and inspiring. All of my clients connect with me for support and guidance on their healing journeys as they move toward a more free, peaceful, love-filled and pleasurable lifestyle. So many of my clients are working on things like self-compassion/acceptance, self-love, spiritual wellness, emotional wellness, stress management, establishing alignment, self-discovery, self-worth, establishing inner peace, breaking free from growth blocks, living more intentionally, discovering life purpose, achieving life balance, tapping into personal power, increasing intuitive awareness, shedding ego, releasing control and living more mindfully.

Of course I’m sure I missed a few, but this list alone is a great visual of how multilayered the healing journey is and how beneficial committing to the healing process can actually be. Because healing is so important in leading us to our path back to our true reality, the true essence of life, aiding us as we reconnect with our true self and purpose, which opens up the doors to endless possibilities and potential. This creates a powerful foundation to begin building the lives we all truly desire and deserve.

4) How does spiritual understanding help one control their mindset for creating a life balance? 

I absolutely love this question! Spirituality is definitely part of that holistic self-care that I spoke about earlier in terms of achieving life balance because it aims toward establishing peace and purpose by helping us to gain new meaning and perspective in our lives through our connection to something greater than ourselves. Ultimately, this leads us to feel more in tune with ourselves and the world around us while nurturing self-awareness, peace, value, connectivity and balance, allowing us to start to really connect with the life that our souls truly yearn for despite the outside pressures and chatter.

So spiritual wellness is a major benefit to establishing life balance because it allows you to gain the clarity and resilience needed to live aligned with purpose, allowing you to live a more meaningful life connected to your core values, beliefs and morals, which is important in terms of being more intentional, setting healthy boundaries and prioritizing life roles/responsibilities. Therefore, a spiritual mindset helps cultivate balance by aiding you in establishing more clarity, achieving success, and creating meaningful experiences all while nurturing soul growth and expansion.

5) What are the final words of wisdom that you would want to pass on to our readers? 

In honor of this amazing opportunity, I would love to leave our beautiful readers with a powerful quote of encouragement by the legendary Harriet Tubman, “Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”

Very simple and straight to the point, yet this quote packs so much value. Someone out there is going to read this quote and know that this is their confirmation that there’s nothing that they can’t do, as long as they believe. As the famous saying goes, “If you can dream it, you can achieve it.” Don’t stop manifesting! You may not know that’s what you’re doing now, but you are and with intentional action those seeds shall yield a bountiful harvest. So keep visualizing, keep talking about it, and keep taking those aligned steps forward to get you to that end vision. Your dreams are awaiting your arrival. Trust me, I am living proof!

And remember no matter how many challenges you may face or how hard it may get to push forward, keep showing up and believing in your vision. Everything that you need is already within you and whatever that you need externally, know that God/Universe will always provide. Keep healing, keep growing, keep learning and keep evolving. Knowing that as you continue to put in the work everything will come full circle.
