Among these, the 2025 California International Music Competition Opening Ceremony and the Los Angeles Chang’an Lantern Festival stood out as key highlights. These events owe their success to the meticulous planning and dedication of a talented creative director—Ruoyin Liu.

Ruoyin Liu has skillfully combined traditional Chinese culture with modern elements, creating highly acclaimed cultural exchange events. With a strong academic background as a master’s student in the SEDA program at the University of Southern California (USC) Spatial Sciences Institute, she has showcased her extensive experience in Sino-American arts and business exchanges through her recent event planning. 

On November 16, 2024, the 2025 California International Music Competition Opening Ceremony was held at Irvine’s OC Music & Dance. Since its inception six years ago, the competition has earned a reputation for its exceptional quality, prestigious international jury, and broad global influence. The event received support from several prominent political figures and organizations, as well as numerous industry leaders and representatives from top institutions, lending significant authority and credibility. Attendees included Forest Lake Council Member Benjamin Yu, Irvine Mayor’s representative Lilian Ortega, and California Assembly Members Mike Fong and Phillip Chen, who extended congratulations and presented honorary certificates to acknowledge the event’s excellence. The ribbon-cutting ceremony symbolized the beginning of a new chapter for the competition. Themed “Lanterns as a Medium, Culture as a Bridge,” the festival attracted 250,000 attendees, including dignitaries such as Chinese Consul General in Los Angeles Shaochun Guo, U.S. Congresswoman Judy Chu, and California Assembly Member Mike Fong. Spanning 38,000 square meters, the event featured over 60 intricate lantern displays divided into two sections—“The Splendor of the Tang Dynasty” and “Exploring the Future”—alongside thematic areas showcasing Chinese cuisine, folk culture exhibitions, performances, and a marketplace with more than 200 booths. Events like the “Traditional Carnival” and “Chinese Attire Gala” enriched the cultural experience, while the Sino-American Business Summit fostered business collaboration. Under Ruoyin Liu’s meticulous planning, the festival not only dazzled audiences but also served as a meaningful platform for Sino-American cultural exchange.

As creative director, Ruoyin Liu has played a crucial role in these events, deeply involved in every aspect of planning and organization.
