Oluseun Taiwo’s Stellar Journey: The CEO and Co-Founder of Solideon

While age-old business advice tells entrepreneurs to “aim for the stars,” Oluseun Taiwo, the chief executive officer and co-founder of Solideon, is building the next-generation spacecraft to get them there. His Berkley, California, start-up is working to bolster aerospace manufacturing capabilities to meet the space sector’s current demands with additive technologies.

“Humanity has the potential to be a space-faring civilization. I believe that the universe is not just full of wonder, but it’s also full of things that will make our lives better on Earth,” explains Taiwo. 

Launching a Career in Aerospace Innovation

Taiwo graduated from Northern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering technology in 2017. He launched his career at Rocket Lab USA, a California-based aerospace design and manufacturing company. The work put Taiwo at the center of aerospace innovation, helping in the production and manufacturing of rocket engines using additive technology.

Over the next three years, Taiwo followed the development of additive manufacturing. His next career move took the young professional to Texas, where he worked as a research and development engineer for an industrial machinery manufacturing company. But Taiwo would not be away from the aerospace sector for long. He returned to California in 2019 to start a role with Virgin Orbit, where he worked to apply 3D manufacturing methods to high-performance rocket engines. 

While the COVID-19 pandemic brought much of Virgin Orbit’s operations to a standstill, Taiwo continued his work, 3D printing rocket components from home. “I started to think that if a company was building some of the most advanced components in the world, then why wouldn’t it be an advanced manufacturing company? Those two things didn’t have to be mutually exclusive,” he says.

Accelerating Growth, Manufacturing Advancement

Taiwo moved to Denver, Colorado, in 2021. While he had moved on from his role with Virgin Orbit, the engineer could not shake the untapped potential of 3D printing he had witnessed. When his new employer turned down Taiwo’s manufacturing concept, he was unafraid to take the first step into entrepreneurship. 

The same day he quit his job, Taiwo and his eventual co-founder Anthony Dean emailed TechStars, a renowned startup accelerator program and investment firm. The subject line, which read, “3D Printing Humanity Through the Solar System,” would eventually become Solideon’s unofficial tagline. The next day, Taiwo and Dean received their official invitation to join the next TechStars cohort, surpassing more than 400 other companies who had applied. 

“We were one of the earliest-stage companies there and didn’t necessarily even know that a letter of intent was yet. And now we’re raising the most funds from our cohort,” Taiwo recalls. “I think we took the most from the class because we started with a blank slate on how a company should look, and we built off that.” 

The Solideon founders just celebrated $3.5 million in funding, surpassing its initial goal of $2 million. According to Taiwo, the team is settling into its newly constructed space in Berkley, which serves as the hub for its proprietary take on additive manufacturing. 

The Future of Living and Working in Space

While an intergalactic adventure might be thrilling to some, the Solideon CEO sees the opportunity to work and live in space as an opportunity to improve life on Earth. Rich in minerals and other materials, our solar system could provide extensive resources for manufacturing, says Tawio. Asteroid mining and extraterrestrial manufacturing could possibly reduce the strain on Earth’s already limited resources. 

“Aerospace is the way humanity becomes multi-planetary, which means a better, cleaner Earth for us and our kids someday,” Taiwo says. “But this awesome vision will never matter if we can’t make the cost of space travel more affordable.”

Solideon is already leveraging its advanced manufacturing technology to accomplish that. Its fully integrated collaborative robotic additive manufacturing system, dubbed Aperture, is built as a singular platform with patented 3D welding capabilities and robotic assembly. 

“3D gives us an autonomous opportunity in which you can design something on Earth and transmit it to a remote factory in space where it could be constructed,” Taiwo explains. “We can have sustainable manufacturing with millions of factories. Or we could put it to work, building vital infrastructure on different planets before humans arrive.”

More Than Just a Race to the Stars

Since the company’s launch in 2022, Taiwo understood that innovation in manufacturing would be a key to growing the space economy. But unlike many other aerospace brands, his vision is more than just a race to the stars. Solideon is working to advance space manufacturing, transportation, and infrastructure that establishes humanity as a space-faring civilization and improves and sustains our lives on Earth. Over the years, however, scholars have scrutinized theories of analytical methodology to the point of almost no contention. Today, the efficacy of pedagogies such as expressivism and New Criticism has been accepted, and most modern literature classrooms all house a unique and surprising combination of both approaches. In the modern classroom, literary analysis requires attention and adherence to definitions, unwavering critical thinking, unmitigated class discussion, and a connection to human existence. There’s no right or wrong way to analyze literature; the analysis is successful when it perpetuates the positive relationship between appreciation and understanding.

Understanding the Basics: What is Literary Analysis?

Literary analysis is the practice of examining, dissecting, and understanding literature by looking at its various elements. It involves understanding themes, character development, narrative structures, and language use. It’s like being a detective, except the clues are metaphors, symbols, and narrative arcs.

This methodology encourages students to delve deeply into the text, honing their analytical skills and fostering a profound appreciation for the complexities of literary construction.

Expressivism

In contrast to New Criticism, expressivism in the literature classroom centers on the individual’s personal response to literature. This pedagogical approach emphasizes the importance of personal expression and emotional response to a text. Expressivism encourages students to explore and articulate their own feelings and ideas as they engage with literature, often leading to a more personalized and subjective interpretation of texts. This method values the reader’s experience and perspective, encouraging a more personal connection with literature.

Despite their differences, New Criticism and expressivism can be complementary in the literature classroom. New Criticism’s focus on the text itself provides students with the analytical tools and discipline needed to dissect and understand literature in depth. In contrast, expressivism opens the door for personal engagement and emotional connection with the text. When combined, these approaches offer a holistic educational experience: New Criticism sharpens students’ analytical acumen, while expressivism nurtures their personal relationship with literature. This dual approach can lead to a more rounded and profound understanding of literary works, as students learn to appreciate both the technical craftsmanship of writing and their personal reactions to it.

“New Criticism and expressivism are not opposing partners but complementary,” says Nelson. “While New Criticism equips students with analytical precision, expressivism invites personal engagement. Then there are stories that transcend the darkness, shining a light on resilience, faith, and the unbreakable bonds of family, giving extra importance to the age-old question this time of year: what are you thankful for this Thanksgiving? 

Chris Papanti’s journey is a testament to resilience, transformation and overcoming adversity. After serving over a decade in prison, he returned home and tirelessly worked to rebuild his life. Chris became one of the most sought-after strength, conditioning and life coaches, catering to an elite clientele, including celebrities, supermodels, professional athletes and prominent business leaders. His work took him around the world. As his entrepreneurial spirit flourished, he became the owner of a cutting-edge streetwear brand, co-owner of a cosmetics and medical supply company, and partner in a liquor company that launched the first and only 4-crop vodka blend.

A Life-Changing Ultrasound

The story begins at a routine 22-week ultrasound on December 1, 2022, a day that changed Chris’ life forever. It was then he discovered that his only child was going to be born with gastroschisis. It’s a rare condition affecting about 1 in every 5,000 babies where the intestines are outside of the baby’s body. 

Gastroschisis presented a daunting challenge, Chris soon learned. It meant his son would need immediate surgery and multiple procedures after birth. The rarity and seriousness of this condition were overwhelming but also brought clarity to Chris’ role as a father—he had to be his son’s unwavering pillar of strength. His mind and heart were flooded with a whirlwind of emotions facing this unexpected news, but he’s not the type to ask, “Why me?

“Life, as I knew it, had already been a tapestry of trials. Each chapter of my life has tested my strength and resolve. Like father, like son, right? Have faith, I told myself, and focus on what needed to be done to ensure Santino received the best possible care. It was all about Santino now.”

Life in the NICU

The NICU days blurred into nights, nights into weeks. Watching Santino, so small and fragile, fighting for his life was heart-wrenching for Chris. Santino’s first cries were met not with warm embraces but rather by the urgent hands of doctors. His first breaths were assisted by machines. As he lay in an incubator amidst the beeps of machines and the constant vigil of the medical team, Chris saw that the NICU was a land of giants.

Where everyday heroes donned scrubs instead of capes, where battles were fought in ounces gained, breaths taken and where victories came not with fanfares but with the quiet passing of another stable night.

Nights were the hardest, Chris recounts, “the hospital’s quiet” was a myth; it was never silent, always murmuring with the undercurrent of vigilance. I would go and grab another stale cup of coffee in the lounge and see the other NICU parents doing the same. A nod, eyes met, no words needed to be said. I would often stay late, reading Santino stories from books with tales of bravery, of heroes, of Brooklyn, with a promise to Santino of the life that awaited him.”

Santino fought like a warrior, and with each passing day, he grew stronger. The machines that once seemed like life itself began to recede, their presence less dominating. He watched as his son learned to breathe on his own and dreamed of the first time he would be able to finally hold his son and get him home. After 55 days, Santino graduated from the NICU. 

Santino, the “Little Saint”

In these moments of reflection, the decision to name his son Santino came to Chris almost as a whisper of hope amidst the storm. In Italian, Santino means “little saint,” and this name resonated with a profound meaning given their deep connection to their Italian heritage. 

Santino was not just a name but a promise – a promise of strength, perseverance, and the ability to overcome the gravest challenges while so young in this world. His name was a homage to the innocence and purity of his spirit, a spirit that would, undoubtedly, face this world with the bravery of a warrior and the grace of a saint.

Santino, with his name, carried not just his love and hopes but also embodied the spirit of overcoming that has been a cornerstone of his father’s life. His name was and is a testament to the journey we are all on together, a journey of overcoming and emerging stronger.

Faith as the Anchor

In the darkest times, faith was Chris’ only anchor. It gave him strength to see beyond his circumstances, to focus not on being a “victim” but on being a father. His faith had taught him forgiveness, resilience and the power of unconditional love that now defines fatherhood. 

Gratitude for the Angels in Scrubs

In the NICU, surrounded by beeps and whispers, Chris witnessed miracles daily. The incredible doctors, nurses, and hospital staff became their guardians, tirelessly working to save Santino’s life. Their expertise, dedication, skill, and compassion turned a place of fear into a sanctuary of hope. For their unwavering support, they are forever thankful. 

The Father-Son Bond

The bond Chris shares with Santino is bonded not just by blood but by shared adversities and triumphs, battles and victories, faith, and the unbreakable will to persevere. Santino is a constant reminder that even in the bleakest moments, there’s always a glimmer of hope, a chance for redemption, and an opportunity to forge an unbreakable bond. Their moments together are not just about joy but about learning and growing. “Santino teaches me about the purity of hope, the strength of a smile, and the power of a small hand gripping mine,” Chris said.

As we gather around our Thanksgiving tables this year, this father is profoundly thankful. He is thankful for his son, who is a symbol of hope and resilience. Grateful for the incredible medical team and friends who stood by them. He is both thankful and grateful for the journey itself, which, despite its trials, has been the most rewarding of this new father’s life. Santino and his father are healed up and crushing life! And the story is to be continued.

Adam Kronowski’s Metal Magic Unleashes “Amber”: A Musical Roller Coaster!

Within the mysterious world of metal, where drums rumble and guitars rip like a drunken herd of elephants, rises Kronowski, a power headed by the formidable Adam Kronowski, a metal virtuoso possessing more skill in his little finger than the majority of us have in our whole bodies when we play air guitars.

Imagine this: Kronowski has been making waves, and not just because their music often results in people headbanging. From the modest beginnings of “The Pyre” (which, incidentally, could start a mosh pit in a library) to their upcoming full-length masterpiece, “Amber,” they have been making waves.

The mastermind behind this musical adventure, Adam Kronowski, is not your typical metal fan. He didn’t just learn to play guitar, though; as an alumnus of Berklee College of Music, he mastered the age-old skill of melting faces with riffs that would make a shredder envious.

But there’s still more! There’s more to Kronowski’s music than just fast-paced guitars howling like banshees. It’s an exploration of the mind of a man battling mental illness and OCD, turning his hardships into musical treasure. Therapy, step aside—Kronowski is here to come to your aid!

Now, let’s talk about “Amber.” It’s not just an album; it’s a genre-blending, head-spinning, musical kaleidoscope. Picture heavy metal, punk, reggaeton, and even country, all holding hands and skipping through a field of distortion pedals. It’s like a buffet where the only rule is that there are no rules.

Kronowski didn’t just stop at making your eardrums beg for mercy; he teamed up with metal legends like Dennis Ward and Mika Jussila to make sure “Amber” is so polished, you can practically see your reflection in it. Folks, that’s not all! A live-action music video directed by ZANE is available, as nothing says “metal” quite like an enormously ambitious visual extravaganza. It’s similar to a blockbuster film, but it has less explosions and more headbanging (well, maybe more explosions; we haven’t watched it yet).

Let’s now discuss the fans. These devoted fans are enthusiastic and practically metal prophets, foreseeing that “Amber” will become an obligatory classic. Even more coincidentally, a fan discovered Kronowski’s aural magic by chance, much like discovering a gold mine when organizing your wardrobe. And everyone’s insatiable curiosity: “Why aren’t these guys famous yet?” Get ready, everyone—fame is about to crash into Kronowski like a freight train!
