How the Gifted Musician Roya1 Is Rapidly Scaling the Hip-Hop and R&B Scene

Dreams are crucial; after all, it galvanizes a person to keep going and motivates them to succeed. But, on the other hand, merely having aspirations is not enough. Cognizant of this, the up-and-coming musician Roya1 has made sure to couple his ideas with courage and determination to execute them.

Born Raymond Moultrie Jr, the gifted artist also goes by the name YR BEATS, “YR” being Yung Roya1. The California native grew up in the bay area between Pittsburg and Richmond, and his upbringing helped shape his passion for R&B and hip-hop.

He was only 15 years old when he started making music and decided to pursue it as a career. Looking back on his journey, the singer-songwriter said, “Me growing up listening to R&B, Neo Soul, Jazz and Hip Hop had a big impact in shaping the type of music I want to make personally; it just felt right.”

Earlier this month, Roya1 dropped his EP on various digital streaming platforms, including Spotify and Tidal. The record is called Nasty and features four songs. When asked what the inspiration behind the album was, he profoundly answered, “This project is about embracing the sensual side of things, love, passion and pleasure. I just wanted to show the real me with this project.”

On top of that, he candidly divulged what his favorite track on Nasty is. He shared, “Do I Have permission is a song from the project that I really love because it’s like, I’m a ladies’ man, and I love to flirt.”

But aside from his unrivaled musical prowess, what makes Roya1 stand out is his incredible work ethic. From the beginning, he consistently honed his skills and talent, which allowed him to diversify and become versatile.

As a testament to that, he has since evolved into making beats, engineering vocals, getting into acoustics, and other technical aspects of making music, essentially making him a one-man versatile music act.

Not only that, but the insightful singer-songwriter also considers music as his safe space. He explained, “Music kept me out of trouble a lot of the time growing up; it’s my therapy and my safe place till this day.”

Because of these, Roya1 has impressively solidified his reputation as one of the most promising R&B and hip-hop artists in the music scene today. However, the talented individual is not just a role model.

Moving forward, the remarkable young man aims to continue elevating his artistry and become the best versatile musician in the world. In fact, he is already working on his next series of projects which is a collaboration with a respected producer and several talented artists.

But above all, Roya1 aims to become a role model for dreamers, especially those aspiring musicians. He hopes that his story of perseverance inspires millions across the globe and encourages them to chase after their dreams and have the courage to realize their visions.
