As more and more artists are recognized for their musical prowess, the 14-year-old multi-instrumentalist musician, singer, songwriter, composer, and producer Azalyne dazzles audiences with her captivating music. With her songs that transcend multiple genres, the young artist’s sound is distinctly her own, and she’s taking the music world by storm.
Born and raised in Canada to Guyanese and Polish parents, Azalyne’s music lends so much to her diverse background. Steeped in a variety of cultures, sounds, and music, Azalyne began growing a passion for music at the age of four. At such a young age, she had already shown tremendous amounts of musical potential, complemented by her relentless passion for succeeding. It was clear to see that the rising star had the recipe for success.
The trailblazing musician made the world witness her talents with her first performance at just four years old. Five years later, Azalyne would then go on to release her very first single, entitled “You Are Mighty,” at the age of nine. Since the inception of her musical career, the renowned musical artist has performed in over 250 shows, including the Toronto Jazz Festival, Honey Jam, RISE, Supermarket, Lula Lounge, El Mocambo, and the main stage of Beaches Jazz Festival.
Azalyne has built a massive reputation and captivated a wide audience through her sheer musical prowess. She is blessed with the rare ability to morph diverse sonic elements into beautifully surreal music. Her profound lyricism acts as an uncompromising vehicle to share her genuine stories with the world, as every word she sings cuts deep with her powerful emotions.
The talented young artist hopes to share her music with people from all walks of life, hoping that her classic and contemporary sounds will resonate deep within her many audiences. Recently, Azalyne was featured on Much Music’s Artist Spotlight, Canada’s premier music channel. Her upcoming EP entitled “Fragments” is scheduled to be released in September.
The five-song EP has seen the release of its first two singles, “Clouds” and “Fragments.” “Clouds” tells a story of detachment, expertly using the very clouds above our heads as a metaphor for life’s many moments. “This single is about detaching yourself from your own life. When you are outside staring up at the clouds, you get lost in everything around you. The clouds mesmerize you while you’re thinking about someone who is not acknowledging you. You sit in silence watching the Clouds, waiting for a response that will never come,” explained Azalyne.
“Fragments,” on the other hand, is a cute love song that captures the feeling of teenage love and hopefulness. The title track of the EP, “Fragments,” sets the tone for the entire album, capturing the complexities of the teenage heart with a mixture of soul-stirring ballads and head-bobbing melodies.
The “Fragments” EP is a momentous occasion in the young star’s remarkable career, as it is her first foray into creating a collective body of work. Azalyne has crafted such a fine piece of modern music through the support and guidance of her industry mentor, Anté O’Connor from Abstract Studios and Paula Griffith. “I have been going to the studio weekly, and I go off how I’m feeling that day. I was listening to instrumentals when one resonated with me. I would then create the lyrics and melodies on the spot. I capture these feelings with Anté O’Connor and Paula Griffith,” shared Azalyne.
