Jay Millian is on a Mission to Permeate the Music World — Releases New Visual “Karma”

Not many artists actively try to create new sounds or pioneer a new wave in the music world, but Jay Millian has chosen not to fall into that category. As someone who has been around music his whole life, not being a regular musician comes naturally to him and in his music career, towing a different line from other mainstream artists is what his musical legacy is all about.

Born in Long Beach, California, Jay Millian took up music passionately in 2017 after spending time with some friends who instilled the belief that he could take it up. For the most part, so far, his music has expressed his life experiences, and Jay Millian thrives on the fact that he creates honest music that people can relate to. He also talks about music as the only thing that keeps him calm during rough times.

The Los Angeles-based artist is building a career by pioneering a new sound that he calls the “Gangsta Soul, or G Soul,” for short. He describes the sound as a mix of G Funk and Neo-Soul geared towards giving his fans a new musical experience. He believes strongly in the power of music to evoke feelings in people, so he set out to project positive vibes to the world. This influenced his decision to create new sounds and reimagine old sounds, and use them in ways iconic musicians didn’t think were possible.

Jay Millian has reiterated that his life outside music is still music as he gets into a bit of production and engineering if he’s not writing or performing his songs. The former footballer had artists like Snoop Dogg, BattleCat, Blxst, DJ Quik and HitBoy. Drawing from all these influences, Jay Millian is trying to start his new wave, G-Soul, to entertain the world. He released his single “Karma” recently, on August 9, 2021. Describing the song, “Karma is exactly what it sounds like, but more specifically, it is a love story burdened by trust issues and relationship issues and everything that comes with that,” he said. Now, the visual was recently released and Millian has seen even more of a positive reaction from that.

Throughout his ongoing journey, he was opportune to work with LA artist Blxst and is currently getting ready to open for him on his “No Love Lost” Tour. Jay recollects the moment of rehearsing with Blxst as one of the highlights of his career so far. “I had my dawgs there, and it was a surreal moment because I never thought I would be opening up for one of my favorite artists,” he revealed.

In the near future, Jay Millian hopes to infuse his sound, G-Soul, into his upcoming projects, especially his debut album, which he’s currently working on. He already has a full-length project out on all platforms titled Grisham Deluxe, and he hopes to release more singles and albums for his fans to enjoy.

Jay Millian’s goals for the next few years is to work with some of the most prominent artists, headline shows, top charts and soar in popularity with his new sound and wave.
