Education is the foundation of a nation and the key to its prosperity, and it is the long-term plan for a country and a nation. Giving education the wings of technology is the high-speed “track” for future education in the 21st century. Principal Zhang Bo, the founder of Bow Wen Education, has opened the door to a new world of education with his global, systematic, and forward-looking thinking, using the “key of technology.”
How to effectively improve teaching effectiveness is a problem and challenge faced by every educator. “Immersive experience” may be the best answer. Principal Zhang uses his own efforts and actions, with virtual space technology, to reform and innovate, expand virtual space teaching practice, and provide students with immersive experiences, which answers this question very well. “Virtual space is a very new topic, especially when combined with education, creating virtual educational scenes is refreshing. In order to achieve better results, we have done a lot of research. First, there is technical support, using virtual reality technology, allowing students to have immersive experiences in scientific experiments, historical events, employment practices, and so on through VR glasses and VR scenes, giving students a clear, intuitive, and profound feeling. At the same time, we optimize the curriculum according to the needs of students of different ages and learning stages. In addition, resource sharing can be used to enhance learning effectiveness and promote interaction between teachers and students,” Principal Zhang introduces his technological achievements to the author like a treasure trove.
“In order to give students a better experience in career planning, we have developed a virtual career experience pavilion within the metaverse space and combined it with the career experience pavilion created by Sichuan Jiafa Education Group in Chengdu Jiangyou area, adopting an online + offline mode,” Principal Zhang explains, integrating the virtual online side with the actual offline side, allowing students to first experience online and have an intuitive perception before going to the physical pavilion for a hands-on experience, which gives children a particularly strong impression and helps them make more accurate career planning decisions.
“Technology, as an auxiliary means and a tool, can effectively enhance learning effects, but education is not just about knowledge and technology,” the author raises his own question to Principal Zhang. “This is a very good question,” Principal Zhang smiles and says, “Artificial intelligence will replace some functions of our traditional teachers, but not completely. On one hand, AI can impart knowledge and provide personalized, precise guidance and support for students through algorithms, especially the rich learning resources under big data, which traditional teachers do not have. After all, one person’s knowledge is limited, but AI’s data is in the tens of thousands or even billions. On the other hand, AI lacks the human touch, interactivity, artistry, and wisdom of traditional teachers, especially the emotional communication between teachers and students, which plays a crucial role in shaping students’ personalities, guiding their values, and establishing their ideals and beliefs.”
During the conversation, the author profoundly feels Principal Zhang’s humanistic care for the students and his passion for the cause of education. He is committed to cultivating moral integrity, embracing righteousness, caring for and loving students, and has a clear understanding of the dual nature of technology, allowing technology to shine the light of humanity. These are the deepest impressions Principal Zhang has left on the author.
“Educational administration must not be limited in thinking, but should look at the world, share resources, and learn from each other’s strengths,” Principal Zhang has his own unique and forward-looking insights into the development of the education industry. “In April 2022, after I went to the United States,
I have been committed to researching the integration of the metaverse and current educational products, developing a series of children’s music education products. In December 2022, I joined the American International Business Senior Research Institute as a researcher, focusing on the education and training industry, establishing an industry center, and serving as the center director. I want to promote resource sharing and explore the path of educational industrialization through Sino-US cooperation. At present, there is a significant educational gap between the eastern and central-western regions of our country. If we have the promotion of educational industrialization, we can optimize resource allocation, deploy resources to corresponding regions through the cloud or offline channels, and promote educational equity effectively. In addition, educational industrialization can promote educational innovation and the development of educational technology, improve teaching quality, and enhance competitiveness in the education industry. The future world must be multi-dimensional, and in this multi-dimensional space, we must connect the virtual and the real, break the limits of space, share excellent educational resources between the United States and China, and spread China’s traditional culture to the United States, promoting Sino-US exchanges and the integration of world culture.”
With magnificent mountains, there must be a main peak. Education is like a spring rain, “moistening things silently,” and Principal Zhang’s character is also like a spring rain, low-key and gentle. In his 17 years of working in the education industry, he has been quietly cultivating, constantly advancing, and the growth of students is his greatest reward.
