How Daniela Useche’s Continuing Education Defines Her Dedication to Her Work

By Arnold Thomas

For some people, getting the job they have studied and worked for is the end of the story. They work out their careers without actively moving up in their industry or continuing the progress they started in university. For others, like Daniela Useche, continuing their education is crucial to produce results.

As a medical technologist, Useche is tasked with both the taking and analysis of samples, as well as general quality control within a hospital. She checks machines to ensure they perform properly and is wary of the temperature and holding of all collected samples. While her role is invaluable, she strives to improve, as evident in the many courses she has taken to continue her education.

“Regularly attending supplemental education courses allows me to maintain my technical skills and knowledge,” says the technologist. This view keeps her functioning at the top of her game and makes her an invaluable part of the University of Florida Health Shands Hospital team. These courses are crucial for providing accurate and reliable results, which is highly valued in medicine.

With her specialty in Andrology, the branch of science and medicine that deals with diseases and conditions specific to me, Useche must keep current on the latest practices. It is a profession that requires precision and accuracy but also definitive attention to detail. She hones this through courses she attends outside of working hours.

Most often, I think of doctors or nurses when picturing those who spend years dedicated to education in the medical field. However, Useche has found “my passion, it is a career that chose me, and I am happy with that choice.” While her career is blossoming, she is keenly aware of the future possibilities.

“Supplemental education courses can lead to certifications and advanced degrees, which may enhance my career prospects and open up new opportunities for leadership and specialized roles in my field.” This approach is commendable in a world where people seem happy to settle. Inspired individuals such as Useche are essential to evoke progress.

While happy in her current role, she does see room for improvement. She hopes to expand her knowledge in clinical laboratory management, a key area as she progresses through the ranks. It is reassuring to see this level of commitment throughout the healthcare industry.

With technology advancing rapidly, hospitals are regularly updating equipment to address health challenges like infertility, diabetes, and cancer. Keeping up with these advancements requires ongoing training for technologists like Useche, supporting consistent and effective patient care.

“What we provide is the backbone of any functioning hospital,” she says of medical technologists. It is their analysis that gives doctors the information they need to carry out a diagnosis and put a treatment plan in place. They must be thorough in collecting the sample and correctly carrying out the subsequent tests. These very tests are what Usech is educated on in her supplemental courses.

The healthcare industry contains a myriad of mysteries that need answers. Daniela Useche is an individual who has these answers. Through her hard work and dedication, she is rapidly rising to the top of an industry that is currently going through a boom. While having an influx of technologists is positive, as the healthcare system needs all the help it can get, the need for properly trained individuals is at an all-time high.

Luckily, the incoming technologists at the University of Florida Health Shands Hospital have someone to look up to. Following the lead of Daniela Useche and continually educating themselves will only lead to more success. Useche continues to apply herself, looking to go even higher within her field. The healthcare industry is in good hands with people like her at the helm.
