How Brian Breach Turned His Viral Video into Continued Opportunities

Before Brian Breach’s video went viral globally, he was a hip-hop artist. He co-founded and operated a record label called GTPS with his friend, Lex One, that became an imprint under which many talented artists belonged to its umbrella. Subsequently, the team ran a successful hip-hop blog with about 2 million hits at the end of its run. Brian described his time in hip-hop as some of the best times of his life.

By the end of 2016, Brian decided to pivot away from music. It’s a decision he described as a conscious one after feeling like he had hit the ceiling and was not getting to exactly where he wanted to be. As someone who’s not a quitter, he looked for a way to continue what he started. Armed with an already verified social media profile, a considerable amount of followers, and previous experiments of infusing comedy into his music, Brian was ready for his next chapter.

For Brian, his encounter with fame began after CNN, FOX, ABC, NBC, Inside Edition as well almost every news station in the country picked up his viral video during the Christmas season. Brian was even getting messages from different places such as Greece, Russia, Hawaii, and other countries worldwide. The social experiment he shot was inspired by a video he saw on Facebook that same morning.

“I decided to dress myself up as a homeless man and write a sign out saying ‘homeless, just need a little help to feed my families through the holidays,” Brian explained. “I then stood outside of a Target store in Plantation, Florida, with my videographer parked across the street in the car and waited for people to give me money.” In what turned out to be a test of kindness, Brian decided to reward everyone who agreed to help him. “Any passersby walking into the store that gave me money or offered me food, I ended up giving them a $100 bill so they could shop. I got the most incredible reactions from people! I ended up passing out $500 in total,” he shared.

In the aftermath of him going viral, Brian faced the challenge of keeping up the momentum, so his Viral video’s buzz wouldn’t die down. As a creative who has made music considerably well, he understands what it means to keep up the momentum. As time went by, his content has been getting better and crazier. One moment, he was pulling a prank at the Miami Heat game on the Jumbotron in front of nearly 20,000 people, and in another, he was putting up a billboard with his head on a naked body off of i95 in Fort Lauderdale. He only had one goal in mind: to beat his previous success.

The momentum of his viral video led to a slew of opportunities such as speaking engagements in places like the Hamptons, Los Angeles, Puerto Rico, Miami, among several others. In addition, he has appeared as a guest on a couple of radio shows, hundreds of podcasts, guest appearances on TV shows, and featured on various magazine covers. Now, Brian is also a Ted Talk Speaker who has spoken in different parts of the country. Shortly after his video blew up, he was asked to speak about topics like, “How to make a video go viral.” However, he admits that it was the last thing he ever thought would come to fruition after going viral.

Riding the wave and the buzz the viral video created, Brian is channeling his creativity into creating a TV show called America’s Gone Viral, which he describes as a competitive show for up-and-coming entertainers and content creators. The brand has partnered with Wilhelm Cashen, chairman of the Tesla Foundation, Christine Curran, host of Dining Divas, and Len Davies, actor-producer, to make the show a reality, and it’s quite unbelievable that all this came from only one video.
