Books Over Balls: Donnell Britt of Diamond Sports Group Talks about Ambition, Hard Work, and Education

If there is one thing that today’s most successful individuals have taught us, it is that having ambition is the cornerstone of any person’s journey to the top. True enough, preparatory acts like setting goals and committing to a dream serve as the perfect foundation for success. Without drive and passion, one’s skills and talents would only be put to waste. In the case of serial entrepreneur Donnell Britt, he has shown that nothing is impossible with hard work and determination.

Contrary to the popular belief that Donnell Britt is an overnight success, the go-getter had to build everything from scratch to get to where he is today. “I would run a recruiting station on a twelve-hour shift and then go home and work on a showcase from late night to wee hours in the morning. Success doesn’t come overnight. You have to work hard, lose sleep, and continue to reinvent yourself again and again,” he said.

Standing at the helm of multiple businesses nationwide, Donnell Britt has accumulated years’ worth of knowledge and expertise in his field. As one of the foremost advocates of lifetime learning and continuous growth, he created ventures that inspire aspirants from all walks of life to be dauntless in the face of their pursuits. He wants to send across the message that through grit and perseverance, anyone can translate their dreams into reality.

Donnell Britt is a retired army veteran who has established a reputable stance in the entrepreneurial landscape as the esteemed owner and operator of Diamond Sports Group (DSG), a renowned youth sports organization that premiers athletes’ talent and skill through a National All-American Football game showcase.

Diamond Sports Group is known for its distinctive opening events, from pep rallies to a video game room and its showy top-grade uniforms and trophies. These events do not only give athletes a chance to showcase their talents, but they also allow them to compete with others across America to see how they match up.

Proving to be unstoppable at his game, Donnell Britt created two other brainchildren—Stitch It and D1 Savage Apparel. Stitch It is an embroidery business in Chesapeake, Virginia, that offers companies of any size the versatility to monetize their operations through branding and marketing. On the other hand, D1 Savage Apparel is a well-renowned high-quality football uniform company and clothing line.

Although Donnell Britt is known for his series of businesses, he is most commended for captivating his audience with his signature word SAVAGE, which stands for scholarship, academics, victorious, ambitious, goal-oriented, and educated. According to the luminary, SAVAGE is an acronym he uses to encourage athletes.

“Pursue as many scholarships as possible. Get paid to use assets and talents, whether that’s in the classroom or out on the field. Always be about academics,” Donnell Britt said. “Ambition is a gift. You must possess a strong desire to achieve everything with self-determination and hard work! You can’t get far without goals. Set goals and be oriented towards them. Never stop learning,” he added.

With his solid principles and sound values, Donnell Britt has shown that D1 Savage Apparel is not only a brand but also a lifestyle. As a believer in the motto “Books over balls,” he took on the challenge of instilling the importance of knowledge, education, and learning in the process of achieving goals and accomplishing dreams.
