Ron Shahani, the President and CEO of Acro Service Corporation, embarked on a remarkable journey when he founded the company in 1982. With a projected revenue exceeding $600 million in 2023, Acro has risen to the ranks of the top 50 staffing companies in the United States, an outstanding feat among over 20,000 staffing firms. However, Ron’s story is not merely about business success — it’s a testament to resilience, entrepreneurship, and a commitment to giving back.
Ron’s exceptional contributions have resulted in numerous awards, including the Michigan Governor’s New Americans Leadership Award, which recognizes his leadership as an immigrant who has made a significant impact. He has also been given the Minority Professional Services Firm Award from The US Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), an Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Ernst & Young, and a Diverse Business Leader recognition from Corp! Magazine. His accolades continue with the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Emerging Global Leader Award, which acknowledges his role in shaping global business landscapes, and an Emerging Ten (E-10) Award from the Houston Business Journal, recognizing him as a business leader to watch.
From his humble beginnings to becoming an industry leader and a minority entrepreneur, Ron’s journey is an inspiring narrative featured in a documentary film selected for the East Lansing Film Festival. His story is also a vital part of the book ”Breaking Through: Leadership Disciplines from Top Performing Staffing Firms” which showcases his success as a model for smaller staffing organizations, particularly minority-owned businesses (MBEs).
Beyond his professional achievements, Ron is deeply committed to community and leadership. He serves on the MMSDC Board of Directors and holds the title of Chairman Emeritus on the Board of Directors of the Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce. Ron has served on the board of trustees of the Henry Ford Health System and has been a member of the boards of directors of several prominent organizations, including Covenant House Michigan, Zoe Foundation, Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Michigan Chamber of Commerce.
Ron’s entrepreneurial spirit is not limited to the boardroom, however, as he has also harnessed his skills to make a meaningful impact on communities. Under his leadership, Acro actively supports local programs, educational institutions, and government initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life in the Detroit area. Ron and his wife, Chris, are actively involved in these efforts. They reside in Northville, Michigan, and are proud parents to two sons, Rajiv and Sanjeev.
Acro’s journey is a testament to vision, dedication, and excellence. Founded in 1982 and incorporated as a Michigan corporation headquartered in Livonia, Michigan, Acro’s 40-year history has been marked by primarily organic growth.
