Meet Aurelia Faidley-Solars, the Prodigy Cellist who Dances!

*When I met 12- Year old Aurelia “Ellie” on a Zoom call last month, she first appeared like any other normal pre-teen. She gave me a tour of her bedroom, which contains more art supplies than a “Michael’s”, introduced me to her pet Autumn, a crested gecko, and called me “bruh” within the first five minutes.*

I was following up with Ellie since taking notice of her last February when she gave a tremendous concert in Lausanne, Switzerland, where the young cellist received nine curtain calls after a performance of Haydn’s C Major Cello Concerto with the Amati Philharmonic.

Ellie told me that immediately following that success, she was thrilled to dive into New York City Ballet’s run of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. She says the feeling of being on the Lincoln Center stage at the Koch Theater is like no other – pure thrill – and that she loves dancing as much as she does playing the cello.

Over the summer, Ellie attended the prestigious Meadowmount School of Music with her teacher of several years, Han Jørgen Jensen. She is currently attending the Juilliard School’s preeminent Pre-College Division under the tutelage of concert artist, Natasha Brofsky. She is small in stature but has an overwhelmingly big personality. She plays a 3/4 size cello now, made for her by world-renowned luthier, Frank Ravatin, in Vannes, France. She said her cello helps her create “her sound” and that is a very specific sound.

Every Saturday, Ellie hops out of bed at 7:30 and packs for her day. She heads to School of American Ballet first where takes an intense technique class. At 11:00, she heads next door to The Juilliard School, with “Frankie” the cello on her back and pointe shoes dangling from her ballet bag. She goes to orchestra, theory, ear training, studio performance / technique class, and her favorite hour of the week : chamber music. She is in a trio with two other exceptional young musicians, Ivy Hahn, violin and Ava Gao, piano, who are studying Beethoven right now. Her favorite teacher is violinist Laura Goldberg, who seems to “get” Ellie and her love of this art.

In early October, her first album was released on Spotify, called “From Bach to Summerland”. She performs Bach, Summerland by William Grant Still, and the Elgar Concerto. In a review by Huntley Dent, he writes, “If you wonder how such a young performer might fare in the first two movements of the Elgar Cello Concerto, Faidley-Solars puts on her Jacqueline du Pré cap for a passionately felt introduction to the first movement. She has excellent intonation (small hands prove no hindrance), with barely a slip in the double stops. She renders the main theme with ardent emotion and rises to the highest register with fearless assurance. In the second movement she grabs the limelight with her bold pizzicatos and manages the tempo changes without the slightest hesitation. She has real presence. She is it.”

Right now, Ellie is very excited to be a “Candy Cane” in the New York City Ballet’s Nutcracker, especially after not being able to perform for two heartbreaking years due to the pandemic. She will level out at the end of this year. She loves being on stage with the company members and has many ballet heroes, including Tiler Peck, Ashley Laracey, and Mira Nadon. She also can’t wait to “dance Candy Cane with Daniel Ulbricht!”

When asked about cello and ballet, two extremely demanding art forms, seemingly competing for time in her busy little life, she blows off the question and says, “I love them both! That’s my life! Who cares about math anyway?” (Mom was quick to interrupt the Zoom call and let me know that SHE cares about Math and Ellie is doing very well in Honor’s Algebra 1). Ellie tells me that she enjoys the same things about Juilliard and School of American Ballet: the strict curriculum, the serious teachers, the focused students.

She is definitely a pre-teen, but an unusual one. Mom, Elizabeth Faidley, might be exhausted by keeping up with this ball of fire, but willing to follow these pointe shoes wherever they leap. After speaking with Ellie today, I would venture to predict that they will leap very high.

PositiveVibes Magazine on Sharing Stories that Evoke Transformational Change and Espousing Narratives of Hope and Healing

The rise of social media has helped further the conversation on mental health, allowing people from all walks of life to contribute to the mission of combating stigma and promoting psychological well-being. However, as much as platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and Facebook have made it possible to raise awareness about the impact mental health conditions have on one’s quality of life, they have also given birth to toxic spaces that have played a role in the deterioration of the mental state of today’s digital users. Fueled by the overarching goal to bring positive messages that can make a difference amid the bleak social landscape, Zane Landin established PositiveVibes Magazine in the aftermath of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Even before the pandemic, a long string of questions has kept Zane Landin wondering. A recent graduate from Cal Poly Pomona who studied communication and public relations, the PositiveVibes Magazine founder, has long been plagued with concerns over how exactly people can positively shift the world.

To some extent, the launch of PositiveVibes Magazine was an attempt to make sense of the hard-hitting questions that Zane Landin hopes to address. Currently, this international digital magazine and podcast series is making its mark by sharing inspiring stories evoking transformational change.

“In today’s fast-paced world, we don’t always remember to slow down. To ask what truly makes us happy. What brings a smile to our faces and joy to our hearts? How do we take care of ourselves – inside and out? What gives our lives fulfillment and meaning? At PositiveVibes Magazine, we explore these questions and many more,” shared the dedicated team led by Zane Landin, which consists of writers from across the country.

At the heart of PositiveVibes Magazine is the firm belief in the power of storytelling and the importance of giving a spotlight to narratives that espouse hope, healing, and community-building. “Storytelling is powerful, and we must see more authentic stories reflected in the media,” added Zane Landin. “Once positive, authentic stories are told, an organic ripple effect will transform pain and adversity into a purpose for people and communities.”

While there is always a constant need for platforms that advocate for positivity and well-being, the collective mental state of the global population following COVID-19 demanded a heavier emphasis on fostering mental health. Through its efforts, PositiveVibes Magazine aims to stand at the frontlines of the cause.

Since its creation, PositiveVibes Magazine has livened up the digital space with content that spans anything that contributes to the movement of positivity, including poetry, literature, art, spirituality, and music. Additionally, it has provided an avenue for like-minded individuals to reflect, absorb, and ponder what they can offer to make the world safer and brighter. Zane and his team have featured over 80 powerful change agents, from mental health advocates to spiritual leaders.

Moving forward, PositiveVibes Magazine intends to remain a go-to community for changemakers, visionaries, and purpose-driven figures. Moreover, its passion-fueled team will continue to restore humanity, faith, and positivism by featuring people who are the hidden gems in society and showcasing stories worth covering.

How 5 Star Smiles is Transforming Smiles and Boosting the Confidence of Many

Maintaining good dental health is essential for emotional and physical well-being. Frequent visits to a reputable and experienced dentist are crucial to helping you maintain good dental health. These are among the most recommended ways to avert dental complications since dentists can detect any oral problem and fix it in good time.

5 Star Smiles is a reputable dental business promoting proper dental health and awareness to hundreds of lives in Miami. It was founded in 2018 by Danielle Noguera, who serves as the chief executive officer after having a personal smile makeover. Surprisingly, Danielle has made his way into the dental industry and dominated without any prior dental background, peculiar to most reputable dental groups. “I’ve also been able to craft the perfect recipe by leveraging social media platforms with the help of many celebrities to create an awareness for oral care,” disclosed Danielle.

According to the CEO, she has incorporated a hands-on and dedicated team to propel the business to where it is today. 5 Star Smiles has recorded significant growth since its inception, thanks to the team’s stellar performance. Besides, they offer reasonable charges and quality services, putting the clinic into the limelight as one of the most reputable and sought-after dentistry clinics in Miami, Florida.

5 Star Smiles is not your average office. “We have an entire team waiting to give you an outstanding experience from the moment you walk into our doors. We pride ourselves in creating and maintaining long-term relationships with our clients through our family-oriented culture that extends to the workplace. Clients visiting 5-star Smiles are greeted with such a pleasant atmosphere that they become reluctant to leave. The vibe, the staff, and our work culture set us apart. You come in as a patient; you leave as family,” asserts the CEO.

Danielle has amassed a professional and experienced team of cosmetic dentists with over 20 years of practice to offer unbeatable services to hundreds of Miami residents. In addition, the team has worked as cosmetic specialists, dentistry course developers, and university professors. To improve their customer experience and confidence, Danielle has invested in the latest state-of-the-art dental technology and equipment. The results are beyond their customer’s expectations, and many have been overwhelmed by the CEO’s relentless efforts to cement the clinic’s name across the USA and beyond.

Like many other businesses, starting sometimes poses a lot of challenges; as Danielle had a fair share of challenges to stand up to, despite this, she persevered. Consequently, she has been awed by its rapid growth and the many smiles the team has been able to transform within a short period. “It was challenging watching all long-standing dental practices begin to imitate us and our marketing style. We took the industry by surprise, and almost every competitor began tearing pages from our book, literally using our scheme as a template daily. I know they say imitation is flattery, but it’s frustrating when it’s done so blatantly,” shared Danielle.

In response to the wisdom behind the clinic’s success, the 5 Star Smiles CEO said, “You are only as good as your team. There’s nothing I could have single-handedly done. Figure out exactly what you need, then find the strongest team players to fulfill those needs.” Beyond all odds, 5 Star Smiles remains unwavering in its resolve to dominate all major cities in the US in the next five years; in pursuance of this endeavor, they are currently shopping for suitable locations on the west coast.

Cody Jefferson – A Mentor By Choice And Not By Chance

With an unshakeable confidence, welcoming demeanor and unique style of living, it’s no surprise Cody Jefferson’s Embrace The Lion has become the refuge and catalyst for countless men in business. He understands that the impact of work-life “balance” can be exhausting to the point where one is stuck in a tedious loop; a cyclical pattern that worsens as one loses interest, motivation, and finds themselves wondering what it’s all for and why it doesn’t feel like they thought it would.

Cody, through the various opportunities found within ETL, pays special attention to the issues faced by businessmen, CEOs, and Entrepreneurs who, in the pursuit of success, create chaos in other areas of their life. While this chaos is certainly not deliberate, the frustration that mounts for men in business with families is palpable. From feeling overwhelmed, burned out, bored, stuck to being deeply fulfilled, spiritually alive, physically fit, financially scaling, relationally intimate and self-reliant, Cody transforms his clients. He is a true mentor who never leaves his clients stranded and instead gives them a pathway to accomplish that deeper fulfillment and joy in all areas of life.

Cody Jefferson is today able to help others because he was able to help himself. After a devastating season of immense loss, burying 8 family members and friends within a year while going through a divorce, it was then he recognized the fragility of life and the mediocre level at which he was playing. While it took courage and resilience to overcome the personal trauma, it took even more to recognize that, as a pastor of over 10 years, he’d become a “yes” man whose self-worth was completely wrapped up in title, position, and affirmation. The stress and overwhelm took him into early sepsis in 2016 where, in a hospital room where he could have easily died, he looked in the mirror and asked himself this question: “What needs to die in you to become the man you said you’d be? Is this your legacy? Dying to save everyone else and leaving your son fatherless because you couldn’t say ‘no’ to your work?”

Embrace the Lion was born. He did not step into this field by chance but by choice after seeing many good men sacrifice their souls on the altar of their success. Today, under his mentorship, thousands of people have been able to scale their businesses without burning out while becoming the healthiest, most fulfilled versions of themselves in the process. He is also recognized as one of the top keynote speakers in the country, effortlessly weaving together 20 years of storytelling from the stage. As he says, “I may have stepped out of the pulpit, but it was all preparation for this platform God had planned all along.”

Cody Jefferson provides the best tools for men to dream of a king’s life and live one. His enthusiasm, empathy, and expertise give him an edge over the others. He values his client’s time and resources and ensures that every second they spend in the process is resourceful. Cody Jefferson’s passion has helped him become a powerhouse in his industry and a household name in coaching. With all his notoriety, to sit with Cody, you’ll be a humble man who wishes the best for others and simply wants to be known as “Stetson’s dad.”

From tennis champion to award-winning cinematographer: Lucia Zavarcikova’s journey to becoming the talent behind the camera for top-tier brands and beloved television programs

Since childhood, Lucia Zavarcikova’s guiding forces have been discipline and passion. As a young girl, she fell in love with tennis and demonstrated an extraordinary natural ability for the game. She began training seriously and won countless tournaments, both in her home country of Slovakia and in Europe. She dreamed of going pro and her ever-increasing wins suggested that her dream would likely come true. However, while competing at a prestigious tournament in Austria at the age of thirteen, the joy of tennis suddenly vanished and never returned.

Back in Slovakia, Zavarcikova drifted. Without the sense of purpose that tennis had provided, her teenage years blurred together. Upon graduating high school, she enrolled in a local university where she was assigned a short film project. At that time, the weather was very stormy and Zavarcikova had a vision of a figure walking through old town Bratislava in the pouring rain, wearing scuba gear. She threw herself into sourcing diving equipment and coaxing a student actor to appear in her project. She succeeded on both counts, although the actor complained throughout the shoot, pulling off his mask at regular intervals to ask how much longer she wanted to keep going. As he marched slowly, careful not to trip on his fins, Zavarcikova did not share his eagerness to go home and change into dry clothes. The passion that had disappeared when she quit tennis was back, now that a camera was in her hands.

With her drive restored, Zavarcikova applied to The Academy of Art in San Francisco as a cinematography student and was overjoyed when her acceptance letter arrived. However, her happiness was quickly replaced with a gut-wrenching predicament: she had no money to pay for tuition. Luckily, The Academy also had an athletics department and Zavarcikova was able to obtain a full-ride athletic scholarship, based on her former success in tennis. Fulfilling her duties to the tennis team as a full-time film student was hectic; she was constantly racing from tennis practices and tournaments to film sets. She began a habit of carrying ice packs to soothe her aching arms, doubly sore from wielding a tennis racquet and carrying cameras and heavy gear. Despite her grueling schedule, she managed to shoot fifteen short films as DP (Director of Photography) and work on over ninety sets, performing various roles within the camera and lighting departments.

Zavarcikova’s life once again became a blur, but unlike her teenage years, it was a blur of accomplishments and creative growth. Upon graduating, she once again relinquished tennis and devoted her entire life to filmmaking. She created a short film titled, “Esther,” which earned two nominations for Best Cinematography and six awards for Best Picture at international festivals. As a young talent to watch, Zavarcikova landed her first gig with a top-tier brand, the technology giant, Salesforce. The company was creating a feature-length documentary, “Story of Sales,” which was later screened nation-wide, and Zavarcikova came on as DP. Her work on this project cemented her arrival as a professional filmmaker, capable of big-time projects with leading industry players.

Despite the substantial wins of her post graduation years, Zavarcikova was hungry to continue learning and enrolled in the AFI Conservatory in Los Angeles in 2018, to pursue an MFA in Cinematography. Upon completing the program, she once again received numerous awards, this time, for her thesis film “Apart, Together.” The project won Best Live Action Short at the 2021 GSA BAFTA Student Awards, Best Narrative Short at 44th AAIFF, Women in Film award at HollyShorts, a DGA award, and is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Following the success of “Apart, Together,” Zavarcikova created her first narrative feature “Only The Good Survive” with Sidney Flanigan (“Never Rarely Sometimes Always”) and D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (“Reservation Dogs”) in leading roles. Since then, she has worked as a full-time cinematographer in Los Angeles and Slovakia for mega clients such as Amazon Music, Maison Kitsune, Viacom and even the world-famous children’s program, Sesame Street. She has developed a reputation for potent visual storytelling and for being able to expertly infuse subtext into her work. In demand wherever she goes, Zavacikova frequently travels the globe for assignments and particularly enjoys working in Slovakia, San Francisco and her current hometown of Los Angeles.

Between major brand assignments, she creates narrative and short film projects and also contributes her time to international cinematography institutes. In 2022, she represented Slovakia at the International Cinematography Summit, hosted by the ASC, as a delegate of the Association of Slovak Cinematographers. She is currently represented by APA agency.

Looking back, Zavarcikova feels a sense of gratitude and awe that tennis—her dream that did not work out—unexpectedly helped her realize her true calling of becoming an award-winning, internationally-acclaimed cinematographer.

Fast Fashion and the Human Rights and Ethical Concerns it Brings to Light

Until the 1960s, fashion trends were primarily season-influenced. Experts planned the fall, winter, spring, and summer collections months in advance. Eventually, fashion became more progressively relaxed. It embraced a mood of informality. But with time, and the advent of the 2000s, manufacturers started (legally) imitating clothing from major runway shows.

As more and more consumers gave in, companies accelerated their processes to meet the pouring demands. Beauty had an all-new meaning, and women had more choices. But the industry created an unanticipated and seemingly never-ending loop of concerns with fast fashion that had less to do with body positivity and was more about revolutionizing the sector, probably the incorrect way.

What Is Fast Fashion?

In the 1990s, New York Times officially coined the term “Fast Fashion” when Zara landed in the city and began mass producing high volumes of cheaper quality clothing to bring inexpensive styles to the end consumer within days. Fast forward to 2022, brands like Shein, GAP, H&M, Mango, ‎Uniqlo, and ‎Forever 21 have all joined the bandwagon.

Fast fashion makes fashion reasonable and accessible to many. Prices are slashed significantly, and options are wider to respond to the latest trends. Also, with social media picking up, fast fashion brands mostly turn to fashion influencers to promote products online. As opposed to the four-season trends, brands now prepare for several micro seasons, and it’s all happening at an incredible rate.

But how did fast fashion become a problem? The unethical trade practices are to be blamed. Today, nearly 80 billion pieces are consumed worldwide. Around $500 billion of value is lost due to a lack of recycling efforts. Of all the items produced as a result of fast fashion, every 3 out of 5 pieces end up in the landfill.

But since many consumers cannot afford ethically produced fashion, the war between fast and eco-fashion remains somewhere in the middle of the battleground.

How Is Fast Fashion A Problem?

Why is everyone fussing over fast fashion when all it does is bring high-end clothing closer to consumers? Here are the problems with fast fashion:

1. The Soaring Customer Demand

Disposable clothing trends thrive because consumers demand cheaper garments produced at lightning speeds. It’s innovative, fun, and practical and offers instant gratification. But creating new fashion daily is also costing the environment.

2. Mass Production

Clothes are getting cheaper. But with reduced prices, quality suffers. And while everything’s fashionable yet reasonable and convenient, trends are growing exponentially. So mass production is possible. But it also leads to considerable textile and resource wastage. Women fall victim to trends and barely find their perfect fit. Besides, mass-producing garments don’t fit into the no-waste economy model.

3. Low Quality

How do you think fast fashion is coping with the increasing market demand? By offering low-quality clothing. The craftsmanship is significantly compromised. There’s more use of underpaid unskilled labor. Besides, companies utilize the cheapest materials to churn out billions of pieces annually.

4. Cheap Labor

Usually, fast fashion brands hire cheap female or child laborers from countries like Bangladesh, India, China, and Vietnam, which is one of the worst reasons fast fashion is problematic. Their working conditions are inhumane. They work unbearably long hours, are paid terribly low, and work in hazardous circumstances. There’s literally a humanitarian crisis going on in the fast fashion industry.

5. Little Care for the Environment

This is another major problem with fast fashion companies. It hurts the environment. Unsustainable brands are bringing down rainforests, consuming excess energy during production cycles, polluting the water by dumping untreated chemicals, contaminating the soil with synthetic fibers, and dramatically increasing discarded waste.

A Viable Alternative to Fast Fashion? Sustainable Fashion!

Fast fashion is a problematic industry since it causes human and environmental challenges. There’s the overconsumption of natural resources, with so much ending up in landfills, and a constant push for low labor costs and unsafe working conditions. All this has led to disastrous manufacturing practices, and none is sustainable in the long run.

The solution? Sustainability fashion. Sustainable brands celebrate the beautiful female form and are ethical and confidence-invoking.

But again, it would be unrealistic to think that all production can be 100% sustainable right away. Fast fashion remains in very high demand. So, the mass buying consumer behavior must change, and corporations, too, must invest in a positive mindset shift to make fashion viable but also sustainable.

Saina – Sustainable Approach to Fashion

Fast fashion exhausts so many women all around the globe. But sustainable fashion that celebrates women is the new formula to fast fashion. Companies like Saina are game-changer in the industry heavily plagued with fast-fashion-induced concerns.

Saina is a women’s clothing brand that’s approaching fashion with sustainability in mind. This sustainable brand offers high-quality clothing and well-made designs that are stylish and empower women to feel their confident selves. The brand encourages women to dress for their bodies and not be forced into fashion not meant for them. Saina features daily wear and sportswear collections that women can be proud to wear, accentuating their inner and outside beauty.

Founder Saina Nia believes that the fashion industry is becoming more about influencer-led trends, sponsored ads, and no worthy brands for women to invest their hard-earned money in. Hence, Saina offers high-quality pieces that promote body positivity and celebrate women.

Sustainable brands like Saina are putting power back into the hands of those who deserve it. Click here to learn more about the sustainability of Saina.

How Lisa Kastner’s Advocacy for Inclusivity and Diversity Is Changing the Publishing Landscape

People have found several new ways to communicate and express themselves. Still, none of them has compared to storytelling’s sheer power and impact. After all, sharing experiences is a sacred practice that humans have long participated in, dating back to ancient times. But unfortunately, the publishing industry has commodified the art of telling stories by only providing a platform for manuscripts they deem profitable.

Because of this, Lisa Kastner is keen on disrupting this restrictive practice through her venture, Running Wild Press. As the Founder and Executive Editor of the enterprise, the remarkable woman’s mission is to publish great genre stories from authors of all backgrounds. In addition, she created RIZE Press, a subsidiary of Running Wild, which specializes in publishing creations by BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ writers.

This impressive commitment to her vision and advocacy has allowed the entrepreneur to elevate the publishing scene to greater heights by propelling it away from the typical literature of today’s market, which features overused plot lines and repetitive themes. As a result of this forward-thinking approach, Running Wild Press has been awarded two best of 2019 and two best of 2020 books by Kirkus Reviews.

Alongside the brand’s impressive accomplishments, Lisa has also solidified her reputation as a thought leader. As a result, she has earned respect and admiration of her peers and prestigious organizations. As a testament to this, the inspiring woman was named one of Yahoo Finance’s Top 10 Entrepreneurs to Watch in 2021. On top of that, she was nominated for FORBES NEXT 1000, a list of American self-funded entrepreneurs who continue to strive during the pandemic.

Moving forward, Lisa Kastner intends to continue championing her advocacy of making the publishing industry more inclusive and diverse. As the visionary meaningfully shared, “At Running Wild Press. We believe that great stories don’t fit neatly in a box. Most stories available today are simply, unoriginal, and in the end, boring, which makes you feel tired and unheard. Our stories can’t be contained, neatly categorized, or homogenized, just like you.”
