Motivational speaker Dia Joseph believes that individual actions and consequences can influence the direction of the world, empowering people to choose happiness through positive intentions.
All the chaos in the world, all the uncertainty, all the volatility may be seen as a direct consequence of misaligned energies and actions performed without positive intention. Especially today, in an interconnected era where the dire state of humanity is on display across news channels and magazine headlines, it’s easier to feel helpless than ever before. For Fedia ‘Dia’ Joseph, affectionately known as the Jesus Girl, this interconnectedness is where peace and happiness may lie, emphasizing that individual energies can impact one another in ways beyond human comprehension.
Central to everything is the eternal relationship between actions and consequences. “With so many things happening in the world, we rarely slow down to understand the reasons behind this chaos,” Dia shares. “Every action has a consequence, and negativity, just like positivity, often multiplies. Not realizing that is almost like lighting a fire and letting it burn.”
Even the smallest interactions and seemingly trivial actions can lead to tangible changes. This motivational speaker realized that just the other day when engaged in a conversation about connection with her taxi driver, she heard him aver: We have snow, and we’re happy, but the world gets slippery. “Just like everything is connected, we can also never have the good without the bad, and vice versa,” she adds. “Perhaps the answer to everything is in maintaining that balance?”
Because everything and everyone is connected by an invisible thread crafted by the universe, every single choice may, in fact, matter. To foster a world of positivity collectively, people must individually, take responsibility for their actions and consequences. Dia adds that while not every action brings immediate consequences, the energy you give away often returns, potentially rippling through other people’s lives and happiness. “Against the world’s infinity, one person may seem like a speck of dust,” Dia says. “But the actions we take can hold immense power.”
Consequences can never be predicted. However, the probability of positive consequences may be increased by setting positive intentions behind every action. As Dia believes, God works in mysterious ways, enriching your path with those people, challenges, and victories that may shape you into the person you’re meant to become. However, by treating others with respect and kindness, you may naturally attract similar wavelengths. “You need to realize that you can write your own destiny,” she adds. “The road might be taxing and difficult, but it can be worth it.”

Dia also recognizes that, though it seems unfair, acting from a place of positivity cannot guarantee positive consequences. Instead of rebelling against the innate uncertainty of life, she presents a different approach. “Simply let go of all expectations and surrender to the journey! Life isn’t linear, and as upsetting as it is, challenges will always arise,” affirms Dia. “Once again, it all comes down to how you treat them. Will you think it’s the universe playing a cruel joke, or will you take them as a valuable lesson?”
Though not every instance can—nor should it—be positive, staying grounded and acting from a place of love, even amidst turmoil, may bring you one step closer to purpose and happiness. From meditation to therapy to trusting in divinity, people are constantly seeking ways to align their minds, bodies, and souls. For Dia, spiritual awakening was the catalyst of change she needed.
“When you give in to spirituality, you stop knowing and start feeling. It opens the doors to a realm of profound understanding, helping you feel more in tune with nature, animals, and other people,” she shares. “It’s a blessing that comes with its struggles—after all, everything has two sides. The joys of others can become your triumphs, too, but so may their suffering. When you open your heart to divinity, your eyes open to the nuanced world around you, and everything can become clearer.”
The clarity that comes from spirituality may also help individuals return to the right path when they take the wrong turn, acting as a guiding light that never dims. All you need to do is open your eyes to all the possibilities.
“Your actions are your responsibility, and so are the consequences that follow. Once you realize that, the faults of others may not hurt you—because their wrongdoings were up to them, never because of you. Understanding the power of responsibility can be liberating, helping you let go of grudges and past traumas to adjust the course of your own life,” Dia reflects. “Your path is your own to carve. But if every person intends to spread love, hope, and positivity, we can potentially make the world a better place together—one action and one consequence at a time.”
