Esther: My passion for narrative and the ability of words to express nuanced feelings and concepts ignited my interest in writing. At this point in my life, I discovered that writing enables me to delve deeply into other people’s viewpoints and establish meaningful connections.

Steven: Did a particular moment or event inspire you to start writing?

Esther: My decision to begin writing resulted from a variety of events and influences rather than a single incident or moment. However, reading moving stories and seeing how they affected me and others really influenced my desire to become a writer.

Steven: How do you find inspiration for your stories or pieces? Are there any specific experiences or people that influence your writing?

Esther: I draw inspiration for my stories from a range of sources, such as people in my immediate vicinity, historical occurrences, and my own experiences. For example, historical descriptions of forbidden love and the intricate dynamics of power and emotion in such relationships informed my recent short fiction about a slave’s infatuation with his owner’s daughter (The Covetous Connection).
