Margrét Rósa Magnusdóttir is a talented actress with a passion for storytelling. From a young age, she discovered her love for acting through school plays and creative performances. In fifth grade, she had the opportunity to create her own character and script, which sparked her love for entertaining others with her own creations. The laughter and positive feedback she received from her classmates and teachers solidified her passion for acting.

During her early career, Margrét received memorable feedback that encouraged her to continue pursuing acting. Her teacher commended her for always surprising him with her unique performances. He described her as crazy, weird, and funny, which she took as the highest compliment. This feedback fueled her determination to explore different roles and push boundaries in her craft.

Growing up in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland, had a significant impact on Margret’s approach to acting and her creative outlook. The vibrant arts scene in Iceland, with its popular theaters and emphasis on artistic expression, inspired her to pursue her passion. With art classes and acting programs available in her school, Margrét eagerly participated in various creative activities. Moving from Iceland to Los Angeles presented both opportunities and challenges for Margret. Leaving her family behind was undoubtedly the biggest challenge she faced. Being away from them during important moments and not being able to attend family gatherings took a toll on her. However, she made the difficult decision to pursue her acting career in Los Angeles, knowing that her family supported her dreams. Margret’s Icelandic heritage sets her apart in the diverse acting scene of Los Angeles. As one of the few Icelandic actors, she brings a unique perspective and cultural background to her roles. Living in Los Angeles has led to some humorous cultural misunderstandings for Margret. In Iceland, it is common to address teachers by their first names. However, in one of her acting classes, she accidentally called her teacher by her first name repeatedly, unaware of the stricter etiquette. Eventually, her teacher expressed her frustration, demanding to be addressed by her last name and “Miss.” Despite the initial confusion, Margret’s habit persisted, and her teacher eventually gave up, allowing her to continue using her first name.

Despite living in Los Angeles, Margrét stays connected with her Icelandic roots. She moved to LA with her best friend, who is also Icelandic, and they speak Icelandic to each other to maintain their language skills. Margrét has also joined a group of Icelandic individuals who gather on special occasions to celebrate Icelandic holidays and indulge in Icelandic cuisine. These connections help her stay connected to her homeland and keep her updated on the latest news from Iceland.

For young actors from small countries aspiring to have an international career, Margrét offers simple yet powerful advice: go after what you want and ignore the naysayers. She encourages aspiring actors to pursue their dreams with determination, regardless of how challenging or intimidating it may seem. Margrét believes that taking the leap and giving it your all is what truly matters, regardless of the outcome.

Adjusting to the different paces of life between Iceland and Los Angeles was a relatively smooth process for Margret. Moving with her best friend provided a support system, and they navigated the adjustments.
