Teedra Bernard: The HR Leader Redefining Growth and Breaking Barriers

The Human Resources (HR) department is often seen as the backbone of organizations, responsible for managing their valuable assets: people. In today’s fast-paced, rapidly evolving, and competitive world of business, HR leaders play a vital role in compelling growth, promoting inclusion, and overcoming challenges.

One such leader who embodies these qualities and has gone beyond the norm to shatter boundaries in business is a senior HR executive, entrepreneur, mother, and wife, Teedra Bernard. Bernard holds memberships at exclusive organizations such as the Forbes HR Council, World 50 Women’s Network, and Black Women on Boards. She frequently participates in speaking engagements where she unleashes her storytelling and expertise, resonating with audiences worldwide.

Over the years, Bernard’s journey has morphed into a shining example of what it means to seize opportunities and navigate challenges with resilience and resolve. Born out of a desire to merge technology, math, and science, Bernard initially pursued a career in engineering. However, a negative experience at a career fair ultimately led her to change her mind. She would eventually find her passion in sales and later transition to HR.

Her early career experiences, from selling pharmaceuticals in the Midwest to working in investment banking in NYC, provided her with a diverse skill set and a deep understanding of industries that few others possess. It was during her time at Barclays Capital that Bernard discovered her passion for HR, which effectively led to her career in the field.

As she navigated the realm of HR, Bernard amassed multiple career highlights, including her role as Director of HR Mergers & Acquisitions. There she led a global team through the full deal lifecycle, partnering with primary business leaders to achieve defined objectives. Additionally, she served as a Senior HR Business Partner for Enterprise Group Servers, providing strategic HR leadership for multibillion-dollar revenue-generating groups.

In addition to her corporate roles, Bernard is notable for being a passionate entrepreneur, owning and managing successful barbershops in the Houston, Texas area. Her entrepreneurial spirit is evident in her approach to human resources, where she constantly seeks to innovate and drive change. This expertise in talent development, inclusion, and entrepreneurship has made her a highly sought-after speaker at prestigious events such as the WorkBeyond Summit, DEI Panels, and Qualtrics Conference.

Bernard‘s impressive achievements have done everything but go unnoticed. She has been recognized as one of the Top 15 Chief Diversity Officers by DiversityGlobal Magazine and a finalist for I&D Leader Of The Year by World 50. Her pledge to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) is apparent in her work, where she has spearheaded initiatives to build a more inclusive workplace.

Despite her remarkable success, Bernard has certainly faced her fair share of challenges, including navigating family responsibilities. Nevertheless, she has embraced all obstacles as opportunities to expand. Her story serves as an inspiration to aspiring HR leaders, entrepreneurs, and other passionate professionals, showing that anything is possible.

Looking to the future, Bernard aims to continue making an impact on community life and careers. Her goal is to connect talent with opportunities, shaping business strategies and stories that help organizations achieve their goals. As more than an HR leader, Bernard has transformed into a prominent beacon of inspiration with a story defined by the power of resilience, determination, and authenticity in driving positive changes, overcoming challenges, and building success.
