Recently, Concept Artist Yangxuan Zhou’s personal design work”Immerse City” had the honor of being selected for the 2024 contemporary art exhibition “ROTOR” held at the renowned Louvre Museum in France. As one of the world’s most prestigious art museums, the Louvre upholds incredibly stringent curatorial standards, offering exhibition opportunities to only a select few. The inclusion in this exhibition stands as the highest form of recognition and honor for a Concept Artist. It not only affirms Zhou’s talent within the realm of concept art but also underscores the influential and creative impact of Chinese artists within the global art sphere.
In this artwork, Yangxuan Zhou delves into Chinese science fiction, seamlessly intertwining traditional culture with futuristic narratives to create six captivating scenes. This not only earned him acclaim in the art world but also propelled Chinese culture onto the global stage. Additionally, “Immerse City” received the Silver Award in the Professional Group at the 2023 GLOBAL GAME ART CONTEST(GGAC) competition, garnering widespread praise for its originality and depth by both judges and audiences. Zhou firmly believes that art contributes to a profound understanding of future societal and human relations. Therefore, he incorporates narrative and emotional insights into conceptual design, a crucial factor underlying the profound significance of his creations. Moving forward, he aims to further explore the fusion of science fiction and traditional culture, utilizing concept design to open up more possibilities at the intersection of art and technology.
As a concept artist, Yangxuan Zhou has emerged as a trailblazer in the global field of concept design, thanks to his international perspective and notable achievements within the design realm. As the principal environment concept artist for “Relaunching the Classic of Mountains and Rivers,” Zhou merged concept design with new media, projection, and metaverse, crafting an immensely immersive futuristic world. His innovative design not only made the project stand out as the most captivating cultural and tourism symbol in Wuhan in 2023 but also, by creating numerous interactive installations, allowed the audience to experience firsthand the allure of ancient mythology coexisting with science fiction. Serving as China’s pioneering digital entertainment project centered on Chinese mythology, Yangxuan Zhou not only redefined the status of concept design in entertainment but also enriched the audience’s emotional experiences and intellectual depth through his designs. This piece not only showcases Zhou’s profound integration of technology, innovation, and concept design but also leads people to reconsider the convergence of traditional and modern cultures.
Additionally, Zhou’s involvement as the principal concept artist in the “Finding the Gods” project showcased his extensive creativity and outstanding design prowess. This project, established with an investment of 50 million RMB by the Xianju County government, marked China’s first large-scale immersive forest night tour in 2022. Set against the backdrop of the natural scenery and cultural resources around Ruyi Lake, the project ingeniously fused cutting-edge projection and screen technology, creating an otherworldly atmosphere resembling a fairyland. Following its completion, the project drew a significant influx of tourists to the area, receiving unanimous acclaim. Consequently, the Shenxianju Tourism Group was honored as a national-level exemplary entity in civil tourism. From January to April 2023, the Shenxianju scenic area attraction received approximately 870,000 visitors, generating revenue of 150 million RMB. These statistics vividly illustrate the impactful outcomes brought by Zhou’s concept design and underscore his profound contributions to regional development and cultural tourism promotion.
