Blinded by the Light explores the paradox of utilizing a camera lens to capture moments that might elude the untrained eye. Supernovas and stars, though dazzling enough to project light across vast distances, are often recognized solely for their beauty and ability to guide travelers through uncharted territory. Similarly, many celebrities and notable figures appear distant, known only for their looks and achievements. Filbert’s exhibit, however, equates the radiance of starlight with his camera’s flash, illuminating the inner essence of his subjects. Through these brief, brilliant flashes of light, he captures their genuine emotions, revealing the most authentic truths in moments of darkness. The exhibition invites viewers to witness these rare instances of introspection from Filbert’s exclusive vantage point as the man behind the lens.

Originally drawn to painting and drawing, Filbert’s artistic passion was ignited when his father introduced him to photography. After relocating to New York from the Philippines in 2015, Filbert photographed top celebrities and advertising campaigns.
