A career shaped by South Florida property, investment analysis, digital media and a growing focus on wellness, development and community.
In Miami, real estate is rarely just about square footage. It is also about location, timing, relationships and how a property’s story travels from one market to another. Sebastian Acosta’s career brings those elements together through more than two decades in South Florida real estate, published work on investing and marketing, and an expanding platform that connects brokerage, development and digital media.
A Global Real Estate Advisor with ONE Sotheby’s International Realty, Acosta is now extending his work into luxury condominium development with AMX Developers in Miami and Playa del Carmen. His focus includes residences that bring wellness and spa services into everyday living, a direction he sees as an increasingly meaningful part of the residential experience.
For Acosta, these activities share a common foundation: bringing the right people together.
A career that began with developers
Acosta began his career working with developers in financial analysis, marketing and sales. That experience introduced him to the decisions behind a project long before a residence reaches the market: evaluating an opportunity, understanding its financial structure, defining its audience and translating a development vision into a sales strategy.
After obtaining his Florida real estate license in 2004, he continued building his career across South Florida’s residential market. His work spans communities including Brickell, Downtown Miami, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, Miami Beach, Edgewater and Key Biscayne.
Each neighborhood requires a different understanding of how people live and what they value. A waterfront condominium, an urban investment property and a family home may involve very different priorities. Acosta’s background in finance and developer sales informs how he approaches those distinctions.
An international affiliation that helped shape his business
Acosta considers his affiliation with ONE Sotheby’s International Realty fundamental to his real estate success. The combination of local market experience and the broader Sotheby’s International Realty network has helped him position properties before an international audience and build relationships beyond South Florida.
In Miami, that international reach has practical value. Clients frequently compare opportunities across countries, coordinate purchases from a distance or navigate a relocation alongside an investment decision. A recognizable brand, professional presentation and access to trusted colleagues can help support that process.
Acosta’s studies in finance, government and international relations at Universidad Externado de Colombia provide additional context for a career shaped by cross-border relationships and investment considerations.
Understanding the full property cycle
Investing has also influenced Acosta’s professional perspective. His 2008 book, Make Millions with Foreclosures and Short Sales, addressed opportunities associated with distressed properties and market disruption.
The subject reflected the conditions of that period, but the underlying discipline remains relevant: understanding a property’s financial circumstances, transaction structure and market position before making a decision.
That perspective now carries into his development interests. A successful project requires more than an appealing design. Financial planning, architecture, construction, marketing and sales must work together, with each discipline contributing to the final result.
Recognizing the power of digital storytelling
In 2017, Acosta published The Million Dollar Listing Social Media: The Ultimate Social Media Marketing Guide for Real Estate Professionals. The book examined how platforms including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter could support a real estate business.
It reflected an early commitment to a shift that has since become central to the industry: buyers often encounter a property, neighborhood or advisor online before initiating a conversation.
For luxury real estate, the quality of that introduction matters. Photography, video, written storytelling and distribution help communicate a property’s character and connect it with a relevant audience. Their effectiveness depends on the market knowledge and strategy behind them.
Building a platform through Brickell News
Acosta is also the owner and editor of Brickell.news, including its Instagram channel. He views it as one of the area’s most powerful digital media platforms and an important part of his connection to the neighborhood.
Its role extends beyond property marketing. Development proposals, neighborhood changes, environmental concerns and local issues give residents reasons to engage with the place they call home.
For Acosta, publishing and real estate draw on the same essential skill: understanding what matters to an audience and communicating it clearly. His long-standing connection to Brickell gives that work a personal dimension.
A new focus on wellness and residential development
Acosta is now developing luxury condominiums with AMX Developers in Miami and Playa del Carmen, with a focus on wellness amenities and spa services.
The direction brings together several parts of his career: the financial analysis of his early developer work, his experience presenting and selling residences, and his interest in how people want to live.
Wellness, in this context, becomes part of the residential concept, shaping spaces for relaxation, movement and daily routines alongside the architecture and interiors.
Acosta describes this work as an expanding chapter, with more to come as projects and partnerships progress.
The right teams, working together
Acosta points to the people around him as the connection between his different activities. His approach depends on having the right teams in place and ensuring they work toward a shared goal.
He likens the different parts of the business to the wheels of the same car: each has its own function, but progress depends on their alignment. Brokerage, development, media and marketing contribute to a larger platform that he says is growing every day.
The emphasis is on coordination. Financial specialists, designers, development partners, sales professionals, AI specialists, video makers and media teams bring different expertise, and the quality of their collaboration influences what the platform can accomplish. Acosta sees AI specialists and video makers as key contributors to growth, helping his teams develop compelling visual stories, improve digital communication and reach broader audiences.
Performance grounded in transactions
Alongside these broader interests, brokerage remains central to Acosta’s work.
Based on 2025 sales data, his RealTrends Verified profile lists 57.4 transaction sides, ranking him No. 2 in Miami by transaction sides and No. 21 by sales volume for that reporting period.
Those results provide a measurable view of his activity within the Miami market. Client testimonials on his ONE Sotheby’s International Realty profile also describe experiences involving communication, pricing, negotiation and the coordination of purchases and sales.
Community growth and environmental responsibility
Acosta is placing increasing emphasis on community growth, environmental issues and helping Miami develop sustainably.
As the city evolves, questions about trees, green space, historic places and neighborhood character have become part of the conversation surrounding new construction. Through his community involvement and Brickell News platform, he seeks to encourage informed participation in those decisions.
His development interests and community focus bring him into that conversation from several perspectives. Growth creates opportunities, while also requiring attention to the qualities that make a neighborhood desirable over time.
Looking ahead

Acosta’s career now connects established brokerage work with digital publishing and a growing development role. His affiliation with ONE Sotheby’s International Realty remains a foundation of that business, while AMX Developers and Brickell News represent additional avenues for collaboration and growth.
The common thread is his belief in building strong teams and keeping them connected. From financial analysis to storytelling, and from individual transactions to residential development, each part contributes to a broader professional platform.
As that platform expands in Miami and Mexico’s Riviera Maya, Acosta’s focus is on the people, places and partnerships that can sustain it.
