Neil Mirchandani, the proprietor of LLL Event Furnishings & Rentals, shares a unique tale of how his company saw rapid growth. Young Neil began his career as a DJ at events when he was 15 years old. He worked in this field for a while before venturing into rentals, where he began with two couches. He started doing rentals as a side gig while DJing before deciding to devote more time to it. Neil’s firm has expanded from two couches to a multi-million dollar empire over the course of several years. He frequently emphasizes that his business does not operate on the basis of sales, especially when clients inquire as to why. I’m not in the sales business; I’m in the rentals business, and I’ve never sold anything, he said.
There are frequently life lessons to be learned along the line with every success story like Neil’s, and Mirchandani had his fair share. Neil discusses his early experiences prioritizing mentors, learning how to make measured leaps of faith, and soliciting counsel from his fiercest rivals. He reveals that when his two sofas began to bring in revenue, he used that income to enlarge his inventory, but he did not always buy the proper goods and lost money as a result. He had to develop strategic planning skills and learn what to buy.
As the company expanded, more people had to be hired to assist. He hired a lot more staff after beginning with just two. However, his company experienced considerable loss during the hiring process for around six months. This was due to the difficulty in hiring the best candidate and the lack of a large return on investment. Despite this, he continues to credit the efforts of several employees for his business’s success. There is no doubt that if you work for Neil, he has a significant impact on your expertise. He sets an example with his own work ethic by putting in a lot of hard work for the company. Neil reportedly arrives at the warehouse as early as 5 am on most days. The company now employs 38 people.
Being a visionary, Mirchandani later acquired a small business in 2017. He views this as one of his best moves to date because of the timing. It may be claimed that he went with his instincts because this decision wasn’t the best from a structural or economic standpoint.
