In 2022, Sofiia May began a journey that was not wanderlust but survival and new beginnings. Leaving behind her hometown of Sumy, Ukraine, amid a turbulent time, Sofiia found herself in the United States, navigating a new life far from everything she once knew. What started as a search for connection and belonging has transformed into a thriving women’s community, offering hope and support to Ukrainian immigrant women across the U.S.

“I always dreamed of traveling and experiencing different parts of the world,” Sofiia shares. “But my biggest test began when I left Ukraine, not for adventure but for a new life.” Like many displaced Ukrainian women, Sofiia faced the challenges of loneliness, depression, and the overwhelming desire to reconnect with those who understood her experience. This deep need for community inspired Sofiia to create a space where women like her could find solace, strength, and friendship.

The community has increased, and Sofiia is constantly moved by the messages of appreciation she receives from members. “Girls tell me that our meetings helped them feel alive again, brought them out of depression, and made them realize they’re not alone in their experiences,” she says.

Organizing tours and events is no small feat, and Sofiia has faced her share of challenges. From unexpected storms to canceled flights, each trip presents its hurdles. But Sofiia takes it all in stride, always finding solutions and ensuring every participant has an unforgettable experience.
