“My name is Junhao Zhang, a high school student who is keen on photography and Ming Dynasty history.” Junhao Zhang, a senior Two student from the High School attached to Renmin University of China, has been interested in photography since childhood. He likes to use his lens to capture life and the beauty of the world, and the fate of the Ming Tombs was born here.

On a family trip, he discovered the mysterious beauty of the Ming Tombs, but was surprised by their lack of popularity. In the interview, he shared his insight: “I came to the Ming Tombs with my parents and thought it would be crowded like the Forbidden City, but actually there are not many tourists.” He is deeply aware that the Ming Tombs are not only a witness to history but also a treasure of Chinese civilization, and this precious cultural heritage is not getting the popularity it deserves.

In order to promote the history and culture of the Ming Tombs, Junhao Zhang decided to launch a photography project to bring together local photography enthusiasts to create valuable images of the beauty and uniqueness of this area. He believes that photography is a powerful tool to spread culture, but also a kind of mission bearing. The erosion of time has made these historical sites fragile. Through the lens, these precious historical moments can be forever fixed so that more people can deeply appreciate the mystery and magnificence of the Ming Tombs.

As the initiator and planner of the “Beautiful Ming Dynasty” Ming Tombs photo card manual, he deeply felt that the Ming Tombs are not only a monument to witness history but also an important part of Chinese civilization. “What puzzles me is that the Ming Tombs, as the site of the tombs of the 13 dynasties of the Ming Dynasty in China, are the most intact imperial burial complex in the world, but they are not as well-known as the Taj Mahal and the pyramids.” He believes that part of the reason is the lack of publicity and promotion here, so he plans to use photography to recruit local photography enthusiasts to show the beauty of the Ming Tombs with lenses, and compile a book of online celebrities about the Ming Tombs, which is convenient for tourists at the same time, but also to promote the tourism cultural characteristics of the Ming Tombs area.

“But they are also facing the erosion of time. A detailed photography manual can guide more photography enthusiasts to capture these historical traces. “Through the photographer’s lens, people will deeply appreciate the mystery and magnificence of the Ming Tombs, experience its rich historical background and unique cultural atmosphere.” Junhao Zhang said.

This photography manual is not only a photo book but also an intuitive feeling of the profound Chinese culture. Junhao Zhang firmly believes that the handbook will provide a platform for photographers to communicate and display, and become a carrier for inheriting the history and culture of the Ming Tombs. The 17-year-old photographer hopes to capture the unique charm of the Ming Tombs through his own efforts, interpret the glorious history of the Ming Dynasty with images, and lead more young people into history and inherit the torch of culture.

The launch ceremony of the Ming Tombs Photo Punch Card Manual project was held in the Visitor Center of the Ming Tombs in Changping District, Beijing on January 20. The launch ceremony of the project was sponsored by the Photographers Association of Changping District and many other units, and was undertaken by Beijing Haoli Culture Co., LTD.

At the launch ceremony, Mr. Ma Ruiman, deputy mayor of the People’s Government of Ming Tombs Town; Mr. Yang Lianrong, chairman of Beijing Changping District Photographers Association, delivered a speech. Also participating in the launch ceremony were Chen Xinshuang, head of external publicity of the Ming Tombs Management Center; Ding Tuntun, head of the Tourist center in Shisanling Scenic Area of Beijing Changping Cultural Tourism Group; Director Xin Hua(Masterpicec work: Legendary Amazons、Happiness like the juice), and Dang Changzhan, head of Beijing haolihai Culture Co., LTD.

The handbook will be donated to the school library in the future, calling for more students to be infected, remember history, and realize cultural inheritance. At the same time, Junhao Zhang also plans to sell on Amazon to show the world the magnificent scenery of the Ming Tombs, so that more people can get close to the Ming Tombs. All proceeds from the sale of the manual will also be used for cultural dissemination in the Ming Tombs area.

This is the first time this event has been held. In the future, Junhao Zhang hopes these events will be continued, and more people will participate in them in more diverse ways to jointly publicize the Ming Tombs and promote cultural dissemination.

Early on, this young woman became increasingly aware of its glaring inequality. However, Laura never let this deter her from carving a path into an area well-renowned for its underrepresentation of women.

Now, owning a degree in business management and having successfully run two businesses in the real estate and luxury products sector, Laura sets her sights on a new, exhilarating venture. Beginning in 2023, she chose to buckle down and commit to her burgeoning pilot career, setting various ambitious goals for 2023 and 2024.

She has dedicated herself to improving her racing skills since that momentous decision, placing particular emphasis on enhancing her performance during prestigious championships. Participating fiercely in the Ultimate Cup Series championship in regional F3, Laura Villars charged ahead to secure a commendable fifth place in a competition of fourteen drivers in France. This achievement stood as a testament to her impressive skill and enduring determination, leading to the acquisition of her much-deserved racing license.

According to the FFSA, over 87% of Karting and F4 drivers are male, a fact reflective of how few women find a spot on this exciting stage. Committed to rectifying this gender disparity, Laura actively contributes towards making motorsports a more inclusive industry. Her ambition remains high, assuring her continued progress towards securing a coveted place in Formula 1 in the near future.

Laura is a hope in female motorsport, and she wants to show that even if she started racing late and not in the “right” way, she never did Karting before. She will pass the limit and prove that everything is possible in life when you have a dream. “When I have something in my mind, I always achieve it in my life.”

She is still very determined and will show it next year in the championship, but she will not reveal it now.

For many aspiring female drivers, the journey into the world of single-seater racing begins with Formula 4. What is a barndominium? 

The word “barndominium” was coined to describe what happens when a farmer converts an old barn into a liveable workspace.
