The Making of a Franchise: Article Two

From world championship skier to stuntman to actor to producer, Frank Beddor had faced many challenges in his life. But nothing had prepared him for the challenge he was about to face: One of the most daunting tasks of them all … writing a novel.

Like all writers, Beddor struggled. Especially at first. But, like all successful writers, he found his own unique way of facing the writing challenges and succeeding.

And he did it by doing what successful people do. He asked himself a simple question:

What have I done that’s similar?

And many answers came. Some of them we’ll encounter in the following. And we’ll also see why Frank Beddor wasn’t like many who have thought about writing a book. He was that rare person who finishes that book … successfully.

“The Work: Writing Book One”

The memories are still fresh. Both the pain and the pleasure. It’s right there. Real and vivid. Frank Beddor remembers writing “The Looking Glass Wars” like it happened last week.

“Some days you’re just pondering where a chapter might go, and then you sit down and go, ‘Okay, I’ve figured it out.’ And it just flows from there.'”

But he didn’t get there overnight. And he didn’t get there without a lot of pain, sweat, and tears. And the writing veered from being a positive to a negative experience.

“Some days it was my lover and some days it was my ghost.”

Still, the drive to write entered his life more with the seductive allure of a lover, than the supernatural pull of a ghost.

After releasing “There’s Something About Mary”, he was sitting on top of the world. A path clearly laid out for him. More movies, discovering more talent, a lot of lunch meetings at the Ivy or dinners at Spago. The producer’s life. The life of a few. The dream of many more.

But Beddor wanted something else. Something more. And then along came the idea. The kind of idea that comes along once, maybe twice in a lifetime. An idea too good to hand over to someone else.

“I started with a few ideas I had. Waiting for the one to show itself.”

And “The Looking Glass Wars” did just that. But it started small.

“I just had the kernel of the idea. And it was this: What if you didn’t go down the rabbit hole into Wonderland, but you came up the rabbit hole into our world. What was that like?”

But with that tiny kernel great things grew.

Frank Beddor owns several properties in the Hollywood Hills. But lives fairly modestly, with his two children, in one of the smaller ones. But one of its most attractive features is a patio effortlessly transitioning into grass which stretches down to an out-building where his assistant works.

On sunny mornings, he starts his day on the patio with a coffee and a copy of the LA Times. He still prefers the print edition.

He’s often joined in this morning ritual by deer, wandering down from higher elevations, or cutting across from Griffith Park. Small lizards can be seen skittering across the grass. And occasionally a bobcat makes his way onto the land.

It’s not surprising that here his mind can wander to Wonderland. This landscape encourages dreams of fantastic landscapes and limitless worlds.

But now he has a process. A way to create … to write. But, in the beginning, everything was new to him.

“I was obviously inexperienced in doing something on my own. And I didn’t want to talk about it in case it didn’t work out. So, I just did it in private. Worked on it, shared it with my girlfriend at the time. Didn’t tell my family about it. Because they would have thought I lost my mind. Especially after having a big hit movie.”

But he plunged in head first. And, quickly, he became lost in the writing process:

“I found myself thinking about thinking about the book a lot and trying to solve problems,” Beddor recalls. “I started writing some scenes and then I would write myself into a corner, and think:  This doesn’t make any sense. I don’t have a mechanism to move her from one place to the other. What would that be?”

But often even this process didn’t work.

“There was a lot of stopping and starting. I’d start something and I go back and I write some chapters and think they were pretty good. And months later I’d go back and I’d read them and they seemed horrible. And there is a lot of that going back and forth.”

And this continued for some time. Some nights, he’d have animated discussions with his girlfriend about the book over dinner. Other nights, the book would give him nightmares. He’d wake up in a cold sweat, wondering if it was all a waste of time. A waste of his energies.

In the midst of all this, he had an epiphany. Why not apply some of the tools he’d learned about developing projects as a producer to the process of creating this book? So, he hired the artist Doug Chiang

Beddor felt that Chiang, a highly respected conceptual artist – who’d worked on such films as “Terminator 2: Judgement Day”, “Forrest Gump”, “The Polar Express” and the “Star Wars” prequels – could help him visualize Wonderland.

First, he asked him to sketch the Card Soldiers.

“I was having a hard time imagining how they would be flat and unfold and what they would look like,” says Beddor, remembering the struggle. “And he broke that logic by saying they’re just going to flatten up. And then unfold on the pieces. And when I saw the image, I went, okay, it doesn’t matter. I don’t have to describe exactly how it works. And that idea set me free.

This new freedom excited him. He hired more artists. And this collaboration with artists forced him to look deeper at the world he was creating. The artist would ask him questions like: What does the Chessboard Desert look like? Or: What makes the sand black and white?

This process made the writing of the book feel more like making a movie. And approaching the book this way made him realize that even if the book didn’t work, he was still creating something of value.

“It will be the foundation for developing a movie or television show. I have created a template and some world creation for a screenwriter to take and do it as a movie,” notes Beddor. And this process also worked as a “psychological” trick. Something that helped Beddor move forward on the book. And not worry about whether or not it got published.

“It allowed me to write a good book. Because I wasn’t worried about it being a good book.”

Plus, movies were rooted in who he was.

“My first language was cinema. I never wavered from that.”

But the writing process changed him. It even changed his daily routine. Because before he started writing the book, his life was very different.

“I was taking lunch meetings or doing dinner meetings. Things that you do as a producer to cultivate relationships. As soon as I started working on the book, and I was writing pages, I stopped doing that. I stopped taking lunch and stopped taking dinner meetings. I would just work on the book.”

Frank Beddor was becoming a writer.

“I started to enjoy the process of creating the book more than the producing side, and I felt like I was supposed to capitalize and I wasn’t doing the best job capitalizing.”

But the proof really came in the writing. Something happened when he hit Chapter Ten. He knew this was it. He was in it for the long haul.

“That was the defining moment for me,” recalls Beddor. “It’s just this need you have. I needed to finish the book. I don’t have a choice. I’m going to finish it.”

That was the moment when it became real. When the stakes got raised.

“Because you’ve said it, even if you’ve only said it to yourself … ‘I’m doing this.'”

That’s how it all began. At a moment of triumph, a new path was blazed. A path as uncertain as any Frank Beddor had ever taken. But it would lead him to one of the most exciting periods of his life. Join us in future chapters, and become part of that journey.

But buckle-up. There will be turbulence.

Looking Glass Wars: The Making of a Franchise

No one sets out to make a multigenerational franchise. But as it approaches its twentieth anniversary, “The Looking Glass Wars” has become just that.

It has spawned best-selling books. Award winning graphic novels. Games. Music. And more.

People cosplay its characters. Tattoo their bodies with its images. And share their love of the franchise at conventions and on social media platforms across the globe.

And the founder of this feast, Frank Beddor, has no plans for stopping. He’s just revamped his website, launched a podcast, and has a new book series ready to go.

Sure, “The Looking Glass Wars” has yet to make the leap to the big or small screen. But the interest remains strong. And it’s only a matter of time before the right deal makes this long-time dream of fans a reality.

Still, questions remain:

How did all this happen? How did Frank Beddor, a man whose life story could make a thrilling Netflix series, bring this about?

How did this first time writer, who’d struggled in school, create a fantasy universe that would capture the imaginations of millions around the world, and inspire other creators to join him on this journey?

This series of articles will answer those questions and more.

So, sit back, relax, as we step back to the late 1990s, when a best-selling book series was the last thing on Frank Beddor’s mind:

Article I: All I Need is an Idea

Twenty five years ago, it was July 15th, 1998. “There’s something about Mary” would premiere in two hours.

But its producer Frank Beddor had some unfinished business.

For nearly three years, he’d been embroiled in a lawsuit over ownership of a video game. Tonight, he decided, he’d had enough.

“I gave them an ultimatum to either settle or we would see them in court,” recalls Beddor.

They responded quickly.

“They completely caved and made me an extraordinary offer too.”

They would not make the game. The rights would revert to him. And he would receive a huge payout.

“And then I went to the premiere in Westwood,” Beddor says with a chuckle.

The reaction to “Mary” could only be described as “extreme”.

“A couple laughed so hard they knocked heads and the woman got knocked out,” remembers Beddor.

After the movie, he stood under the arclights, taking it all in. It had been a hot summer day. But the evening had turned cool. And everything felt right.

“I turned to my friend Ed Decter, one of the original writers, who I’d told about the conclusion of the lawsuit, and said ‘This movie might make $200 million,'” recalls Beddor.

And then he added, realizing the enormity of the last twenty-four hours: “Today is a very good day.”

And it was a good day. A great one even. But little did Beddor know that night, another adventure, arguably the biggest one of his life loomed on the horizon.

This should surprise no one who knows Frank Beddor. He’s always been a man on the move.

He parlayed a career as a two-time world champion skier into stunt work in the movies which evolved into an acting career. He landed roles in cult classics like “Amazon Women on the Moon” and “Remote Control”, and even booked a guest spot on “LA Law” before turning his attention to producing.

The road to becoming a major Hollywood producer was a long one. But it all came together in 1998. Beddor’s year of “three big events” as he calls it. There was “Mary”, settling the lawsuit, and his independent feature “Wicked” that would turn Julia Stiles into a star, and would teach him some of the most valuable lessons he’d ever learn about the industry.

But as the year dawned all of this was far from certain.

“Mary” was still in production, the lawsuit remained unsettled, and Sundance loomed.

“The anticipation of getting into Sundance was really great. That was exciting news. I’ve been to Sundance since ’89, the year “Sex, Lies and Videotape” premiered,” recalls Beddor. “And this was going to be the first year I had a film there.”

He invited all his family and friends to attend.

“And organizing all that and having the premiere and making sure everybody had seats, it was really exciting. I had a lot of friends in Salt Lake City, so they all came,” continues Beddor.

The film went over well. Especially for its star Julia Stiles, who booked the movie “10 Things I Hate About You” before the festival ended. And who the press called “the darling of the festival”. But later screenings were a mixed bag.

“I went to this screening in Seattle that just rocked the place. I thought I had a hit movie,” remembers Beddor.

But a screening in Berlin went the other way.

“It was the deadest audience, and I thought I had a bomb.”

Yet, an industry screening in Santa Monica seemed to offer the final word on the picture.

“I had a big theater, four or five hundred people. And I brought in maybe one hundred and fifty for free. But all the executives sat at the back. And it just did not play well.”

For Beddor, all the excitement about “Wicked” ended that night.

“It was such a weird sensation to be walking out of the theater, and knowing that here’s all these people that could make a difference, that could buy the film, but it all fell flat.”

The screenings for “Mary” were the complete opposite.

“Universally, no matter where, what country, people just fell out of their seats.”

But “Mary” had a charmed life from the beginning.

“It was one of those scripts that feels like it’s a winner. I didn’t see how it couldn’t work.”

Production proved to be just as magical.

“From beginning to end it was an anomaly. The production was incredibly smooth. The Farrelly Brothers were so efficient with their days,” recalls Beddor. “I don’t remember ever working more than twelve hours.”

Before the production ended the studio executives took notice.

“Tom Rothman had just come from Fox Searchlight to run Fox, and he didn’t want to do a dumb, gross out comedy. But halfway through production, he saw the dailies. He rushed down to Miami to embrace everybody and put his stamp on it. It was quite amusing.”

The studio was so excited they even changed the release date.

“Originally, it was going to be released in Christmas of ’98, but we had our first test screenings in the Spring,” remembers Beddor. “The Scores were really, really strong.”

So, the studio chose to move it up to a July release.

“And the marketing people became insanely nervous. Because all of sudden, all the focus shifted to them.”

This was the nineties. And magazine promotion was key. But magazines had long lead times. So, “Mary” couldn’t get into any of the summer preview issues. That could be a problem.

“The studio knew that we had a relatively inexpensive movie in the can that was testing really well and it felt like the time was now,” continues Beddor. “And so they started the process of putting together a campaign. I remember hiring a photographer, who was a friend of mine, and getting that great shot of Cameron that became the poster.”

The movie opened July 15, 1998. But that first weekend, it wasn’t first at the box office, not second, or even third. It was fourth. But then it did something movies just don’t do today. There was almost no drop off in attendance week-to-week. And then it started growing. By September, after being in theaters for eight weeks, it rose to number one at the box office.

“There wasn’t hype. It was a movie that people discovered through word of mouth. And a movie that audiences were really excited to tell their friends about.”

It ended up as the fourth highest grossing movie of the year with a total take of $174 million domestic, and $369 million worldwide.

But why did this little “gross-out” comedy do so well?

“At the heart, was a truly romantic notion about being in love with your high school sweetheart,” Beddor remarks. “That’s the glue that held the whole thing together, and why people fell for it more than the other Farrelly Brothers movies. This was more than just a gross out for the sake of getting a laugh. This had heart. And these are the movies that translate into big hits.”

In the space of a few short months, Beddor had become one the hottest producers in town. He opened an office, with staff of five people under him, and had a big development slate of projects.

But Frank Beddor craves movement and excitement. And something about this felt stagnant.

“Being a producer is a very passive, managerial job. Once the film is up, and once you’re filming, the people who are having the most fun are the creatives, the actors and the directors. And I wanted to be on the side of things.”

Now was his chance.

“The movie afforded me a little buffer. The movie and the lawsuit. A little financial buffer to stick my toe in.”

It felt good. It felt right.

“As a producer, you’re just banging on doors, and I wanted to take a break and create something that was solely mine.”

And now … all he needed was an idea.

That’s how it all began, a set of unique circumstances that made a new dream possible.

But this is just the beginning of the story. Join us for the next nine parts, and see how Frank Beddor honed and developed the tiny kernel of an idea into books and graphic novels. And how he used innovative marketing to make “The Looking Glass Wars” universe of projects into the successes they have become.

You’ll also get a ringside seat for all the attempts to bring “The Looking Glass Wars”, in various forms, to screens big and small and to the Broadway stage. You’ll meet some of Frank Beddor’s talented collaborators. And you’ll learn some of his exciting plans for the future.

This series is for anyone who is interested in writing, comics, movies, television, theater, and marketing. Or for anyone who has always wondered how a franchise is made.

Dr. Alan Shih is Heading Overseas to Attend an International Medical Conference to Continue Providing Advanced Treatment Services to his Patients

Dr. Alan Shih, Founder of Head to Toe Healthcare, PLC in Tucson, Arizona, will be attending the 25th World congress of the International society for Medical Shockwave Treatment in Daegu, South Korea from July 21-23 to expand his knowledge on shockwave therapy, so he can better integrate the treatment into Head to Toe Healthcare, allowing for state-of-the-art treatment options for his patients.

The symposium will feature keynote lectures from doctors around the world who will speak about theoretical, experimental, clinical and multiple contributions in both advanced fundamental and applied knowledge of shockwave treatment.

Dr. Shih is attending the conference to learn more about the benefits of shockwave therapy and how he can use it more effectively at Head to Toe Healthcare, where he already offers the progressive treatment. He says the therapy has many potential uses as an alternative to surgery or traditional treatments.

According to Dr. Shih, traveling internationally to further expand his knowledge as a doctor is something that is uncommon for doctors in the United States. He says there are medical treatments around the world that aren’t truly used in the U.S., and some of those treatments have been in mainstream use for decades in places such as Europe & Asia. While lithotripsy is commonly performed in the states for the treatment of kidney stones, shockwave can be used to treat multiple leg and foot conditions, erectile dysfunction, and even Alzheimer’s disease.

This is Dr. Shih’s second time attending the conference, the first time he attended it really opened his eyes to new possibilities that shockwave therapy could have within the medical field. This includes the use of shockwave during open heart surgery to strengthen an active beating heart, an option that hasn’t been adapted in the states yet. It made him take a step back and think, “if it can be used directly on the heart, then what else could it be used for?  Americans like to think the United States is a step ahead of the rest of the world when it comes to both our technology and medical practices. This however, is not always true and does not mean we are the best at everything so we should not become stagnant in our search for knowledge.”

Throughout his career, Dr. Shih has found that alternatives to conventional treatments are uncommon in the United States. However, they are becoming more popular and accepted in recent years due to patients themselves becoming more aware of their options. Going to the conference to learn more about shockwave therapy will enable him to provide a more robust new age treatment plan for his patients. The shockwave therapy only takes about 15 minutes for each session and avoids the need for using anesthesia, a requirement for undergoing surgery.

Patients who choose shockwave therapy are able to continue walking immediately after treatment and can resume their normal daily activities. Dr. Shih says his patients have reported feeling immediate pain relief following treatment, and it is more cost effective than  surgery with no down time and without the risks of surgery.

“I’m always seeking to learn more and keep pushing the limits of what I know, so I can provide my patients with more options that are cost effective and don’t require surgery,” says Dr. Shih. “It’s super exciting to see all the things in the medical field that are becoming available, and how they are more accessible.”

As true experts in the field of hunting technology, we’ll break down everything you need to know about night vision scope and thermal scope to help you make an educated decision on the perfect optic for your next adventure.

Night Vision Scopes: Enhanced Vision for the Modern Hunter

Night vision scopes are a popular tool among hunters, enabling them to detect and track animals even in complete darkness. These devices work by amplifying the ambient light to produce better visibility. There are multiple generations of night vision technology, with the latest generation providing better image quality and longer detection ranges.

Pros of Night Vision Scopes

  • Availability of multiple generations, catering to different budgets and needs
  • Can be used in complete darkness or partial moonlight conditions
  • Compatible with most hunting scopes and rifle adapters

Cons of Night Vision Scopes

  • Cannot detect targets that are hidden by foliage or fog
  • Can struggle to maintain visibility in extremely low light conditions

Thermal Scopes: The Ultimate in Heat Signature Detection

Thermal scopes take your hunting game to the next level, allowing you to detect and track animals by their heat signatures, regardless of the ambient light. These innovative devices are an ideal investment for the serious hunter who values accuracy and wants to ensure every shot counts.

Pros of Thermal Scopes

  • Unaffected by fog, foliage, or low light conditions
  • Capability to detect targets at long distances
  • Works in complete darkness, offering 24/7 hunting capabilities

Cons of Thermal Scopes

  • Typically have a higher price range than night vision scopes
  • Animal dwellings, such as burrows or nests, may hinder heat signature detection

Choosing the Right Optic for Your Next Hunt

Deciding on the perfect optic comes down to your hunting needs and preferences. ATN Corp offers an extensive range of high-quality night vision and thermal imaging scopes, ranging from beginner-friendly options to cutting-edge devices for the most dedicated hunters.

As you can see, both night vision and thermal scopes have unique advantages and limitations. It’s essential to consider your hunting goals and the conditions in which you’ll operate while making your decision.

To make an informed decision when planning your hunting trip, it’s important to understand the practical uses of night vision and thermal scopes. If you’re going to be hunting in varying weather conditions and landscapes, a thermal scope can be a reliable choice as it won’t be affected by fog or foliage. However, if you plan on hunting under the moonlight and want to stay on a budget, a night vision scope could be the way to go. “Stem cell therapies have shown immense potential in enhancing the immune system, paving the way for groundbreaking advancements in regenerative medicine,” says Dr. Ernesto Romero, the visionary leader of the Immunotherapy Regenerative Medicine clinic in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Being the first to adopt immunotherapy treatments and stem cell therapy in Mexico, Dr. Romero sheds light on the transformative effects of stem cell treatments on the body’s natural defense mechanisms.

Immunotherapy Regenerative Medicine has been dedicated to exploring the potential of stem cells in treating autoimmune diseases and optimizing immune system function. Stem cell therapies have emerged as a cutting-edge solution, using the regenerative potential of these versatile cells to bolster the body’s defense against diseases and restore overall health.

The COFEPRIS-certified stem cell clinic has become the hope for many individuals seeking alternative and effective treatments. Offering personalized patient care under a team of esteemed and experienced regenerative experts, Dr. Romero, a respected figure in the field, has spearheaded advancements in stem cell and immunotherapy technologies for over two decades. His vision, combined with his team’s expertise, has led to remarkable outcomes and a growing demand for stem cell treatments.

Stem cell therapy: empowering the immune system

At the core of Immunotherapy Regenerative Medicine’s approach lies the recognition that a robust and harmonized immune system is vital for maintaining optimal health. Dr. Romero emphasizes that an insufficient immune system response occurs when cells fail to identify harmful cells, thereby compromising the body’s defense mechanisms and leading to the proliferation of malignant cells or the development of autoimmune conditions.

This situation leads to the importance of enhancing and improving one’s immune system by establishing good habits such as maintaining a balanced and nutritious diet rich, regular physical activity, prioritizing sufficient sleep, minimizing stress, etc. However, with the advancements in the medical field, regenerative medicine stands as a promising approach to revolutionize how the body enhances its immune system

Stem cell treatments have the potential to modulate and enhance the immune response, allowing the body to better defend itself against infections, diseases, and other disruptions to the delicate balance within our bodies.

Dr. Romero explains, “Stem cells possess unique properties that make them an ideal tool for immune system enhancement. It can stimulate and regulate the body’s immune response, promoting a more robust defense against pathogens and abnormal cells.”

Advancements in stem cell treatments for autoimmune diseases

Autoimmune diseases, a group of conditions characterized by an overactive immune response against the body’s own tissues, present a significant challenge in the field of medicine. However, stem cell therapies offer a promising avenue for addressing these complex disorders.

Immunotherapy Regenerative Medicine offers mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) therapy, a form of regenerative medicine that focuses on repairing damaged cells, tissues, and organs. They possess immunomodulatory properties, which can influence and modulate the behavior of immune cells. MSCs can suppress excessive immune responses, preventing immune system overactivation and reducing inflammation. This process helps prevent immune system overactivity, such as in autoimmune disorders.

Dr. Romero adds, “When tissues are repaired, the immune system can shift its focus from combating internal damage to its primary role of defending against external threats. This redirection of resources allows the immune system to optimize its responses and mount more effective defenses against pathogens and abnormalities.”

Stem cells possess immunomodulatory properties, meaning they can regulate the immune system’s response. In the case of autoimmune diseases, stem cell treatments can help rebalance the immune system, reducing inflammation and preventing further damage to the body.

Another advancement in treating autoimmune diseases is Paracrine signaling or the

fundamental process where stem cells communicate with nearby cells. Stem cells release various bioactive molecules, including cytokines, chemokines, growth factors, and exosomes.

These molecules act as agents that regulate the behavior of neighboring cells, including immune cells. They contribute to immunomodulation, thereby enhancing immune responses by modulating cell proliferation, differentiation, and migration. They can stimulate the production of immune cells, promote their activation, and optimize their functionality, resulting in a more robust and efficient immune system.

The future of regenerative medicine

As ongoing research about stem cell therapies continues, Dr. Romero’s Immunotherapy Regenerative Medicine clinic remains at the forefront, driving medical innovation that transforms lives. Their passion and expertise in high-level patient care and cutting-edge stem cell treatments, using only ethically sourced stem cells maintained under strict high-quality standards, position them as pioneers and leaders in regenerative medicine.

“I, together with our team of medical experts, tailor our treatments to individual patient’s specific immune profiles to maximize the effectiveness of our MSC therapies and make it beneficial to as many individuals as possible,” Dr. Romero concludes.

,The future holds immense promise for regenerative medicine as scientists and clinicians unlock the potential of stem cells. It establishes new hope for patients with previously incurable conditions and strengthens the body’s primary and first defense against abnormal cells – the immune system.

Robert H. Cohen MD Explains The Vampire Breast Lift

A new non-surgical procedure developed by Dr. Charles Runels and expanded upon by Dr. Robert H. Cohen is becoming a very popular minimally invasive cosmetic option.

It’s called the vampire breast lift (VBL), and it augments the breasts without surgery. Providers inject rich plasma (PRP) to improve skin texture and make your breasts appear fuller.

Side effects are minimal but may include bruising, swelling and tenderness and there’s no downtime. There are no known long term complications of the procedure in the literature nor in the experience of the Cellular Medicine Association. One great aspect of the vampire treatment, is that it is minimally invasive and not considered a controversial cosmetic treatment option

Understanding the Vampire Breast Lift (VBL)

The Vampire Breast Lift is a non-surgical breast enhancement procedure that leverages platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections to refine the appearance of the breasts. “The treatment can create incredible cleavage in 10 minutes,”says Dr. Robert H. Cohen (MD), a cosmetic surgeon who practices non-surgical cosmetic treatments in Beverly Hills.

Unlike traditional breast augmentation procedures, a VBL does not significantly increase cup size or completely eliminate sagging. Instead, it aims to smooth wrinkles, correct inverted nipples, reduce the visibility of stretch marks and scar tissue, and lift sagging skin, offering a natural breast enhancement alternative for those wary of the risks of breast implants and potential breast implant illness.

“Platelets spring into action when they are activated bringing about vital healing benefits to the body” Explains Dr Robert H. Cohen.

The Science Behind the Vampire Breast Lift

The VBL procedure involves drawing a sample of your blood from your veins and processing it with a special centrifuge that separates the plasma, the red blood cells, and the white blood cells (platelets).

To harness its potent growth-related benefits for augmented breasts, physicians first separate out a dose of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from the rest of the patient’s blood before administering it within localized areas around their chest.

Since this substance boasts an impressive lineage of containing naturally occurring growth factors that influence collagen growth, density, and its elasticity within cells, researchers are positive about its ability to catalyze positive regenerative responses among nearby tissues.

“It’s a great procedure for those that are not ready for breast implants or a lift but want to get back some of their youthfulness and perkiness,” Dr. Cohen shares.

Who Can Benefit from a Vampire Breast Lift?

Ideal candidates for this non-invasive breast enhancement include individuals seeking a safer alternative to traditional breast augmentation. However, it is not recommended for people with:

  • A history of breast cancer
  • Predisposition to breast cancer
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding

Risks and Side Effects

As with any cosmetic procedure, consulting with a plastic surgeon, cosmetic surgeon or dermatologist experienced using this procedure about risks and benefits is crucial, and some cosmetic treatments arent for everyone.

Recovery period:

  • Soreness for two or three days
  • Bruising (resolved within a week)

Longevity of Vampire Breast Lift Results

The results of a VBL can last up to two years for most patients. However, the duration may vary depending on individual factors.

When my patients require multiple procedures, I separate them out for two months because it takes two months for the full results to show,” Dr. Cohen says. Some patients may require annual maintenance treatments to prolong the effects.

What are alternatives to the vampire breast lift?

If you are considering a Vampire Breast Lift but want to explore other options for enhancing your breasts, there are some alternatives to the Vampire Breast Lift that may help you achieve your desired results without resorting to invasive surgery. These methods include:

  • Fat Transfer: A natural enhancement method that uses your own body fat to increase breast volume and improve shape. This procedure involves liposuction from a donor region of your body, such as the abdomen or thighs, and injecting it into the breasts.  The results look and feel very natural.
  • Caci Bust Treatment: A non-surgical treatment that uses microcurrent technology to stimulate and tone chest muscles, providing a subtle lift to the breasts. However, this lifting effect is minor and temporary, requiring multiple treatments for optimal results.
  • Thermage: A non-invasive cosmetic procedure using radio waves to tighten collagen layers in the skin, resulting in a subtle breast lift. Keep in mind that the results may not be as dramatic as those achieved with surgical breast lift.
  • Laser Treatment: Intense energy beams eliminate dead skin cells and enhance collagen production in the skin, improving skin elasticity in the breast area. Like other non-surgical methods, the lifting effect is usually minor and temporary, with multiple treatments needed for optimal results.

Before choosing an alternative method, you should consult with a qualified plastic surgeon or cosmetic surgeon who can guide you toward the best option based on your individual needs and desired outcomes.

The Bottom Line

The Vampire Breast Lift, with its promise of a less invasive approach to breast augmentation, is gaining popularity. While it’s essential to have realistic expectations and understand that the benefits are primarily superficial, the procedure can provide a boost of confidence for many patients. With Dr. Robert H. Cohen‘s expertise and commitment to patient safety, those interested in a VBL can be assured they are in capable hands. Dr Robert H.
