Akeem Mair on Appearing on ‘Iyanla’s Fix My Life’ and Taking Hold of Every Opportunity

Making it in the entertainment industry isn’t as easy as most people make it seem. But, for actors like Akeem Mair, every opportunity to get in front of audiences is an opportunity of a lifetime. And he chases after them relentlessly, just as he worked hard to appear on Iyanla’s Fix My Life and appeared before millions of viewers.

Appearing on the final episode of the Oprah Winfrey Network television series has become one of the actor’s most significant breaks by far. After sending over a video of his reaction to motivational speaker Iyanla’s healing journey with troubled NFL ex-star Terrell Owens, the clip would appear as one of the reaction videos in the show finale.

“Hi Iyanla, my name is Akeem Mair, and my favorite episode is the Terrell Owens episode. Because you taught him that all the penalties in his life are his responsibility, even though his parents are the root of his sorrow, he cannot blame his parents for his penalties. He has to own it and change it and set a different example for his kids.” Those words echoed through millions of screens worldwide in what Akeem shares are part of a defining moment in his climb to entertainment stardom.

Akeem Mair is a Pasadena, California-based actor who has appeared in many shorts and independent films, such as The Art of Compromise, Topiary, Gangster City, 417: Person with a Gun, Jolly Boy Friday, and All I Ever Wanted, to name a few. He has also played many minor roles on hit TV series like Agents of Shield and Motivate Me.

Mair first started showing an interest in acting at a young age while attending Linda Vista Elementary school. He performed in various school productions. “I fell in love with the excitement and reactions my on-stage talents had in people,” shares Akeem. “To be in any character I wanted to give me escape from my everyday life.”

After learning that Fix My Life’s television production team was planning something special for her finale episode, Akeem wanted to be a part of it. So he registered and contacted the show’s producers to express how much Iyanla’s words had impacted him. On March 22, 2021, Akeem received a contract and instructions from the show’s producers to record a fifteen-second clip to give a brief testimonial on the lesson that had left an impact on him most. Unfortunately, Mair ended up with a twenty-second recording, which the show went with anyway.

Akeem Mair’s recording made it on the show’s finale and was aired before millions of Americans. The actor openly expresses his gratitude for being given a chance to be a part of a show that immensely impacted him. Thank you so much, Bunim Murray Tv Productions, Iyanla and Oprah! I’m going to miss Fix My Life but thank you so much for changing my life!” shares Mair. The episode is now available for preview on YouTube.

Akeem has appeared in several principal and leading roles for productions like Warner Brothers and other independent films shot by some of the best directors and filmmakers in the indie scene. In addition, he continues to play roles in various Los Angeles-based films and works hard to climb his way up to the top of the Hollywood scene.

Rgb Returns with Colorful Summer Anthem ”Diamond Eyes”

Summer has officially begun, and welcoming it is rgb’s highly-anticipated single “Diamond Eyes.” Featuring the talented music artist Kid April, “Diamond Eyes” is a fantastic track to listen to and attach memories to under the blinding sun.

Before the release of his summer anthem, rgb was already no stranger to the music scene. A versatile young artist building a chart-topping discography, rgb is a playlist staple who first honed his craft as a child. Hailing from the Bay Area and Washington, DC, the talent cultivated an interest in auditory art by learning classical music through the piano.

He eventually transitioned into jazz in high school and other genres later on before cultivating a love for music production.

Although his debut was met with relative success, rgb found himself at a standstill. He knew there was a better sound out there, and he had to find it. So, he did. Retiring the alias “red green blue,” rgb spent the following years perfecting his craft and furthering his passion until he found his style.

The answer came from his childhood. Drawing from his experiences growing up and his unique exposure to both the East and West coasts of the United States allowed the young music artist to develop his signature sound.

Many artists over the years still represent the same town that they grew up in. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this, but it does present a bit of limitation. It is important for artists to expose themselves to new cultures and new cities. The world is a large place with endless inspiration to be found.

This realization moved him to commit himself to unending exploration and endless growth – choosing his travels and unique experiences as his muse for his return to the music industry and debut as rgb.

Carrying his distinctive signature of suave and serenity, rgb officially launched a career in the industry with his 2021 New Year single “Moon Cheese.” The song’s refined beats have jumped across platforms, holding over 50,000 views and counting on popular music streaming platforms.

Continuing to enhance his blend of R&B, Alternative Hip Hop, Electronic, and Indie Rock, among other genres, with each song, rgb subsequently released the must-listen tracks “2 Much,” “Party at the Top,” “Petite Mort,” “Ghibli (Free My Soul),” “Norwegian Fjords,” and “Crystal Pool.”

Last July 4, rgb elevated his style and greeted the dazzling fireworks with a single. “Diamond Eyes” is a gift for his growing fanbase and a brilliant tune to follow in this heat. Appearing on the track alongside rgb is the underrated talent from Austin, Texas, Kid April.

The feature artist’s proficiency in shaping high-quality electronic and R&B music launched an unprecedented partnership with the rising rgb. Investing their passion and talents into a single song has molded “Diamond Eyes” into a no-skip track and a multi-genre piece that’s sure to serenade listeners not only this summer but in the seasons beyond.

Welcome the summer season with “Diamond Eyes” featuring Kid April. Listen to rgb’s smooth discography and stay updated on his future releases on Spotify.

Lea Sweet Launches Debut Album Black Queen of Country Music

As a Grammy member, nine-time Music Award Winner, and 2019 NCEM Best Entertainer of the Year, there’s truly a reason why Lea Sweet is named the Black Queen of Country Music. In her upcoming CD Black Queen of Country Music, which includes songs and smooth remixes of Willie Nelson’s Crazy, Lea proudly creates a fusion of country and rock never heard of before in the music scene.

Throughout her career, the artist has captivated audiences with her sizzling performances, packed with other musicians, singers, and dancers. Already reaching significant milestones, Lea assures her fans and the rest of the entertainment industry that she’s just getting started.

“Black country singers have had a hard time getting noticed and earning money in the industry, especially if you are born and reared in San Francisco,” shared Lea Sweet. “But I wouldn’t be true to myself or my art if I did not write and produce this country album,” she added, referring to her upcoming debut album. Lea is one of the 15 black country singers in the music industry today, only six of which are females. With her debut album, she wants to pave the way for many more artists like herself to amplify their voices and claim their place.

Lea Sweet grew up in San Francisco. At the early age of nine, she already had a way with words, which she first expressed through poetry. Eventually, in her early 20s, Lea finally gave her words melodies. Since then, the artist has fallen in love with songwriting and has produced three albums in a recording studio.

Lea Sweet sets herself apart from the rest of the upcoming artists in the music industry because she has a unique way of tackling country and rock music. The artist makes the established genres her own. Because of her distinct style, the artist received Best New Country Artist, Best Jazz, Best Neo-Soul, and Best Album, and received a nomination for Entertainer of the Year by the American Academy Association of Music and the Bay Area Music Awards.

“When I submitted my CD to record companies in Los Angeles, they assumed because I was Black that my songs would consist of R&B or Hip Hop music and when they heard country music, they loved it, but they didn’t know what to do with me,” Lea Sweet shared. But she persevered until finally, she found listeners who saw past her color and heard her masterpieces. “I’m not going to let Nashville nor San Francisco keep me from singing and writing what I enjoy doing most—so I created the brand Black Queen of Country Music that has been sitting on my shelf for at least six years because nobody didn’t know what to do with me. I know what to do with me. I’m going to share my songs with the world.”

To earn money in the music industry, Lea Sweet has joined various musical productions, including Motown Legends, Legends of Soul, Pop, Rock & Soul, and Sweet Tina Tribute Casino Tours. She has performed in the best tributes for Tina Turner, Tammi Terrell, The Supremes, The Vandellas, and The Marvelettes. Furthermore, Lea has worked with renowned music artists, including Jimi Jamison, Loveboy Mike Reno, Troy Klonz, Jeff Silverman, Scott English, Armond Morales, and more.
