Social Media: The Place to Be

Since the advent of social media in the year 2004, the world has shifted its behaviors with a growing diversification of consumer tastes and preferences. Due to the rapid growth of social media users, companies are forced to change their previous strategies. Thus, sales and marketing teams have had to shift their focus from traditional means of doing things to more unconventional and creative methods that are more effective in social media. Globalizing the operations of a company optimizes its productivity and presence in the market. Social media provides an efficient and effective mode of communication between people from various global regions. The efficiency and effectiveness in the flow of information are instrumental in the manner in which leaders and managers run the affairs of their organizations (Ramanathan, Subramanian & Parrott, 2017). This global aspect of social media connectivity can be damaging to a business organization and its products. One negative customer review can result in the loss of a significant measure of market share. The more complaints are shared on the online platforms, the more the company’s brand suffers.

It is safe to say that no one can deny the importance of social media in our lives. In fact, post people are no longer just using social media; they are “addicted.” Social media isn’t just about surfing, making friends online, liking posts, and posting things privately. It is its own business, and it’s fair to postulate that social media marketing is not just giving all other forms of advertisements “hard competition” but has taken over as “the place to be” for all our marketing needs. Today, the majority of businesses are using social media for social selling. Some of you may not have heard the term social selling and may be wondering if this is a new trend. Social selling is no newbie. Continents such as Asia have been using social selling not only on a B2C but also on a B2B level to engage audiences and increase sales. Did you know that the concept behind social selling has been used by companies on a B2C and C2C level for years?

Small- and medium-sized businesses often ponder if it is necessary to have a social media presence and whether services such as paid advertisements and influencer marketing will ever provide a return on investment. Many times, the things that seem new in marketing aren’t new but rather development of previous elements of marketing—for example, spokespersons. Spokespersons can be someone famous hired to increase the company’s image or brand. What are some key roles of influencers? Aren’t influencers a modern variation of spokespersons who are hired to present a company’s product and services or improve the brand awareness.

Will social media be as effective as it is now in the next 20 to 30 years?

What medium of marketing will be on the hype by 2030 and beyond?

That is something that many marketers try to answer and predict. Marketers want to know if they are prepared for the changing demands of the digital world and how they can continue to deliver quality content to keep audiences engaged? Well, as a marketer, I try to stay on top of the trends and analyze the market. But no one can answer these questions accurately. Sure, social media goes hand in hand with technology. Without developments in the internet branch, social media would not have evolved at the pace that it has. During this pandemic, we have seen how powerful and relevant stable internet is for companies to operate during times or places where they are not able to offer face to face services. Many companies would not survive the pandemic if not for the internet and social media.

Since the relevance of technology will not diminish, social media will continue to play a vital role in the way businesses present their goods and services. As such it is inevitable that social media will remain the place to be.

I am excited to see the new developments. Are you?

Disrespectfully Drunk: The Next Minority-Owned Liquor Empire

Entrepreneurship has become many people’s source of escape from the corporate rat race. Now, aspiring entrepreneurs can add Disrespectfully Drunk LLC to the list of businesses to watch out for and learn from as the brand quickly climbs up the fashion, music, and retail world as the latest brand of liquor to grow a grassroots movement and become an entrepreneurial force to be reckoned with.

Started by budding entrepreneur Kenya Tripp, Disrespectfully Drunk is a fast-rising brand that’s taking the party and entertainment scene by storm. It has entered into various liquor stores and has been spotted in the hands of multiple influencers, including Jaquae, Maino, Mr. Commodore, Mr. Cheeks, Jack Thriller, Lynn Hobson, Roxanne Shante, Marc John J, Capone, Fred Da Godson, Vado, Sway In The Morning, Kidd Kidd, Mysonne, and Comedian Godfrey, to name a few. In addition, Disrespectfully Drunk has also turned into a mainstay in many hip-hop and R&B circles as the brand has received sponsorship spots from brands like Ciroc and Plus Vodka.

The whole idea for the brand started with a podcast of the same name. Kenya began with a vision to start a company that would reignite Black Wall Street and empower women and minorities by showing what could be done with the right mindset and drive to create something for themselves.

“My eyes have been opened as I see that we as a minority community struggle badly, having to ‘find a way,’” shares the business owner and Disrespectfully Drunk founder. “I want the brand to create job opportunities and entrepreneurial opportunities for business-minded individuals who may come on as franchise owners.”

True enough, the liquor company has now employed a total of twelve people in a short period and has empowered many other retailers and resellers across the tri-state area. Disrespectfully Drunk is now a brand that many people in New York and New Jersey have become either aware of or accustomed to at some level. Apart from penetrating influencers in the music space, the liquor brand has also become a presence in fashion. It got its first break after a partnership with Get Money Kicks, a top-tier sneaker trade show that has garnered a considerable following. The Disrespectfully Drunk brand also got some publicity in New York Fashion week, catching the attention of many influencers in the world of fashion and into the hands of the general consuming population of the tri-state area.

As a woman entrepreneur who’s also a member of the minority population, Kenya Tripp hopes to be an inspiration to people who have been told that they couldn’t amount to much. She is also a survivor of an abusive relationship and hopes to spark ambition in women who feel trapped by social toxicities. She hopes that her story will fuel those who feel stuck and show them that they can dream about bigger things and achieve them just as she has in the past.

Kenya dreams of the day that Disrespectfully Drunk will become a household name all across America and even worldwide. To learn more about the brand, visit Disrespectfully Drunk’s Instagram profile.

Maury Noun Successfully Launches MVision and Provides Jobs for Highly Skilled Women from Lebanon

To say that the pandemic came as a shock to a lot of people is an understatement. For many, it not only altered their way of life, but it also robbed countless people of loved ones, a source of livelihood, and peace of mind. Despite its debilitating effects on world economies, a lot of people fought hard to survive by being innovative and forward-thinking. One such person is Maury Noun, a New York native of Lebanese heritage who successfully developed a telemarketing agency in 2020 to provide jobs for numerous highly skilled Lebanese women who were badly affected by the medical crisis.

In less than a year, the New Jersey-based Lebanese-American company owner was able to significantly grow his business to more than 100 employees. With him at the helm of operations, MVision was able to generate millions of dollars for its A-list clients while giving much-needed jobs for numerous Lebanese women offshore. Maury Noun is especially proud of his overqualified employees as they have been working diligently over the past year. For one, his Lebanese employees speak English fluently and without a foreign accent. Clients are not able to detect that the agents they are talking to are based offshore. Their promotional video of their staff talking about the service they provide depicts how overqualified their talent pool is. You can view the video here.

Among his 100 employees, 95% are women. MVision’s move to employ mostly women is a groundbreaking feat for a country based in the Middle East, where countless women still struggle to achieve financial independence and stability. With Maury Noun’s help, they have found a place where their education and hard work are deeply appreciated and rewarded. Interestingly, his company is the telemarketing or customer service company of its size stemming from  Lebanon while targeting the U.S and Canadian market.

While Maury Noun was born and raised in New York City, the MVision headquarters is currently based in New Jersey. Noun was raised by his Lebanese Christian parents, who migrated to Brooklyn after the Lebanese Civil War ended. If anything, his parents taught him to make a positive impact on the lives of people in whatever he does. True enough, he is now making a lasting difference in the many lives that were greatly improved after being hired by MVision.

Maury Noun recognizes brilliance within people easily. He believes in the massive potential possessed by various educated Lebanese women and wants to be instrumental in giving them an opportunity to shine and explore many possibilities. His dedication to helping in improving their way of living is something that his employees value deeply. Seeing his dedication to being successful so that they, too, can be successful inspires his employees to work doubly hard so that they can add value to the company.

His long-term vision for MVision is to be able to provide jobs for more than 1,000 individuals in the next five years. He looks forward to working with more Fortune 500 companies and providing them with exceptional telemarketing and customer support services that will bring their companies to the next level. By actively studying trends in the industry and boldly marketing his company’s services, Maury Noun is confident that it is only a matter of time until various businesses realize there is a gem of a company working to elevate the standards of the call center industry.
