Not everyone who aspires to create a respectable name in the music industry is all about being famous. For many passionate artists like the rising rapper from New York City, Krissy, it is also about working hard enough in order to give their loved ones a comfortable and stress-free life. The 26-year-old music artist has seen firsthand how difficult life can get through the hustle her parents did just to put food on the table and a roof over their heads. Today, more than ever, she is determined to make her music matter so she can establish herself as a serious music artist in the highly competitive industry.
One of Krissy’s biggest motivations in life is her little boy. Like any other mother, she is willing to make a lot of sacrifices if it means being able to give her child the life she only dreamed of in the past. More than being able to just provide for his needs, she also wants to give him all the best that life has to offer.
“I’m motivated when the sun comes up because it’s a new day for me to learn, something new for me to start, something new for me to meet, new people for me to start a new business with. And for me to become a better person than I was yesterday. My son, my beautiful son, will forever be my motivation. I want him to have everything I’ve only dreamt of having. I want him to never have to worry about anything,” Krissy explained.
As an artist, Krissy uses her music to honestly express her perspective of the world and what is happening to it today. She writes about life in Brooklyn, The Bronx, and Queens and how her experience shaped her to become the strong and independent woman that she is today. Despite the dangers of being on the streets when she was young, she always loved the vibe, the mood, and the culture it imparted to her. After all, she is who she is today because she did not shield herself from what she could learn by understanding the lifestyle on the streets. Through it, she learned to be honest, outspoken, and assertive about her ideas and take on things.
“I don’t only just give off a whole vibe, but I give off the vibe that everybody in this world can connect to because we literally all go through things. We are fighting battles that we don’t speak about. We are struggling. We are hurt. Sometimes we feel like we don’t have anybody in our corner. Sometimes we feel like we’re powerless, and my music is my power. I don’t wanna be famous. I want to be wealthy and comfortable,” Krissy shared.
Just like many music artists before her, music became a refuge for her during many of her life’s biggest pains and challenges. Music became a source of comfort and an avenue for real self-expression. It allowed her to pour out her heart without fear of being judged, ridiculed, or rejected. What mattered to her the most was being able to speak her mind with sincerity. Today, she realizes more than ever that she has the potential to inspire other people by creating her songs. By sharing them, she can be their hope in a very dangerous and precarious season in their lives.
She may just be starting out, but Krissy has success in mind as early as now. She envisions herself becoming a notable rapper and eventually diversifying into businesses that would provide employment and give her the opportunity to give back to the community. She is also confident that her dancing and boutique will be instrumental in making her the next big thing in the music industry. At the rate she is going, it is only a matter of time before she conquers the music world.
