A Journey from Software Engineering to AI Innovation

Tianyang Chen’s passion for technology began early and deepened throughout his academic journey. In 2018, he graduated from the University of Arizona with a master’s degree in electrical and computer engineering, where he developed a growing interest in machine learning. From the outset, he viewed AI not only as a technological advancement but also as a tool that could potentially reshape industries, address real-world challenges, and support the expansion of human potential.

Turning Down Giants to Join a Mission-Driven Startup

Upon graduation, Tianyang Chen received offers from several major tech companies but decided to pursue a different path. He joined Unified Patents LLC, a startup focused on protecting innovation from abuse in the patent system. There, he worked on natural language processing (NLP) technologies designed to identify and combat patent trolls, also known as non-practicing entities (NPEs), that are known to exploit patent laws for litigation profits.

The experience at Unified Patents LLC was formative. It strengthened his understanding of NLP, deepened his appreciation for applied machine learning, and instilled in him a strong belief in mission-oriented innovation. It also became clear to him that impactful technology doesn’t always originate from large corporations. It often begins in startups with forward-thinking and purpose-driven visions.

Exploring Cloud-Scale AI and Rediscovering Purpose

In 2022, Tianyang Chen joined Microsoft’s Azure division to explore how large-scale cloud infrastructure could enable more efficient and smarter software systems. At Azure, he observed firsthand the potential of cloud platforms in supporting scalable AI services.

That same year, the release of ChatGPT sparked renewed inspiration. Fascinated by the rapid development of generative AI, Tianyang Chen immersed himself in research, participating in Kaggle competitions, publishing papers, and exploring AI applications in fields like finance, healthcare, and beyond. His work began to shape not only his career but also his understanding of how AI-powered solutions might influence a variety of industries.

Building Pixel Pack Inc: Turning Ideas into Reality with AI

With a refined sense of purpose and a deep belief in the democratizing potential of technology, Tianyang Chen co-founded Pixel Pack Inc, an AI startup that aims to reimagine how creativity meets production. As the Strategic Tech Lead Consultant, Tianyang Chen is the driving force behind the company’s core technology and long-term vision, overseeing the architecture of its AI systems and their integration with real-world manufacturing workflows.

Pixel Pack Inc’s mission is aspirational: to empower anyone, regardless of technical or design background, to turn a spark of inspiration into a tangible product. Under Tianyang Chen’s leadership, the team developed a natural language-driven platform where users can describe their ideas, such as “a minimalist mug with a floral line drawing,” and receive automatically generated design options powered by AI.

But Tianyang Chen didn’t stop at AI generation. Recognizing that creativity needs a clear path to execution, he led the development of Pixel Pack Inc’s end-to-end production and logistics integration. From design to manufacturing to delivery, the entire process is streamlined through the platform, helping reduce traditional barriers between imagination and market-ready products.

By combining his expertise in large language models with a practical understanding of product pipelines, Tianyang Chen has helped guide Pixel Pack Inc toward becoming a platform that may support creators and entrepreneurs. His vision is clear: to enable ideas to become products and to provide tools that may help dreamers become makers.

For Tianyang Chen, AI is more than just a career. It is a calling. As a child, he was inspired by Jack Ma’s vision of “making it easy to do business anywhere.” Today, with the growing accessibility of AI, he believes that dreams are increasingly within reach for many.
