If it was that easy, everyone with a great idea would be a millionaire,” she asserts. According to Mancilla, continuous investment in various channels and staying on top of trends are crucial. “You must stay on top of all trends and pay attention to what each platform is investing in if you want to stay on top,” she advises.

In an industry characterized by rapid change, Mancilla’s ability to anticipate and adapt is unparalleled. “Just like the stock market, you have to closely monitor every small nuance change on each platform,” she says. Her proactive approach extends to understanding the broader economic landscape and its implications for consumer behavior. “If new applications like Buy Now, Pay Later pop up, that means something for the economics of consumer behavior,” she notes.

Mancilla’s client selection process is meticulous. “It comes down to having an honest conversation with the client and having them give me full transparency into their marketing and sales goals,” she explains. Her dedication is unwavering, having not taken a day off in over 15 years. She advises marketing professionals to challenge experts, educate themselves, and constantly research. “Don’t fall into one-hit wonder trends. Seek to sustain success,” she recommends.

Ethics play a crucial role in Mancilla’s work. “I am essentially a puppet master telling people they need yet another t-shirt or $15k piece of jewelry when I know in fact…they do not,” she candidly admits. This awareness drives her to be selective about the clients she works with. “All challenging ethical dilemmas always end with me walking away from the client one way or another,” she asserts. Her commitment to sustainability is reflected in her choice of clients who align with her values.
