The path to innovative leadership is paved with the ability to harness creative ideas and notice just-right opportunities. Problems are not nuisances to be avoided but instead rich, stimulating opportunities to be embraced. Perhaps the surprising thing is that compassion is emerging as the new evolutionary force in business.
Leaders who tap into their empathic side and use it to connect with others will find new avenues and angles for problem-solving and guidance. In this article, Penney Peirce, an internationally respected clairvoyant-empath, visionary, and author, shares her insights about becoming an innovative leader.
What is Innovative Leadership?
Innovation is key to success in any field, especially today, and even more so in business. To stay ahead of the competition, it is important to develop new ideas by thinking deeper and differently than the norm. Innovative leaders can motivate, inspire, and guide their teams with a softer, more natural, personal style that elicits enthusiasm and co-creation.
“Innovative leadership is about connecting with what brings people true joy and not letting ego get in the way. It is about being authentic, allowing others to see who you really are, and respecting you for it—an attribute that’s becoming more valuable by the day. Helping others use their core interests and talents enables a team to function in a field of ‘self-entertainment,’ so motivation and performance improve tremendously, ” says Penney Peirce.
Innovative leaders are the people spearheading successful businesses across the globe, who are at the forefront of leadership. So how do they do it?
Creativity Fuels Innovation
The path to innovative leadership starts with creativity. Creativity is the ability to think “outside the box” and find solutions that are not obvious or conventional. Leaders must be able to take risks, brainstorm ideas, and trust their instincts to develop solutions that push innovation forward.
Intuition is the key to creative thinking. Just using logic and variations of what’s gone before doesn’t tap into what’s truly useful now. That’s the result of over-dependence on the analytical, rule-loving left brain. For intuition to blossom, it’s essential to tap into right-brain capabilities such as imagination, sensing, and “feeling into,” and expand the mind to make use of the collective consciousness. Intuition can access surprising trends and solutions. Ultimately, we must learn how to access this part of our perception if we want true progress through innovation.
Problems are Creative Opportunities
To become an innovative leader, it’s important to see problems as creative opportunities. To do this, identify your team or company’s current challenges and penetrate into what’s causing them instead of simply resisting and trying to overcome them. Every “problem” occurs at a point along a creation cycle, which Peirce describes as “Be-Do-Have-Be,” and contains useful information. If you can sense which part of the cycle is being activated, you can allow the problem to resolve naturally by helping it move to the next phase on its own—as part of the up and down flow of the sine wave that is life. Leaders can help this natural flow go where it needs to go. Reducing worry, resistance, and polarization allows issues to find resolution, like water seeking its own level!
Compassion is the New Evolutionary Force
Finally, compassion is becoming a critical evolutionary force in the business world. Leaders who can tap into their kind, empathic side and use it to connect with people and inspire them to work together to achieve common goals will have greater success than those who use too much willpower and force. A compassionate leader is also better equipped to think of creative solutions that benefit not only the bottom line but their team’s morale and their own well-being too.
Have you noticed how great ideas can come from unexpected sources? “To tap into this incredible potential, create an inspiring environment where everyone’s perspective is valued. Acknowledge and embrace the diverse perspectives of others—remembering to thank them for their contributions! When team members feel respected and appreciated, collaboration takes off with innovative solutions that transcend any single individual’s thinking,” says Peirce.
Innovative leadership requires intuition, creativity, problem-solving skills, and the ability to empathize with others. By taking these steps and embracing the path paved with opportunity and growth, leaders can become innovators in their field and create positive change within their organizations.
