A simple rule from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP) never goes out of style: Move more and sit less. There is no doubt that physical activity is important…but what about the concept of “Movement”?

We interviewed Movement master Roye Gold to learn more about this wildly interesting topic!

Roye began his movement journey with Ido Portal. During his military service, Roye was actually a professional swimmer, but after meeting Ido, he became more curious and passionate about Movement than his actual sport, and as you can see, he’s never looked back! Quite the contrary, his movement abilities are quite literally out of this world!

Roye Gold is a tale of a no-ordinary man, and rightfully so. In the world of movement, training to such disciplined and enviable standards whilst educating others is no easy task, but for Roye, Movement is his life. Needless to say, our conversation with the Master of Movement was no less than an inspiring and motivating experience. Here’s an excerpt:

‘Movement’ seems mysterious to an average person. How can you, a movement master, explain the idea of ‘Movement’ to us?

Roye Gold: It’s not an easy task to describe movement. It’s like describing life. Movement is on top of everything we do. Moving, not moving, breathing, meditating, playing sports, dancing, martial arts, etc. It’s a big universe that contains all kinds of planets. That is why the chase after movement is a never-ending journey. Movement is endless.

In your time as a student with Ido Portal, how long did you train? Has your movement development been aided by more coaches?

Roye Gold: I trained under Ido Portal for 10 years. My sister, Odelia, who continues to be Ido’s student to this day, was also my teacher, and a big part of the mover I am today.

Have you been teaching Movement for a long time? Why did you decide to take this step, and what do you love about it?

Roye Gold: I’ve been teaching movement for around 12 years now. I started teaching alongside my own daily practice. The initial vendetta was just to make some money after my military service. However, it didn’t take me long to realize it’s not just movement I’m passionate about, but also teaching and sharing my knowledge with others. This is when I decided to open my own Movement facility. Back in the day, I called it ‘Ido portal Israel’ – now it’s ‘Movement Israel.’ This school was the first movement school in the world and is still famous to this day.

Do you offer any training programs for those who are based in other parts of the world?

Roye Gold: Of course, I offer an online coaching program.

This program is very demanding and only for people that want to take their movement to the next level, or for people who want to start their movement journey.

So, you do take online students. Now, is there a specific eligibility criterion to be able to participate?

Roye Gold: You don’t need to be at a certain level to work with me; I accept all levels. You just need to be ready to practice on a daily basis. Not a lot of people want to accept those terms, and that is totally fine by me. But those who do, will change their life for good.

Do you have any advice for those just beginning their Movement journey?

Roye Gold: First, to start the journey, I suggest you find a teacher. A true Movement teacher. Good teachers are indeed very hard to find, but once you do, you must stick with them, be loyal, and let them teach you what they have to teach. It goes without saying, you will be paid in full at the end of the day.
