New York City is proud to be the home of one of the founding doctors that brought the life-changing LASIK laser eye procedure to the United States, Dr. Joseph Dello Russo.
As a pioneer in ophthalmology, Dr. Dello Russo treated millions throughout his career and was significantly adored and admired by his patients, with whom he sought to provide as much visual enrichment as possible. Dr. Joseph, a celebrated visionary physician, passed away in February 2022.
During his esteemed career, Dr. Joseph founded Dello Russo Laser Vision and the New Jersey Eye Center in 1967 – soon offering services in multiple locations across the New York metropolitan area. He was a trailblazer in innovative eye surgeries, including minimally invasive cataract surgeries, as well as procedures for corneal, glaucoma, retina, and eye muscle malfunctions. By the 1990s, Dr. Joseph’s two sons, Jeffrey and James, joined the Dello Russo medical team in conducting Dr. Joseph’s mission – providing the gift of sight to as many lives as possible.
Like his father, Dr. Jeffrey Dello Russo has been a part of LASIK advancements, having led a team of experts on a study surrounding a new dry eye treatment drop. Dr. Jeffrey’s accolades stretch further, however, whereas he also helped pioneer new LASIK surgical procedures and developed many of the current treatment protocols and standards for LASIK and PRK.
Dr. Jeffrey Dello Russo currently works beside his brother, Dr. James Dello Russo – a family optometrist and Managing Director at the New Jersey Eye Center in Bergenfield, NJ. Dr. James is bilingual and speaks both English and fluent Spanish, allowing him to better serve the needs of a greater population in the community.
Dello Russo Laser Vision continues to carry on Dr. Joseph’s legacy today, operating as a dedicated and reliable LASIK center with locations in New Jersey, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Long Island. Visit www.dellorusso.com for more information, and schedule your appointment today.
