Sitdekov Tagir Alievich: Education
Tagir Sitdekov studied economics at REA, defending his dissertation in 2001. In 2012, he also earned an EMBA degree from a successful international business school.
Sitdekov Tagir: Career
Sitdekov Tagir Alievich began his career at the audit giant PwC. As a consultant, he was responsible for working with the mining and energy industries. From 2001 to 2003, Tagir Sitdekov specialized in consulting at a subsidiary of the Austrian bank Creditanstalt. He then headed the finance department of the Sochi Thermal Power Plant. During Sitdekov Tagir’s tenure, the power plant was launched and connected to the power grid. Before that, there were no generating enterprises in the resort city.
In 2005, he left the company and went on to hold leadership positions in other organizations.
The Tagir Sitdekov biography was already associated with investment business, and in 2021, he received an invitation to join AFK Sistema as the managing partner. Tagir Sitdekov’s responsibilities included AFK’s healthcare-pharmaceutical and biotechnology assets.
At AFK Sistema, Tagir Sitdekov oversees the oldest private clinic network in the country, which already had more than fifty branches when he joined corporation. In the spring of 2020, it was the first private domestic healthcare institution to convert one of its branches into a COVID-19 hospital.
The corporation’s pharmaceutical sector was represented by several plants, which were united into a single group in 2020. Sistema also established a biotech laboratory that became a domestic leader in the production of COVID-19 tests during the pandemic.
Tagir Sitdekov oversaw the Sistema clinical network’s acquisition of several regional medical organizations in the first half of 2022, and the company also opened its own network of laboratories. As promised by Tagir Sitdekov, AFK Sistema plans to actively implement progressive know-how in the operation of its medical institutions.
Tagir Sitdekov also oversaw the opening of several offices for the corporation’s pharmaceutical company in the former USSR countries at the turn of 2021-2022. In addition, the Group signed an agreement with an Indian drug manufacturer for the rights to produce two antibiotic drugs. And in 2021, Sistema’s biotech laboratory developed a system for at-home COVID-19 testing.
Tagir Sitdekov: AFK Sistema President
Sitdekov Tagir Alievich was appointed the president of the corporation in the summer of 2022. One of his tasks in this high position is the implementation of the ESG concept in the work of the various Sistema assets.
For example, the Sistema portfolio includes one of the country’s largest agroholdings. In the late 2010s, it became a leader in the digitization of domestic agriculture, and the new head of the corporation continues to develop this important aspect. This year, at the initiative of the top executive, the holding approved a sustainable development program calling for the reduction of water and energy consumption, a transition to renewable generating capacities, and agricultural production climate optimization. Thus, the agricultural company is implementing new land treatment technologies that reduce the negative impact on the soil and practicing forest restoration. The holding recently ran a tree planting project in the Rostov Region.
Tagir Sitdekov also initiated the further development of Sistema’s forest processing assets. The corporation’s timber company is involved in decarbonization, preserving biodiversity, and restoring vegetation on leased lands. In 2021-2022, the enterprise planted 105,000 hectares of forest.
The company was also the first in the country to launch the production of CLT panels – a lightweight and durable material for building construction, made in the Vologda Region. A residential complex has already been built using this technology.
The Tagir Sitdekov biography was already associated with the development of the corporation’s medical assets, and after he took over AFK, the number of Sistema clinics grew to more than 130. This year, the network expanded with new branches in the capital region and St. Petersburg. Additionally, a contract was signed for the construction of a medical center in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
The pharmaceutical group in AFK’s portfolio now includes five factories with a total area of 704,000 square meters and more than 3,000 employees. It has the right to produce more than 450 drugs. The enterprise is currently undergoing a large-scale modernization that will be completed in 2024.
The corporation’s biotech laboratory has also proven successful. In early 2023, a test system capable of detecting seven types of viruses was presented, and researchers are working on the import substitution of technology for producing cancer treatment drugs.
The Sistema president has also signed agreements with various universities to co-train experts in the field of hydrogen generation. This promising type of energy is one of Sistema’s newest endeavors.
Tagir Sitdekov: Corporate charity
At AFK Sistema, Tagir Sitdekov supports the work of the corporate charitable foundation. Eleven years ago, it created an educational online platform that is used by hundreds of thousands of people. The foundation regularly awards scholarships to young and active users of this service and has also established a competition where the best school career centers receive grants for the development of their particular projects.
