The International Women’s Conference, founded by Dr. Neva Alexander in 2017, will return to Hofstra University in Long Island on Saturday, March 8, 2025. What began as a small gathering with a big vision has grown into a global platform for women to connect, learn, and empower one another. Each year, the conference draws participants from diverse backgrounds, united by a shared desire to break barriers, embrace opportunities, and redefine success.
Dr. Neva’s vision for the conference is rooted in her belief that empowerment is a collective experience. “The International Women’s Conference is more than an event; it’s a movement. It’s about creating a space where women can connect, learn, and leave inspired to reach new heights in their lives and careers,” she says. The impact of this mission is evident in the countless success stories shared by attendees over the years, from women negotiating career advancements to forming lifelong collaborations and mentorships.
This year’s conference promises an extraordinary experience, featuring keynote speakers who are leaders in their fields. Dr. Susan Posner, President of Hofstra University, will share her insights on education, leadership, and inclusion. Joining her is Dr. Pearl McMillian, Chief Medical Officer of the Government of the Bahamas Ministry of Health and Wellness. She brings a wealth of expertise in global healthcare and women’s wellness. Dr. Neva will contribute her signature blend of inspiration and strategy, drawing from her international experiences, including speaking engagements at the United Nations and the International Summit Youth to Youth in Dubai. Special guest Monica Morales, a dynamic reporter from Pix11, will serve as the event’s Master of Ceremonies, adding her unique energy to the day.
Attendees can look forward to panels addressing critical topics such as healthcare innovations, women in business, and student wellness. These discussions are designed to inform and spark meaningful conversations and actionable ideas. This year’s conference theme, “In the Pursuit of Happiness and Health,” emphasizes the interconnectedness of personal well-being and professional success and the importance of addressing both to achieve a balanced and fulfilling life.
Networking and mentorship remain at the heart of the conference, offering participants opportunities to build relationships far beyond the event. Many attendees have walked away with transformative connections, such as finding mentors, collaborators, or simply kindred spirits who understand their journeys. Dr. Neva has often shared the story of an executive who, after attending the conference, felt empowered to advocate for herself in a significant professional decision, resulting in a career-defining moment. These experiences fuel Dr. Neva’s passion for continuing this work.
Long Island serves as a fitting home for this global event. Despite her extensive travels, Dr. Neva chose to root the conference in New York, particularly in Long Island, because of its unique energy and untapped potential. “Long Island offers the perfect balance of community and diversity. I saw a need to unite people, celebrate their differences, and empower women from all backgrounds. This is where the magic happens,” she explains. The conference fosters empowerment and contributes to the local economy by drawing participants from across the country and beyond.
The International Women’s Conference owes much of its success to the support of its sponsors and media partners. Hofstra University, Clear Bridge, Laura Parker of Trade Show Solutions Center, and the Long Island African American Chamber of Commerce have been instrumental in bringing this vision to life. Media partners Pix11 and Street Hype Newspaper further amplify its reach, ensuring the stories and lessons shared at the conference resonate widely.
As the conference approaches, Dr. Neva is focused on creating an experience that inspires action. “Empowerment starts with showing up,” she says. When women come together, magic happens. Let’s make that magic a reality.” The International Women’s Conference is the perfect place to start for those seeking growth, connection, or simply an opportunity to recharge.
