Gerian Taylor, known to many as BIGG GINN, is more than just an artist—he’s a walking testimony of transformation, talent, and tenacity. Hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, specifically the West Boulevard area, BIGG GINN’s story is rooted in raw experience, life-altering moments, and an unwavering pursuit of purpose through music.
Growing up in a single-parent household, BIGG GINN was raised by his mother, surrounded by five siblings. Life in Charlotte’s inner city wasn’t easy. Like many young Black men raised in similar neighborhoods across America, he faced the complex realities of community, crime, and survival. His father was present, but it was the streets that raised him, educated him, and in many ways, tried to define him. But BIGG GINN had other plans.
Tragedy struck early when one of his brothers was killed by the police. At just 13 years old, that trauma carved a permanent scar in his heart. Instead of succumbing to anger or resentment, BIGG GINN used it as fuel. “That changed everything for me,” he says. “I knew I had to go harder—not just for myself but for everyone who couldn’t make it out.”
Despite numerous setbacks, including a fight for his life in 2015 when he was facing double homicide charges, BIGG GINN emerged stronger. “Look at me now,” he beams, “I’m living my dreams.” That resilience, that bounce-back spirit, is what sets BIGG GINN apart—not just in his music, but in his everyday life.
A father of five—four boys and one girl—he’s found peace in his role as a provider and protector. Outside of the studio, BIGG GINN enjoys the simple pleasures that many overlook: fishing, traveling, painting, and being outdoors. “I’ve learned to appreciate life in every moment,” he shares. “Especially after all I’ve been through.”
Musically, BIGG GINN is a powerhouse. What makes him stand out in an oversaturated industry is his ability to record, engineer, and produce his own music. “I get way more done than most artists because I know how to do it all,” he says proudly. His self-sufficiency and versatility are unmatched. He can rap about anything—in any style—making him one of the most adaptable and innovative voices coming out of Charlotte today.
He’s not boxed in by genre or sound. Whether it’s trap, soul, storytelling, or hype music—BIGG GINN can do it all. But if you ask him about his dream audience, he admits, “I’d love to connect more with the ladies. I make all kinds of music, but I know I’ve got something special that women will vibe with. I just want to tap in deeper with that audience.”
BIGG GINN’s mission is simple: show the world there’s more to life than violence, drugs, and the streets. He uses his music to reflect reality while inspiring his listeners to dream bigger. Every verse, every beat, and every hook is crafted with authenticity and heart.
He’s not just here to entertain, he’s here to leave a legacy.
