Jack Broadnax: Model Turned Entrepreneur

Jack Broadnax is an American entrepreneur and jewelry designer who founded Her Children. Her Children is a jewelry brand that offers affordable alternatives to expensive designer brands. The jewelry that Her Children’s makes is created with the same materials and same  quality as brands like Cartier or Tiffany & Co. Jack has always had a passion for jewelry and he set out to build a brand that is locally made, affordable and high quality enough to be passed down for generations.

Getting Started

Before he got into jewelry design and started his entrepreneurial journey, Jack was a model and moved to New York City when he was 18 to sign with top modeling agency, Wilhelmina. The COVID-19 pandemic hit Broadnax was no longer able to model fulltime and started working to establish Her Children. Over the winter of 2020 and 2021, Jack would go to the diamond district to meet new people, make new connections with wholesalers and build a name for himself. Broadnax opened a shared pop-up store in the heart of Soho on the corner of Prince St. and Greene St. over the summer where he sold jewelry and the other store operators sold clothes. Jack makes unisex jewelry now, but he started out with men’s jewelry because he noticed that men really only have big brands available that sell their products at a premium. After his success with the pop-up store, Jack was ready to take things to the next level and opened Her Children’s flagship store in Connecticut in September, 2021.

Hand-Made & High Quality

Her Children ‘s jewelry is hand-made to order using high quality metals and conflict-free gems sourced from a reputable dealer. Jack is very hands-on with every step in the process and he is a firm believer in getting things done himself. Every piece that Her Children lists is locally made and priced to be affordable without compromising quality. Big designer brands have always made their jewelry for a tiny fraction of the price tag, and the lack of affordable quality men’s jewelry created a demand that Jack has capitalized on. The level of attention to detail and care that goes into every piece can’t be matched by mass produced competitors. Her Children even offers clients a full consultative service experience for custom orders.

Future Plans

Jack’s flagship store in Connecticut has done very well but he doesn’t plan on stopping there. Broadnax loves interacting with the community and is already planning a pop-up store on Mulberry Street in Soho for the summer. Jack will be hosting events and parties at the new store to build relationships with clients and the local community. Over time, Broadnax wants to continue expanding Her Children and his primary focus will be maintaining the high standard for quality.
