While most women entrepreneurs are historically known for running fashion houses or cosmetic companies, in more recent decades, many have been paving the path for others and leaving their marks in other industries, such as media and entertainment.
The entrepreneurial journey is never an easy road and often comes with its share of challenges. However, when we talk about women entrepreneurs, the word “entrepreneurs” preceded by “women” conveys a lot. This is because women tend to take on more responsibilities while embracing diversity and inclusion.
Last week, we sat down with music executive and businesswoman Esmeralda Baez, who gave us a breakdown of how she works in marketing and the costs, as well as working with new talent and more.
Baez explained that her mission is always to establish and build an organic fanbase by creating content focusing on that artist or brand’s specific journey. “If we’re building your brand from the ground, we have to be super creative and strategic. I always encourage clients to attend important events and to capture content around to be shared,” she said.

How much does your company usually charge for PR?
PR is only one aspect of publicity, so the pricing varies depending on the project. Also, not every artist we work with is on the same level or status. So there are different brackets for different artists. But regardless of the price, they’re basically paying for our experience and the connections we have.
Do you still work with independent artists or just with those signed to major record labels?
I have worked with both. If we believe in the project, we’ll definitely work with you. I think it is important to support raw talent and not just who’s hot at the moment. Reality is, the only difference between an independent and signed artist is the budget behind it, not necessarily talent.
How does it feel to be called a top PR agent and influential woman in media?
I feel honored and blessed to be recognized amongst the ranks of some of the most successful women that make daily magic in the music space. I am forever thankful and appreciative to those platforms for bringing our behind-the-scenes work to the front screen and for spotlighting creatives and visionaries like myself.
What is your definition of business success?
Succeeding in business is all about partnerships and making the right connections while building solid relationships. Learning how to speak in public is a fundamental requirement for success. Knowing how to persuade an audience on “why” to buy your product or service is equivalent to income. And networking… networking is an essential part of building wealth regardless of the type of business.
