US Coast Guard Veteran Turned Actor Noel Mirabal on Changing Careers and What Truly Matters

For someone whose acting career came as a surprise, Noel Mirabal is genuinely one of the most promising actors of his generation. Noel was formerly serving the United States Coast Guard actively up until the end of his enlistment in 2014, which then transitioned him into a petty officer. Taking time away from his patriotic duties, Noel stumbled upon a casting opportunity in Atlanta. Little did he know that the resume, amateur headshot, and audition would change his life.

When Noel Mirabal learned of the opportunity, he drove to Atlanta right away. The actor had no clear blueprint on how to get things done then. He slept in his car, showered at old gyms, and carried nothing but a burning desire to try his luck in the entertainment industry.

Noel Mirabal had previously starred in various television shows in Atlanta, but he had never taken acting as seriously as he did when he was on his way to audition. Since then, Noel has grown as a professional actor from learning through his projects. He has played lead and supporting lead roles in many successful television and films, such as Purple Gang, a film detailing the life of an immigrant family as they try to build wealth and power in America. Noel also played the role of Jerry in All the Lord’s Men by Andrew Burton.

“I had never ever in my life thought about acting,” shared Noel Mirabal. “I mean, I love watching movies, yet I never thought about trying to be in them. Either way, after I had started acting, I fell in love with it, and I am the type of person that likes to do things the right way or to the best of my abilities. So I ended up going back to college, Miami Dade College to be exact, and I studied Drama,” he added. After graduation, Noel dove right into the entertainment industry and hasn’t slowed down ever since.

Besides his flourishing acting career, Noel Mirabal is also a volunteer at the Homestead Center for the Arts. As of May 4, 2021, he has been inducted into Marquis Who’s Who, a recognition given to prolific individuals on the basis of their position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in the community.

Asked what and who motivated him the most, Noel Mirabal shared that the work ethic and drive he saw from his grandfather inspires him to be as passionate about life. He also dedicates his work to his beautiful wife and children. Noel spends as much time as he can with his family as he considers them his most valuable treasures. He further shared that it’s all about finding the right balance, and when people matter, regardless of his busy acting schedule, he will always be able to find time for what fuels him every day.

“It’s not a competition if you only compete with yourself,” said Noel Mirabal. “For me, it’s a personal journey of growth. I like to challenge myself every day because I want to be better than I was the day before and the day after. Everyone has their own interpretation of success, and I have already found my success being happy and healthy with my family. I believe being happy and healthy is a win on its own.”
