For anyone passionate about music as an artist, their life is driven by the need to produce music that moves the soul. As a DJ, this ability to create music that moves the crowd, drives creativity. First and foremost, the DJ has to feel the music resonating with it to deliver a great experience to the audience. If the music uplifts a DJ’s soul, giving them a boost of energy, it will surely flow through them and energize and galvanize the crowd. DJs are active mediums, taking the music and forging it into a potent and eclectic mix and finally getting the crowd to move to the music.
Beats that are block-rocking and bombastic are not just born as an accident; it takes a lot of skill, and experience, which entails the ability to read the crowd, as in what calls their attention. When a DJ gets to a certain point in their career, they can correctly predict what music will work for the venue and instantaneously read the crowd’s reaction, like whether they are pulling back or grooving to the music. This lightning-quick reaction of accurately understanding the situation isn’t easy to come by.
But sometimes, there comes along a young prodigy that bypasses the requirement of spending extended amounts of time to master the craft. Possessing these natural abilities doesn’t mean they don’t have to do anything; instead, with proper work put into the craft, pouring their heart and soul into learning what it takes to become a DJ. But once they have put their time and effort into learning their craft, their natural but incredible skills kick in, and they can rouse the audience. Although these prodigies don’t come along often, people stop and take notice once they are launched onto the world stage.
One such prodigy gracing the world stage of music is Angelo De Feo. Angelo De Feo is known around the world as DEFEO. This DJ has quickly won the attention of the professional DJ world and won the admiration of music fans. Born on 22 July 1991, DEFEO, originally from Italy, is a music producer based in Biel/Bienne in Bern, Switzerland. Starting his DJing career in 2009, DJ DEFEO took the world by storm. On the way, he picked up proficiency in creating beats and mixing, solidifying his mastery of the craft.
While he became a local sensation as a DJ in Switzerland, he was soon noticed and approached by Marc Heymoz, who is still his general manager. This encounter led to DJ DEFEO joining Aprod Agency. DEFEO spent two years at Aprod Agency during which he performed in some of the biggest music festivals in Switzerland, as well as performing in the Miami Winter Music Conference 2013 and 2014, which happens to be one of the biggest music events in the world. Later the house and progressive house DJ parted ways with the Aprod Agency. Around 2015 Marc Heymoz created a new agency called AFFINITY and successfully convinced DEFEO to come in and join up.
Currently, DEFEO is based out of Switzerland. DEFEO continues to perform in many world-renowned and prestigious clubs in his home base. He has headlined at clubs such as MAD Club, which DJMag ranked among the top 100 clubs, and performed in the D’ Club in Lausanne. DEFEO also flies out to other venues worldwide to perform his craft. He has performed in many European countries, including Spain, France, and the Czech Republic, as well as in the United States and Macedonia.
Besides his popularity in the electronic scene, DEFEO is also well-known as a producer internationally. He has produced and released music for many world-class record labels. His music has been released on Kryteria Records (Spinnin’ Records), Sosumi Records, Generation Hex, Sirup Music, and Juicy Traxx. Starting in 2016, DEFEO has released some charting and well-received singles. Beginning with his first single in 2016, titled ‘Apollo,’ DEFEO went on to release ‘Profiteers,’ ‘Show Me,’ and ‘Deliverance,’ all in 2017. Later, DEFEO released a single titled ‘Himiko’ in 2018, which he followed the next year with the release of ‘Horns,’ Paradigm,’ ‘Take it,’ and ‘Before.’ In the year 2021, DEFEO released a couple of singles, titled ‘Aquarius,’ and ‘La Colegiala.’
DEFEO also collaborated with other musicians. During 2018 and 2020, DEFEO went on to collab with KREG on the release titled ‘Oh!’. His other collaboration happened with TGR, also known as Tom Tyger, on the release ‘Jupiter.’
Beginning with the launch of his career in 2009 as a DJ, DEFEO has become well-known as a DJ in the big room, house, progressive house, and electronic genres. With more to come, the future is bright for DEFEO.
