Actors rejoice! The Galinsky Brothers have arrived with BATTLE ACTS at NYC’s Chelsea Music Hall

Battle Acts is sure to provide an exciting and entertaining night for everyone. Made up of two acts, Battle Acts features Acts 1 competitors, selected by the producing team, performing a 2.5 minutes monologue and Act 2, the 30-second monologues are open to anyone who registers as a performer, on the battle acts website. Winners in both Acts get prizes and notoriety and get to come back and defend their title.  

Hosted by the Galinsky Brothers, Robert and Phil, whose long-running Manhattan Monologue Slam became a staple of the New York City acting community and was touted by the New York Times as “performers looking for that fabled big break are squaring off against one another in a flurry of monologues, with industry professionals sitting as judges.” Renamed Battle Acts, the show brings together stage and film actors who go head-to-head in front of celebrities and industry insiders in an evening of raucous, fast-paced performances to be crowned the “Battle Acts Champ.”

In addition to seeing talented performers vie for the title, audiences can also participate in the fun by voting on performances throughout the night. By competing on Battle Acts, actors can win prizes including training workshops, classes, mentorship sessions from casting directors, agents, and managers, exposure on leading websites and podcasts, and more. With so much at stake, it promises to be an intense competition among the most talented up-and-coming performers from around the country. Robert and Phil Galinsky are actors and teachers and wanted to find a creative outlet that would showcase talent from all corners of the city. They knew they had to come up with something new and different if they wanted to succeed, so they decided to create an event where people could compete head-to-head on stage. Contestants perform monologues from stage or screen and the audience votes on the winner. There are multiple rounds and champions are crowned throughout the evening.

Battle Acts participants have an opportunity to showcase their talents in front of some of the most renowned names in the business. Past judges have included  Stephen McKinley Henderson (currently starring in Broadway in the Pulitzer Prize-winning Between Riverside and Crazy), Jeffrey Dreisbach  (Casting partner at McCorkle Casting), James Gunn, Producer, “Guardians of the Galaxy”; Sarah Silverman, Actor, “The Sarah Silverman Program”; Michael K. Williams, Actor, “The Wire”; Tariq Trotter, Emcee, “The Roots,” “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Joel Waggoner (Broadway’s  School of Rock, Be More Chill) and Ayanna Prescod (freelance journalist, Broadway producer, and Social Media Manager), Tony Winner Irene Gandy,
