Semadar, Creator of the Neo-Pointillism Technique, Exhibits at Carlton Fine Arts To Kick-Off Art Expo New York

By: Margaux Rowan

Semadar, the award-winning international artist recognized for her neo-pointillism technique, is set to present her works at Carlton Fine Arts on Madison Avenue, marking the beginning of Art Expo New York, where she will exhibit with Artifact Projects from April 3rd – 7th.

The exhibition at Charles Saffati’s Carlton Fine Arts will be on display from April 2nd – 25th and is expected to feature eight portraiture works, including Elvis Presley, oil on canvas, 2012; Unspoken – Robin Williams, oil on canvas, 2014; Marilyn Monroe, oil on canvas, 2012; and Bob, oil on canvas, 2012. Semadar’s vibrant works are often noted for showcasing her unique artistic language, drawing inspiration from a rich artistic heritage and seeking to capture the essence of the real.

“The artwork often achieves its full realization where thousands of meticulously deployed oil brushstrokes, applied wet-on-wet, tend to coalesce to embody the totality of the cerebral creative process, potentially becoming a tangible manifestation of artistic sensitivity and offering a profound reflection of the artist’s inner self.” – Semadar.

Semadar, whose artistic journey began with an exploration of classical art philosophy, has spent the past 14 years refining her craft and captivating audiences with her innovative approach. Her notable contribution to the art world is Neo-Pointillism, a distinctive style that has earned her recognition in art history. In 2018, the prestigious Comitato Scientifico—a respected assembly of art critics and historians—acknowledged her as an artistic icon. In a rare honor, they dedicated the first volume of Enciclopedia delle Arte to her, tracing a lineage from the Renaissance to Neo-Pointillism. This volume is now housed in approximately 1,000 museums worldwide, further solidifying her legacy.

She has participated in several international juried exhibits and solo shows at venues such as Maison Alcan in Montreal, Agora Gallery, Architectural Digest, Artifact in New York, Art Fusion Galleries, Art Basel Red Dot in Miami, and the LA Art Show at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Her art has also been showcased at the Grand Palais and Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, Auditorium Ranieri III in Monte Carlo, the Monaco Yacht Show, MEAM Barcelona, Palazzo Uffizi in Florence, Castello Dell’Ovo in Naples, and the Complesso Museale Sala Del Bramante in Rome. A significant career highlight includes her solo exhibition of 22 paintings at Museo Monreale in Palermo, inaugurated by the respected critic Vittorio Sgarbi.

Her artistic reach extends beyond galleries and museums—her work has also appeared in film and media. She has been featured in Step Up Revolution (2012), Rocklo (Quebec), Banc Public (Quebec), and several documentaries spanning Canada, the United States, and Europe.

Semadar is widely regarded as the only Canadian artist selected to represent Canada at several major international events, including the Biennale di Palermo, Biennale di Mantova at Museo Gonzaga, and the Biennale of the Nations in Venice at Palazzo dei Dogi.

Her talent has garnered recognition from esteemed international critics and art historians, including Sam Aberg, Vittorio Sgarbi, Paolo Levi, Jose Van Dali, Salvatore Russo, Byron Coleman, Melissa Biron, Patrick Lachaud, and Dominique Lachapelle. Over the years, she has received numerous prestigious awards, including:

  • Trophée Révélateur de Talents – Louvre Paris (2016)
  • Il Grande Maestro Prize (2016 & 2017)
  • Leonardo da Vinci International Universal Artist Prize (2016)
  • Recognition of Honour – Leonardo da Vinci Prize (2018)
  • Quality Jury Award – Biennale of the Nations, Venice (2018)
  • First-place awards at the Biennale of MeArt Paradisiac Reality and PUBLIC

Beyond her personal achievements, Semadar has played a significant role in the international arts community. She has been an esteemed member of Canadian Heritage and American Heritage abroad since 2010 and 2011, respectively, and holds memberships with prestigious organizations such as Gemlucart in Monte Carlo, SdAi Société des Artistes Indépendants in Paris, and Bridgeman Studio Artist in London.

She speaks of her work, “My artistic pursuit aims to present the viewer with a profound revelation that the realm of art may transcend the mere application of pigment to canvas. The artwork can open a window to a world and seeks to capture the quintessential essence of earth’s most exquisite paradisiacal gardens, potentially bridging the perceived dichotomy between the tangible and the intangible. The observer is often transported into an immersive world characterized by profound peace and aesthetic beauty.”

Through her ongoing innovation, international acclaim, and commitment to the arts, Semadar continues to push the boundaries of artistic expression, leaving a lasting impact on the global art world.
