Polish Creative Director Zuzy Develops a Relatable Brand at the Onset of the Pandemic

While businesses, both big and small, were closing left and right at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, Polish artist and creative director Zuzy Dabrowska decided to spark hope and inspiration by establishing her own brand, House of Locura. Determined to succeed at a time when people were overcome by their fear of the deadly COVID-19 virus, Zuzy found the courage to push forward and transform her creative ideas into profitable and life-changing items.

The business was established in May 2020, at a time when uncertainty and fear ruled over people and countries. Zuzy Dabrowska, however, is not someone who backs down so easily. She is someone who is not afraid to try something new and make that new venture succeed despite the odds. What was originally supposed to be a business that sold only face masks eventually evolved into one that provided eye-catching streetwear.

More than just selling well-designed and awe-inspiring streetwear, House of Locura was designed to be the solution to a mad lifestyle. The female-operated and owned brand that was founded in Mexico City is now an active community that promotes strength, hope, and the determination to survive. Aside from clothing, clients also have access to all sorts of creative content that people may need for their personal projects or business.

“I remember we barely had anything set up, but I kept wanting to push the brand and just get it going so I could feel it out and really adapt it to what I wanted it to portray because, in reality, we don’t have a typical brand message and foundation,” Zuzy Dabrowska reveals. “We rarely do things exactly how they’re supposed to be. It’s all about the journey of the story that makes it so special,” she adds.

Zuzy is a hands-on type of entrepreneur and leader. While other brands may have a large team of highly skilled people working tirelessly to advance their interests, Zuzy likes to get her hands dirty, from making the designs to uploading them on the website, answering customer emails, and designing the site itself.

Prior to creating her business, Zuzy was a passionate student at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at NYU while working as creative director for AITV at the same time. She is used to being surrounded by some of the industry’s most creative and unpredictable minds, giving her the inspiration needed to develop her brand.

At present, Zuzy Dabrowska is looking at doing collaborations with music artists in the near future, those whose personal principles and message align with her brands. Creative content is a big part of her brand and being able to expand it and improve its quality is something that she foresees will have an even bigger impact on her target market. Additionally, she is looking at adding more designs in the near future that are guaranteed to make anyone’s closet pop with energy and color.

As early as now, the rising designer and entrepreneur is seeing herself creating Locura Beauty, a makeup and skincare line that she hopes will dominate the market in the next few years. Creating Locura Beauty will enable her to provide all her customers with the ultimate Locura package.

As she inspires other young women, students, artists, and aspiring entrepreneurs to go for their dreams, Zuzy Dabrowska wants to reassure them that they need not be afraid of failing. Instead, they should face the challenges head-on and consider them as a means to learn new things.
