It is one thing to spot a talented person; it is another to give them a chance and the resources to develop themselves. For 21-year-old Nicki Tha Great, her undeniable talent was first noticed by her grandparents when she was four. They immediately enrolled her in piano lessons, and the journey became an upward climb from there.
Nicki Tha Great got a shot at putting her talents to use in the church when she joined the church choir. She rose through the ranks quickly by becoming one of the youngest members to get solo performances. When she reached 13, she moved to upstate New York, picked up her piano again, and started writing songs. Throughout her high school education, Nicki spent time writing and performing her original songs, which earned her a fanbase at a young age as an underground artist. In 2017, she released her first single, “Track,” on SoundCloud.
Quality and authenticity are two of Nicki Tha Great’s superior qualities as a musician. She has remained consistent with her identity since she hit the spotlight and has fully embraced her identity as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Over the last four years, she has devoted time to her craft, writing more songs, producing and engineering her songs all by herself. Her strongest suits are her versatility and ability to make music in any genre.
With her biggest single ‘That Woah’ at 150,000 streams, following with ‘Moment’ ft. DeadInside reaching 80,000 streams within a month, Nicki Tha Great has all the validation she needs as an artist to keep doing her thing her way. She’s an independent artist who has proved to be one of the best voices to come out of New York. She was recently featured on Medium and Vocal for her new singles, and she looks forward to gracing more publications and magazine covers.
Citing past experiences as the main reason why she stuck to music as an artist, Nickii Tha Great also shares that she believes she’s embedded with so much talent to keep to herself. “I find it rather selfish to have a talent and not share it with the world when your talent can bring such positivity into people’s lives, that would be why I decided to make this a full-time career, cause I am in love with what I do, and it benefits others,” she said. “Thinking back on my life, I have too much pain, stories, and events to share with the world,” she added.
While she continues to put out music, Nicki Tha Great already has the next five years in view, and she wants nothing but comfort for herself, her family, her team and everyone working with her. She hopes to take care of everyone in her life, inspire people, influence lives, and change as many lives as possible. She also wants her audience to be inspired by her journey and focus on their set goals without minding what anyone has to say about them.
