Canadian music producer, singer, and songwriter Yonatan Watts is teasing the release of potential hits this 2021 that involves big names such as Jordin Sparks and Tamar Braxton, among others. After the successful release of Desiigner’s latest single, “GLE,” which he co-produced with Akeel Henry just recently, Watts has nowhere to go but up as he continues to make phenomenal music.
If there is one thing that he is best known for, it is his remarkable ability to produce exceptional songs or some of the biggest names in the music industry, including co-producing the song “Main Thing” for American singer Ariana Grande and “Weak All Week” for Eric Bellinger, with Xeryus on guitars. His previous works also include “Bestie” with Dame Dolla and Lil Durk with Omar Grand and Marley Waters. Last year, he also did a project for Disney.
So far, his work with Ariana Grande has solicited such a warm and exciting response from fans and people from the music industry alike. His production input, which contributed greatly to getting Grande’s album to the top of the Billboard charts, makes him extremely proud. He considers the experience a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that will forever be etched in his music career. The success of his collaboration with Grande inspires him to dream further and work with other big names in the industry, including Beyonce, Jay-Z, and Bruno Mars, to mention a few.
Yonatan Watts’ music influences are an exciting mix of different genres, enabling him to work with diversity and without any limitations. His personal style is a combination of the influences of Stevie Wonder, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Tyrese, Tank, and B2k. Experimenting with different genres and incorporating them to create something new and impressive altogether is something he finds very fulfilling and exciting.
“My sound would best be described as the perfect fusion between generations,” Yonatan Watts explains. “I’m born between 1989-1995, which was the time in which you were perfectly between two different generations and saw technology when it emerged, to what it is today. This being said, I’ve always aimed to blend the old with the new,” he shares.
His passion for music started at a very young age and was greatly influenced by the rich culture of Japanese anime, Black culture soul, and R&B. He used to sing songs from his favorite manga and anime, and people would tell him that he has a natural gift for singing. He also grew up surrounded by music as his parents were both very passionate about it as well. These various influences shaped his personal style over the years, giving him an in-depth appreciation of different styles.

When he is not in the studio creating beautiful music, Watts is either discovering new culinary wonders, doing outdoor activities, or traveling. Everyone who knows him best knows that he is very passionate about great food, and scouring the LA area for the best restaurant with the most delicious food is one of his hobbies.
