Finding Answers To The Unanswerable – YouTuber More Plates More Dates Presents Compelling Hair Loss Research

Very infrequently are new concepts brought to the forefront in the hair loss prevention space.

For decades we have had the same tried and true products available to us, and the same answer to what causes hair loss has remained consistent as well.

In general, it is understood that Testosterone converting to the hormone Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is what is ultimately responsible for causing hair loss.

While DHT is widely accepted as the main root of the problem, Derek believes there is more to it than meets the eye.

Derek from MorePlatesMoreDates.com has been publishing new and interesting content on the subject for years, and he even does experiments on himself to arrive at his conclusions.

He first broke out in the space when he titrated up his TRT concurrently with oral Dutasteride for over a year and documented his blood test results, side effects and hair regrowth/further loss.

In the video he explains how all free androgens (not just DHT) in the body can trigger the cascade of events that lead to eventual hair follicle miniaturization, and presents compelling evidence not only clinically, but anecdotally to reinforce is findings.

“Remember, it’s literally called ANDROGENIC Alopecia. It’s not called DHT Alopecia,” he explains in his written article on the subject.

In his experiment, he sustained an undetectable DHT level with Dutasteride administration, and simultaneously titrated his TRT regimen to assess if Testosterone on its own could accelerate hair loss in the absence of DHT.

Expectedly, it did, just to a much lesser degree.

Derek often proposes that being proactive about hair loss is superior to being reactive.

“Recovering lost ground is far more difficult than preventing yourself from losing ground in the first place,” he says.

While his experiments and research often focus on more niche scenarios with hyper-aggressive hair loss, or those who waited too long before getting on a prevention protocol, he explains that for the majority of people staving off loss by being proactive is actually fairly simple and fortunately generally well tolerated.

“You won’t notice hair loss until you’ve lost upwards of 20-30% of your hair. You have over 100,000 hair follicles to work with. If you run your hands through your hair a bunch of times and end up pulling out a couple hundred hairs, you will not see any discernible difference in the mirror because you have tens of thousands of hairs on your head still. The most common scenario is when a guy thinks he is immune from hair loss and goes for years experiencing slow but steady miniaturization, only to notice one day in the mirror under harsh lighting that their density is more diffuse than normal, or their hairline is more receded than they thought, or a number of other scenarios that you notice randomly out of the blue. Those men don’t realize that it has been happening for a while, but it will typically take losing thousands, or even tens of thousands of hairs off your head before you actually notice it in the mirror. Once you start noticing blatant hair loss in the mirror, you’ve probably already lost 10-20%+ of your hair, if not significantly more. Fortunately, there are FDA approved treatments that are generally well-tolerated that if used proactively will likely prevent you from getting to that point for several more years, or even decades. More comprehensive protocols may even sustain near-perfect hair the majority of one’s life.”

Derek elaborates on the most tried and true hair loss treatments on his website and YouTube channel and stays up to date with the most recent cutting-edge research.

Importantly, he does not just touch on how these protocols can help, but he also thoroughly explains the risks and potential side-effect profiles of these compounds, even the FDA approved ones, to ensure that you carefully weigh out the pro’s and con’s before you start any treatment.

His hair loss prevention playlist is constantly expanding and is a great place to learn more.As of recent, Derek is publishing regularly on his social media platforms and has been pouring a lot of his time into building his supplement company Gorilla Mind and his HRT clinic Marek Health
