NEW YORK, NY – February 25, 2023 – With runways setting trends every season, it’s no surprise to see Designer Cristina Nitopi at the top of the editors’ list for NYFW. Delivering style setters during her latest FW24 collection featuring celebrity model Josephine Skriver (a Danish model most known for her work as a Victoria’s Secret Angel, photographed by celebrity photographer Jason MacDonald), we saw an artist’s vision merging ready-to-wear separates with the epitome of runway luxury.
Since her launch in NYFW, we learned that fashion for Nitopi is a form of expression. “Through fashion, I communicate how I feel. I use fashion to express my personality,” notes Nitopi. She also loves “color and how it mixes and marries others ultimately, influencing our emotions.” This collection, however, demonstrated the evolution of the designer’s vision.
In her collection, Nitopi noted that she was “looking to introduce luxury fabrics that would be new to fashion separates while continuing to stay ahead of color trends.” But more than that, she raised the bar on what ready-to-wear collections should be like. Understanding that trends are not to be followed but instead created, the designer knew that a collection, aside from its elite tailoring, needed to offer newness, individuality, and innovation to stay ahead of the curve. In turn, she introduced elite tailoring only found within couture design within separates.
When further asked about inspiration, it was noted that “emotion plays an important factor in the creative process and assists [her] to create certain designs to evoke key feelings among the audience and within consumers. Guests were inspired as they were introduced to separates in subdued red, cooling Persian blue, and deep-grayish blue – layered under a sheer iridescent material to add texture to this collection.
However, the innovative concept of ready-to-wear fashion colliding with luxury tailoring details once more set Nitopi apart from other designers this season. Allowing others to add their personal touch through the ability to interchange each collection piece amongst themselves or as individual pieces to elevate any day-to-day fit. “The collection was meant to show the power of color and emotion, with each color & fabric divulging the feeling of enticement, tranquility, and poise.”
Everyone is familiar with couture, as they are with fast fashion, and with Nitopi merging the two in such a way to give control to the wearer and introduce a new standard, showing that fashion trends should not compromise tailoring – is creating a lane of its own in the fashion world. And to no surprise, Nitopi, a true fashion innovator that can foresee and execute such tasks seamlessly, would be able to leave us inspired. That is why the name to remember this fashion season is Cristina Nitopi.
With plenty of highlights from this show, it’s clear that it’s never too early to start listing definitive trends within NYFW.
