It is true what most people say that a person can pursue several passions in one lifetime and that they may come one after another through different seasons. Actress Ayelet Kaznelson knows this all too well after deciding to park her former career for several years to pursue another passion that made a lasting impact on over 10,000 women and their respective families. In this season of her life, she has come full circle and finds herself yearning for her life in front of the camera, and she is more than ready to dive in once again and pursue new experiences.
Unlike most women her age, Ayelet Kaznelson is not slowing down at all. The 56-year-old New Yorker has exciting plans ahead of her as she has kept herself highly marketable. She does not look anything like her age, except for the graying hair. She remains in good shape, and she is ready to take on roles she has never explored in the past.
“I have never done anything to alter my body or face. Didn’t even fix a broken nose :-). I want others to know it’s OK to leave our faces and bodies alone as we grow older. When we have wrinkles it means we cried and laughed and lived a life. Isn’t that OK?”
During the time Ayelet Kaznelson took a break from acting, she excelled as a lactation expert in both New York City and Los Angeles, impacting countless mothers and families significantly. She became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and a Labor Support Doula. She first explored her new career and advocacy in 1999 after giving birth to her daughter, Zoë. Elizabeth Seton Childbearing Center became her first avenue to exercise her newfound career. Some years later, however, it closed down.
Fortunately for her, a new opportunity opened right away. Her mentors invited her to become part of the group that established The Manhattan Lactation Group, a remarkable opportunity that further boosted what would become an exciting career for her. At this same time, Ayelet Kaznelson worked with Erica Lyon to be part of the original staff of Realbirth, the well-known first comprehensive childbirth education and postpartum center based in New York City.
The succeeding years became a very productive season for Ayelet as she received her Lactation Counseling Certification in 2002 and passed the International Board Certification exam in 2004 after giving birth to her son, Liam. Two years later, she relocated to Los Angeles to establish a private practice that would define her advocacy as a lactation expert. She developed The Los Angeles Lactation Group and helped countless mothers in their breastfeeding journey. While in LA, she was also a staff lactation consultant at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. A year later, she moved back to New York, where she offered labor support to her closest friends and members of the family. This new opportunity eventually became another full-time job for her. She became a midwife assistant after finishing her training at The Farm in Summertown, Tennessee. She also teaches and runs clinics at the Prenatal Yoga Center and Manhattan Valley Pediatrics.
Ayelet Kaznelson not only hopes to revive one of her first loves by pursuing her acting career new, she also aspires to serve as an inspiration to women her age. By showing them that life does not have to slow down in their 50s, she hopes to motivate more women to step out of their comfort zone and create new paths for themselves. At their age, she believes that women can be anything they want to be if they set their minds and hearts into achieving greater feats.
